You're surprised that 'brotherhood' you message everyone about all the time hasn't posted it? 😏

Should stack with the AliExpress coupons

    • lol, was asking around for the upsized CB and here it comes a hour after i placed my order.

      • Potentially can ask the seller to cancel and refund your order. Plenty of time until 7pm to do it.

  • +1

Will you get the cashback if you use a code? e.g. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/685753

    • +4

In my experience they always stack assuming the product is affiliated.

      • So can use the generic code plus shop coupon and still get cashback? Cashback won't get declined using code not listed?

        • Correct.

    • none of those codes worked for me :/

  • +5

Will never shop on AliExpress again after the last item I purchased. Ordered on 15 Jan and still no where to be been and unable to raise dispute for another 28 days.
Better to pay a bit more and buy locally.

    • +11

It's not unusual for Ali deliveries to take 2 months

      • Never took this long in the past for me even during the worst of the COVID. Worst was around a month but most arrived in about 2 to 3 weeks.

        • +4

Supply chains are cooked and australia post is having a hard enough time.
I wouldn't go blaming aliexpress for a shipping company's failures

            • +11

@keejoonc: Suit yourself. AliExpress tends to be the cheapest for many items by a wide margin. If you can't even wait a bit longer and must have whatever you want now, go ahead and pay 50-100% more elsewhere.

              • @clubhonda: Never found anything that was 50-100% more. Lucky me.

              • @clubhonda: What exactly is 50% cheaper? LOL
In general, they are only 10-20% cheaper. Maybe you should look at other options more closely rather than being an Aliexpress fanboy.
What not to like? Ridiculous time period before you can lodge a dispute, virtually non-existent support from Aliexpress themselves, sellers that barely speak English, horrendous delivery time, items often go missing
                Suit yourself lol

            • +3

              @keejoonc:

it's not even that cheap anymore compared to buying locally.

This is so blatantly and hugely untrue for most things.

Anything that can be made in China that is not bulky is always cheaper on ali.

              • @watwatwat: Untrue based on your opinion? Most things I bought could be found on ebay for probably 10-20% more at most. I don't buy hugely expensive stuff on Aliexpress so I'd rather pay 10-20% more on 20 dollar item if it means I get it within a week rather than wait 3 months for it.

                • @keejoonc: Most eBay items cheaper than Ali are mostly from overseas. Shipping time would be similar anyway. Just buy from eBay paying more, then wait and see for yourself. Who cares?

                  • @Jamesx: Where did I say eBay is cheaper? Learn to read. I'm talking about items located in Australia only on eBay and usually they are only slightly more expensive. For small value items, it's not worth the wait buying from AliExpress. If saving a few bucks and waiting 2-3 months is your thing, by all means do it, but don't criticise others for not wanting to go down that path.

              • +1

@watwatwat: cheap yes, but you can find a lot of items on ebay that are the same. yes its about $10-15 more. But delivery much faster, and you have ebay backing.

                • @Stopback:

                  I'd rather pay 10-20% more
yes its about $10-15 more. But delivery much faster,

Each to their own, ay. I would gladly save all this free money for buying the exact same thing delivered to my door (if I don't need it urgently). And the vast majority of things I buy, I don't need urgently.

get it within a week rather than wait 3 months for it.

Most of mine have been coming in 3 weeks but if they took 2 months, that is fine with me.

          • -4

@Drakesy: What a load of crock. Lol
Yet Amazon can ship stuff from US to my door step in less than a week.

            • -1

@dji1111111: Amazon does have aus warehouses dont forget

              • -4

@Drakesy: Please use your brain next time. How about a tracking history that shows it left from US? Happy now?

            • +1

              @dji1111111:

Yet Amazon can ship stuff from US to my door step in less than a week.

And Amazon is subsidising the cost of AIR FREIGHT.

Air freight is way worse for the environment and more expensive to operate.

Unless I need an item urgently, I am totally fine with it appearing in 2 weeks to 2 months because it is so cheap.

              • @watwatwat: Haha seriously? Environment? Cargo ships run on what? Not to mention the potential for oil spillage?

Is it so cheap? I'm not sure. I haven't seen a massive difference in price in most things.

                • @dji1111111:

Environment? Cargo ships run on what? Not to mention the potential for oil spillage?

Do you really think that air travel is just as carbon intensive as shipping? lol. Cargo ships are very polluting but it is the lesser of two evils and they are as efficient as we can get for transport.

                  • @watwatwat: sure sure. I'm sure you weigh up the environment impact in a scientific manner with everything you do and purchase lol
Now I've heard everything. Who bases their choice of online seller on environmental impact of cargo ship vs air freight haha Most would pick air freight without hesitation since it's quick.

                    • @dji1111111:

Most would pick air freight without hesitation since it's quick.

Well the point is moot because it's primarily a consideration of cost.

The selection of items that you can air freight via Amazon at the same cost of aliexpress is very small to non existent.

      • Try 3 months. I received item end of Feb ordered start of Dec.

