Too many Mandalorians and the first moment I saw the pic it made me think it was one of their helmets lmao

    • +1

I came here to write a similar comment. As soon as I saw this on my feed, thought of star wars helmets lol

      • Kids these days! Us oldies most likely thought "Daft Punk make vacuum cleaners?"

        • That's interesting considering star wars is older than Daft Punk…

          • +1

@WallybR: Star wars is older but mandalorian is far recent than daft punk.

            • @xoom: But Mandalorians are in the original trilogy which is pre Daft Punk. B00m

              • @WallybR: That maybe but the look of the vacuum which someone mistook for a mandalorian helmet likely saw the recent disney+ tv show. And thats how they associated it.

Gotta say i am seeing the daft punk helmet vibes also.

Waiting for all the comments saying how useless this is as someone tried to clean their 5 story carpeted house with it, or that it took way too long to clean their 40 Persian rugs.

Anyone looking to buy one of these, i would HIGHLY suggest testing the suction power with you hand before purchase.

I returned mine after one use because in the end, my shop vac did a MUCH better job of extraction and it was significantly cheaper than the Bissell.

I was surprised how terrible the suction power was. I though I got a dud, but after checking the stores demo model it was just the product.

I was using an external spray bottle with cleaning formula on our poof, agitated it with a drill brush and proceeded to extract it. The amount of water extracted was minimal at best!!

Any who, just my experience and wanted to share it because I wasn't happy with the performance.

      • Cleaned many cars with this guys smaller cousin, no issues at all. I was even able to suck up water leaks from footwells with it also. Even cleaned a rug when I was in a pinch. Fantastic little machine, tiny and easy to store.

        Even comes recommended by Bowdens

I posted my experience not to say you are wrong or misleading people, rather that I wasn't happy with it based on alternative options and performance by comparison.

Does it work? sure I guess.. I never said it didn't. Just think you can get better bang for buck / performance with alternative options.

          • +1

@vash5: I 100% agree with you, but to complain about it stating the obvious, there will be better devices, this is convenience and ease of use.
If you do feel that it doesn't suit you, then do everyone a favour and list the product that fits the same mould that is cheaper or similar in price. Just saying a random shop vacuum is better does nothing for us. I have a tiny shelf space available for items like this, and I have to take up the stairs regularly for kids making a mess in the house.
For the use case, this will do the job, as many will attest including professionals. This is a consumer product aimed at convenience.

          • +1

@vash5: what alternativ do you suggest?

      • Not entirely sure what you experienced as I would almost compare the level of suction to that of our Dyson big ball animal.
Granted, we've only used it on two cars so far today. So we will see how long it lasts with that kind of suction but since all the dirt is trapped in the liquid I would assume the entire warranty period (2 years) is achievable.

    • +1

Them peasants with only 5 story house and only 40 persian rugs. They got nothing to complain about using this vacuum.

      j/k

  • Any reviews from the ozb community pls?

I have a spot clean turbo pro; it's great for spot cleaning random stains in the carpet. Also great for doing things such as rugs, mattresses and couches.

If you have the time and patience to spend a LONG time on your hands and knees you can do larger rooms it's a big BUT though

      • Do you find it struggles with any types of stains? Looking to get one for the couch, the little ones keep finding new and exciting ways to dirty the fabric.

        • +1

I've been happy with it on most things. There's a few stains that I've struggled to get out which was glue residue - that being said these stains were on carpet, in a high wear area, and over a year old. It got most of it out but if I look hard enough I'll find stains

As with most to all stains, the earlier you get to it, the easier it is to lift completely.

Also I think Bissell may have a money back trial period? Check with Bissell. I got mine at HN (on an Amex cash back promo) which had a 'satisfaction or your money back period'

          • +1

            @Gunnar: Thanks for that!

            • @AEKaBeer: All good I'm happy with mine. I only got it because I had an Amex promo ($400 cashback from HN or Amex travel). HN hast nothing else I wanted/needed and I really don't like getting anything from there. Decided to tray and am really happy with it

Also works well on car mats

        • +1

I bought the original spotclean turbo before our little one was born. Have been using it to clean the couch and woolen rug. So far so good with yoghurt, baby vomit, smoothie (including raw beetroot and cherries in the ingredients), coffee and tea. I’ve been using the pre-treatment spray and the regular detergent + occasionally the oxy boost stuff.

          • +1

@simulacrum: Thanks, you both sold me on it. Now to convince the other half. :)

This is useless as I tried to clean my 5 story carpeted house with it, and it it took way too long to clean my 40 Persian rugs!

  • Can anyone recommend a full size unit suitable for homes?

    • +1

The bissell proheat x2 revolution carpet cleaner has a long hose attachment and similar/same spot cleaning tools included. So you can clean the 5 story carpeted house :) and do your car seats with the same unit.

      • I have this - the only fault is that when using the long hose attachment, the main brush continues to spin

  • +1

Anyone purchased the Supercheap one already - keen to know what tools are included? Is it just tthe 1 x 3in1 brush head? The version stocked at Goodguys and Harvey Norman has 6 tools included.

  • I amlooking for a cordless one. They have one model that I saw on youtube, cant remember atm

    • That had motorized head as well

  • I'm just looking for a decent vaccuum to do my house. Have a dyson stick which does an ok job but would like a bit more power. Any suggestions? thanks

    • dyson big ball?

    • miele vacuum cleaner are highly praised round these parts

saying that.. i have a dyson v11 and it does well in for an apartment

      • Just a Bosch would do as good and be better value than Miele.

    • Yeah if you don't mind corded can recommend both Bosch and Miele vacuums. Have both (2 houses) and both are awesome.

    • Robot vacuums are the bomb.

      • Bomb ass good or bomb ass shit?

