  • Is this slim profile? As in not thick? And is it a better version in your opinion than the slim sleeve one? This looks smaller.

For 5 cards and cash, which is the better pick?

Check out the Note sleeve too

      • I second Note Sleeve.

    • I've have the slim sleeve you linked above for a few years now (maybe 5) and it's perfect. I carry about 4 or 5 cards.

    • I’ve had the slim sleeve for a couple of years. In comparison to the card sleeve it has 2 quick access cards which is great. I tend to use 2 cards 95% of the time, and there’s room for several other cards and some folded notes for the just in case scenarios.

    • Slim sleeve for 5 cards and cash. Thats what I carry.

    • Thanks for your advice and replies all! I wonder how well these compare to the RM Williams Slim Bi Fold Wallet.

  • You carry 12 cards?!

    • +11

There's no cash here. Here, there's no cash. Cash, no.

      • +4

I tell you what. You try gettin' from where you'r sittin' to the front door.

    • +3

King of Hearts, Queen of Diamonds, Jack of Clubs, starts really adding up.

    • +2

      Yep, 12 cards.
One side; medicare, credit card, another credit card (not mine, it's complicated), debit card, opal card, license.
Other side: club membership cards x4, private health card, and a work key card.

And I have two 50s 'hidden' in my phone cover. (Doesn't everyone?)

      • +10

When will you give me back my credit card? It's been ages now.

        • Gee, sounds complicated

  • I really like their apex slim case, waiting for that one too go on sale at a reasonable price but I've been waiting a while might have to settle for one of the other models like this.
    Thanks OP

I dont even carry cards anymore.

all i need is my phone

    • What about ID like a driver's licence?

      • +6

In NSW they have a digital licence, so maybe they're in NSW. Or has no day to day need for a licence/id

        • +1

Can't wait for Victoria to have digital licences but I don't even think it's something that's in works let alone close to being implemented unfortunately. (It's possible that I've just missed it but I don't think so)

        • +1

          thats correct.

I use digital license in NSW.

In addition I use stocard to store all my membership / discount cards and use apple pay and scan in all my credit/bank cards.

So really there isn't any need to carry any cards.

I do keep one emergency credit card wedged inside my phone case when i go for longer trips in Australia

          • @SpeedRunnerLink:

credit card wedged inside my phone case when i go for longer trips in Australia

That could stuff up phone payments if you forget

      • Same in SA. digital license on the phone!

    • -1

Still need cards for some situations like if you need cash and don't have an ATM that allows cardless nearby, drivers licence ECT but the way things are going won't be long before all that will be available online through an app.

      • +1

Service NSW app for driver's licence as above. Only card I really need is my Bupa plastic card for the dentist as they don't seem savvy enough to do the myBupa app tap on Android. But I use that card twice a year only.

      • I carry a card for cash withdrawal reasons as a safety net, but if you do want you can do cash out at a grocery store and similar places if you have a debit card saved to your phone so it’s not essential for that either. Don’t need to rely on an ATM with careless cash.

      • a lot of my ATMs in Sydney have paywave so i use my phone to sign in.

    • What about discounts at your local club when buying drinks or meals?

The 4 clubs I go to all swipe my members cards at the bar for the discount or to gain ‘points’.

      • +2

        Stocard app

        • Mmmm,

I’m not sure the app can be used to swipe at the bar.

      • I keep those in the car and take each one out if I go, as I don't go that often. I guess if you go everyday it makes sense keep in your wallet.

      • BeemIt has a section for loyalty cards

These are awesome, but who carries a wallet anymore? I've got a bellroy in the bottom drawer with my iPod and my horse whip…

    • Why do you mix your sex toys up with your wallet?

      • +5

        Leather goods. Duh.

  • I'm using one as we speak. i wish i got the black or tan one..i was drawn into the charcoal because of the blue lining, but its quite a few shads lighter than i was hoping.

I have business cards and a Tile Slim on one side, credit cards and Drivers on the other.

  • +1

Bought one from David Jones when it was at $48. Wouldn’t recommend if you are after a quality leather product. This feels very plastic-y and cheap, at least in the black colour way.