        • I received something in Feb 22 that I ordered early Nov 21. That was insane :D

    • +2

A lot of the items you can't get locally.
The watches are a lot more on eBay/Amazon, Myer doesn't sell the brands etc

    • +1

Same here. Bought a snow cannon in early Jan and still not even in the country.
My last 3 orders with Aliexpress
      1. Side mirror for scooter - cheap plastic broke off after only 2 months
      2. Scooter indicator light - after months of waiting, the item never turned up. Seller tried to push for replacement to be sent and continued to mess around so I gave up and raised a credit card dispute to get my money back.
      3. HRM monitor - despite good reviews, it was wildly inaccurate (reading 80bpm when I'm slogging up 10% incline lol) and therefore useless
      3. Xiaomi robot vacuum battery - dead after only 15 months. The original battery lasted me 5 years in comparison

Aliexpress is not even that cheap these days and I think I'll just pay a bit more in the future. If you don't need something for 3 months you probably don't need them that much in the first place.

      • Bought a snow cannon in early Jan and still not even in the country.

This is pretty standard for Aliexpress.

      • +4

Aliexpress is just a shopping / ecommerce platform like eBay
if you are buying stuff from eBay which ship from China I don't see the quality is much difference
so in terms of product quality, I would say its a case-to-case issue
I bought known branded items from Aliexpress and got well supports / refund when the item has issue

        1. Reolink IP camera (3rd time purchase, first 2 works for years), dead after 6 months, received new replacement
        2. Glass protector for iPad, DOA (cracked), received full refund
        3. Automatic Soap Dispenser, dead after 3 month, received new replacement

In terms of buyers protection, now Aliexpress accept paypal means you can dispute in either Aliexpress or paypal
Paypal usually go put favour to buyers in dispute cases, always get refund back (either partially or fully)

And lastly about shipping, we all know that it is still in pandemic and there's so many issues in logistic around the world
Shipping costs fly up high and many flights have not even been resumed
eg. many products shipped from China used to board on flights via Hong Kong
but Hong Kong has banned most commercial flights due to COVID, causing shipping on air significantly delayed
and not to say about all stages in a logistic chain, from local carriers, postman to customs are still below full capacity due to lack of staff issues

    • +1

Yea I've waited almost 3 months for some items. Most show up in 2 months and I've had a few turn up in 2 weeks. Shipping times are so inconsistent, even when using the same shipping method.

    • +2

Shipping lines are screwed at the moment. All of the cheap 2-3wk options and expensive EMS/DHL etc are all 2mths+ now.

Someone on another forum shared with me the boat schedules arriving at each state up to April.. there aren't many.

Basically, if you order just after the boat leaves, you are waiting the 1mth for the next boat, plus the 1mth for actual boat journey

    • +1

That's the tradeoff with aliexpress. You shouldn't rely on getting anything in less than 3 months or so (often it will come in less than that, but as I say, you shouldn't rely on it). The benefit is prices and range.

    • Yeah
      Don’t shop on AliExpress.

    • Some items not available locally. Often Ali is faster than international eBay sellers. Often not, depends how they ship.

    • Bought some stuff 9/2, arrived today 3/3. Would have been a couple of days sooner but got delayed by flood waters at Gympie.

  • +4

Not sure how I'm feeling about shopping with Ali at the moment when it also does a lot of business with Russia? Am i the only one?

    • -1

Russia is in bed with Russia so if you are worried about that then better stop using 90% of all the things you use as they are all made in china.

    • You need to wake up

      World is changing.

    • Yes, don’t forget all the other stuff the CCP are doing.

      • +6

@generalskunk Then don't buy anything from USA either. Their history of genocide and other stuff is even worse. In fact, if we take a closer look, there is no country in the world today that is clean and doesn't have some history of blemish.

        • Stuff takes a fair while to show up From there anyway and not really any cheaper these days

    • -3

Amazon on the way, support the US support the UN.

China Abstain from opposing Ukraine Crisis, they are staying neutral

    • when all the private corporations and countries
      publicly react the same way,
that should cause you to question the motives.

  • +8

    I'm all for Cashrewards.
But man, sometimes its frustrating when it doesnt get tracked, like the last 20% off ae offer back in end of January. Whereas the ones that get tracked are my cheaper ae orders.

    Still, i like cr.
    Stockholm's syndrome maybe.

    • +2

Yeah I got to put in a claim half of the time, other tribes tracks fine. Still 3 months till it's 'approved' from the 2/02/22 Ali express sale, and the amount doesn't even seem right.. $15 and should have been about $20+.

Guess you have to be happy with the price anyway, or they probably assume most people won't bother chasing up all the non tracked items.

      • Hmm, correct me if im wrong but $15 does sound like the max cap cashback for some CR's deals. Maybe thats why its $15. Least yours got tracked.

        • Hmm you should be correct but I didn't think there was a cap on this one. I had to contact them to get it to track, worth doing so if you haven't (also had to wait a while before i could using the app). It's just odd as the purchase amount doesn't even seem right either but $15 back is probably good enough as well as the $12 off for $80 or whatever it was.
          Cheers

        • Just checked, you are right it was capped at $15 :)

  • +1

Where is the link for all the eligible products? Thanks.