        • Your predictive text is telling us a story

    • I've been using hoover allergy vacuum that comes with motorized head unit and I am very happy with it. I used several other popular brands but so far this one is the best for me.

The Bissell 2X concentrate is highly rated - YouTube head to head tests usually have it coming out front and I use it in my VAX steam cleaner instead of their own concentrate.

I use the ambi-pur blossom and breeze, available for just over $20 at Harvey Norman and Good Guys.

It drys fast - earlier this week in Sydney's weather I had the carpet dry within a few hours in the late afternoon with a fan on low settings and windows open despite the rain outside and could sleep in the same room at night. The smell is strong but not uncomfortable or off putting chemical in nature.

It is concentrate - first use I made the mistake of buying two bottles and using twice as much as needed. Recommend only using a smidgen - a bottle could probably last over fifty or more times over as it is so concentrated. If you are just using it for car and couches I would recommend not purchasing more than one bottle as you only need so little with each clean.

  • Any good value formula to buy with this? Only one they list on the Bissells website for this is a $45 2 pack Bissell 709ml Professional Stain & Odour Formula

  • I need to clean my car seats.. get this or just rent a machine from bunnings for 24 hrs?

    • that's what I'm thinking, too…

    • Bunnings will do a much better job imo. The machine has way more extraction power.

I would suggest also looking into a drill brush to help.

  • A decent guide comparing all the spot clean models

    https://www.bowdensown.com.au/guides/how-to-use-our-car-care…

  • So that's what the guys at Daft Punk are doing with their spare helmets now they've broken up 😄

  • Was looking to get my car seats steam cleaned and a Groupon person doing it for $150. But now looking at this deal, in a double mind. Looked at hiring the Bunnings one for 24 hrs, but I don't think it will reach all areas.

Any thoughts on which would be better ? How often do people steam clean their seats ?

    • This isn't a steam cleaner, it's just water application and extraction. The water application can have shampoo in it which you can agitate into the carpet, then extract out.

      • Understood. How often do people use this though ?

        • Once a quarter on my pretty clean car. Once a month on random spills on carpet/rugs.

I'm also looking at getting a steam cleaner for other things like house cleaning and car dash cleaning.

  • goodguy commercial got the bigger capacity model for $286 if you have access.

    • Bigger capacity? In terms of water tank or power?

  • How long did you guys have to wait after purchasing on EBAY before it was ready for pickup in store?

  • Will this get shit off a blanket?

Just rub some dish soap and water on the stain and use a wet vac to suck it up. That's how I clean my couch and it works very well. Will give a lot more suction, is cheaper and you don't have another specialised device to deal with.

So I picked mine up this afternoon and have given it a run.

Firstly I would say the 2.8l tank and 750 watt motor are barely adequate. The cheaper versions with a smaller tank and less powerful motor honestly would be a waste of time.

I had some badly spotted carpet. I cleaned two different carpets, approximately 1 square metre each in total.

1 square metre of thorough cleaning required 2 full tanks of water and cleaning solution. So all up I filled the tank 4 times and emptied it 4 times.

I used the plush carpet attachment on medium pile carpet.

As a vacuum it's pretty crap. If you have a lot of debris on the carpet, you need to do a normal vacuum before you use this.

For stain removal, initial results were encouraging. Some dirty stains and spots that had been in my cream coloured carpet for some time disappeared with fairly little effort.

I would say the carpet is still quite damp after you use this thing. That is with a 750 watt motor. It must be sopping wet with the 275 watt motor versions if they deploy the same amount of liquid per second. The suction determines how much water is sucked up.

Each time the waste water was pretty brown and dirty looking.

I am happy enough, but if I had my time again I would get one with more power and a bigger tank.

Also you use 59ml approx of cleaning solution in one tank - so you get 4 washes worth with your machine. They dont supply a measure for the washing detergent either, so I just guesstimated.

    • +1

Interesting as I’ve had very different results on mine with dampness. Did you use a pre treatment for the stains?

I’m Sure you know this but yOure not meant to use it as a vacuum before you treat, you need to use a regular vacuum to clear the debris. The water tank gets pretty gross though.

One thing I found when you’re extracting liquid is to use force. The harder you push down the more you extract and the drier the carpet will be. I’ve got the spot clean turbo pro which I’m pretty sure has the same motor. Using quite a bit of pressure and pulling back slowly, my carpets are practically dry. The other factor is the amount of cleaning solution being used when you spray the floor.

Basically The less you spray, the more you work it in, and the greater you push down when extracting, the cleaner and drier the carpet will be

      • I pushed pretty hard, but next time I'll vacuum dry 3 times longer then I spray and I'll press hard.

I like the unit and am happy with it, just need to get better at using it and understand it's limitations.

        • With the spray I found a little goes a long way. I can't remember how may passes I did but it was definitely more than three times the length of time I spent spraying the stain

If you look at the front of the head you're using, you can see how much fluid its extracting; when there's minimal to no fluid stop extracting as that will be about as dry as you are going to get.

For example, if you look at this video I would have kept extracting the fluids for a hell of a lot longer than he did; from my experiences this carpet would still be pretty wet:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9on5_rpmZwA

    • With the bissel detergent there are volume measures on the inside of the lids.. at least for the concentrate and oxyboost ones that I have been using. I’ve found in a warm day it usually takes a day to dry, not sure if the detergent contains something to make it evaporate faster but it feels that way. Using hot water in the tank helps too. I agree the stain removal is great. On older stains their pre-treatment spray and oxyboost detergent help.

  • I have the orange one of this. After 3 years it's stopped working.

I got my moneys worth to an extent. For carpet you need to add the bissell oxy booster to the cleaner. Got rid of >50 dog toilet stains.