  • +7

How did ozbargain get suckered by bellroy into being an ozb favourite.

The build quality sucks, the quality of the leather sucks too.

The only thing they do well is website design, and the pictures of their products.

Also the Color selection is pretty on trend.

    • -2

Build quality and leather quality of my note sleeve is excellent.

      • -3

You would hope so for that price!!!!

        • +1

I think I paid $85 for it. Had it for 5 years and it still looks superb. Would buy another tomorrow if I had to, but the one I have will last me for a long time yet. Best wallet I've ever owned.

          • -2

@BlunderCat: My $15 one has lasted 6 years and looks like new. I guess if you want to throw money at certain brands go for it hey! I ended up getting one off aliexpress that is basically the same thing too.
Sold my bellroy note as it was huge and thick. Leather was of average quality. Worth max $30.

            • @onlinepred: I'd be happy to see a link to a wallet on AliExpress that is comparable to the Note Sleeve in terms of style, function, form, build and leather quality.

              • @BlunderCat: The one I bought 4 years ago for my old man is not valid anymore. “Genuine leather slim 16 card wallet” was the item. Just a matter of searching around and reading reviews and looking at the review photos.

                • @onlinepred: I've looked, and under $20, there might be a comparable diamond in the rough amongst the AliExpress junk, but it would be an exception to the norm.

                  • @BlunderCat: Yep that’s the name of the aliexpress game hey.

                    • @onlinepred: Indeed, which IMO makes the Bellroy a good option and not "throwing money at certain brands", as it's clear that actually getting something comparable to the note sleeve for under $20 from AliExpress would be a miracle. I'm pretty sure we probably greatly differ on the idea of what is "comparable" anyway.

                      • @BlunderCat: Yep, if you require these specific traits of the bellroy and want to spend much more money on a wallet then yes, go for gold hey. My note sleeve was way too chunky and the leather was literally the same as nearly every leather wallet from Myer. I regifted it and bought a $15 tiny wallet that’s lasted 6 years now, looks new and feels great so I guess it’s all about specific features and self imposed value.

                        • @onlinepred: Likewise, if you don't need the specific traits of the note sleeve and are happy to go with something cheap and cheerful that is "basically the same thing" that suits your particular needs better, then I'm glad you found it. The note sleeve clearly wasn't the right wallet for you. I don't find the note sleeve too chunky at all, and do want the specific features of it and use them all. I don't want to "spend much more money" on anything unnecessarily, and if there was something directly comparable to the note sleeve for under $20 on AliExpress I'd go for it, but there certainly doesn't seem to be.

                          • @BlunderCat: Yea the note was way too chunky! I like super thin for notes and cards only.

This is what I got from David jones for $15.

                            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Geoffrey-Beene-Credit-Card-Walle…

                            • @onlinepred: Cool. We certainly do differ a lot on the idea of "comparable", as I thought.

                              • @BlunderCat: Yea, if Bellroy had a thin wallet like that, I might have considered it if it was $30-40. The Card Sleeve is the closest to a thin wallet they have, and at $80 it's still too thick and poorly designed. A wallet should be a simple thing, they just put all these weird levers and pulls and flips on it and market it in a way that makes it seem really nice and high quality. I do admire then for their marketing though!!

    • Any wallet you recommend then?

  • I can't even remember the last time I carried a wallet. iPhone + Apple Watch + Stocard app and I'm locked in.

    • This isn't a wallet.

      It's a bellroy.

      • Need a wallet and a bellroy?

      • Same, same.

  • -1

These wallets are so thick. They get marketed as being thin. They have amazing marketing

  • -1

Be mindful that this won't be able to fit in your eye-liner and your lipstip

    • Are you insinuating owning one of these wallets is feminine? Is that the gag? Nice man

    • What's a lipstip?

  • +1

What about these 17 Bunnings receipts I'm keeping in case of warranty. Or my 5 physio appointment cards.

    • +1

Don't you get a digital receipt?

      • That's a thing at Bunnings?

        • +1

Yep, at the self checkouts at least. You enter your mobile number.

  • Looks like all the good colours are oos

    • Navy back in stock.

  • Every day I check if charcoal has gone down to $65.