  • +1

:( just after i bought something and it went to shipping phrase, thats 11$ down the drain

    • I know how it feels. I always feel like I am waiting for the cashback these days to increase before I can buy stuffs just so i don't regret

  • -6

Surprised nobody posted it….. I don't know anybody that shops on this or alibaba. Never understood the attraction. Difficult to find things, everything looks dodgy, long delivery times, hard to navigate website.

I just checked out a mystery box on the site. $28 and all 5 star reviews. Check out the FAQ and everyone saying it was a scam and the reviews were fake and were made on the same day. On the ad it had pictures of good looking anglos holding a box with big smiles on their face - the type of photo you see on a retirement brochure with two grey haired white people looking so happy in a beautiful house. The website is junk and hosts crap sellers - can't tell the legit stuff from the crap.

    • +2

yeah seems like a cluster and most of it probably is rubbish, but just have to buy from shops/sellers recommended by others (ie. youtube channels, people you know etc). There are some good quality Chinese watches with Seiko internals etc, not just blatant knock-offs like you see in Thailand and Bali etc. Some examples are Steeldive, Pagani Official, etc. Again depends what you are after but these seem to turn up in 2 weeks or so which is pretty good.

      • 100%. Better off paying a bit more and following good reviews than taking a chance. No such thing as a free lunch.

    • Only bargain hunters shop on this website. The majority of the ignorant public shops at generic places and pay full price because they don't know any better and can't make the effort to research. I have never known of anybody who buys mystery boxes either. That seems stupid to me. Why would anyone in their right mind buy an unknown, lack of excitement in their life or they are screaming for more junk to be offloaded to them?

      • I'm one of those ones that struggle with research on dodgy sites like this, but what I do is research well on the high quality stuff from reputable retailers and purchase at good prices. I can afford to pay full price if I had to, but I can't afford to have junk in the house.

        • "I can afford to pay full price"

Why are you even on Ozbargain then… Just don't buy from AliExpress if you don't like it. Too much BS coming out of your mouth.

          • +1

@spendmoresavemore: I smell BS too. Usually people who have to emphasise their financial position are the most shaky.

    • +4

I don't know anybody that shops on this or alibaba
I just checked out a mystery box on the site

Seriously? I think you lose all your integrity when you complain about a site where you are wasting your money on trying to buy literally "mystery items".

  • +2

No more Aliexpress for me, China/Russia is not sitting well.

    Also, where is Jack Ma?

    • You think ordinary Russians can afford to buy from a Chinese site now?

      Jack Ma isn't missing.

      • -1

Ok some facts are in order it would seem.

5 days ago 1 Russian Ruble was about $0.012 US cents. Now it's about $0.0097 cents so there's been a drop and it's expected to drop further. Have you not seen the news about sanctions? Not looking good for their economy is it? Day to day expenses are pretty hard when your currency isn't worth anything. So why buy on AliExpress when it's going to cost a lot more, plus the customs tax? Assuming planes can get in of course.

In November 2020 Jack Ma disappeared for 3 months. We're long past 3 months now aren't we? Yes we are.

        • With 2000% interest rate, they can still afford AliExpress toys.

        • -3

Yep, he was "Seen" in Hong Kong once..
Yeah he is all good aye.

        • Russians are buying from aliexpress, as good hold more value then the rouble.

          • -1

@Stopback: On the contrary looking at AliExpress stats the sales from Russia are on the decline. This is unusual when there's coupons active.

    • Jack Ma's chilling at my place. He says hi.

      • Can you blackmail ask him to approve 99% cashback now?

    • Also, where is Jack Ma?

On the golf course. Think his been put to the pastures. He can play but not talk to the public.

      • It's a nice cover story, but he "disapeared" well and truly…

AliExpress don't honor refund. Purchased a Samsung battery from them and when it doesn't recharge AliExpress will ask you to contact Sumsung. When ask for refund instead, they flat out refused. Cashreward is also just as bad. Both same feather.

    • +2

So you opened a dispute on AliExpress and they said to contact Samsung? That doesn't sound right. Or did you message the seller?

    • This is the risk. AliExpress is dodgy as hell and won't support their customers like eBay or Amazon would.
Your only recourse if credit card chargeback.
Meanwhile, shortsighted people will continue buying junk from AliExpress.

    • +3

I've applied for loads of refunds for un-delivered items and they've honored it every time

  • +1

This doesn’t work in the app does it?

    • Would like to know this too

  • +1

Does this stack with the aliexpress discount codes like SPRING12

  • Aww crap, just bought $300 worth the other day! DOH!

    • +2

Just don't check if the items were Affiliate Products and just believe they weren't. Your soul will rest easy.

  • I just had bad experience when buying items from Aliexpress.
The system does not allow me to open dispute (for refund) until MAY 2022 or until I receive the item.
But the issue, seller is not able to deliver the item.
Does anyone know how to contact CS? since it is only automatic response when trying to use their chat.

  • Poco F3 or Poco X4 Pro?

  • How does it work out the cashback when you pay in USD?

    • my purchase shows $33usd on CR even though I paid $51.34aud

  • Was this not capped at $50 at one stage?
