Good price, but fair warning: This took my 12 Pro Max down from 95% to 86% battery health in about 3 months. Anyone else have similar experiences?

My iPhone 12 Pro Max is still at 93% battery health after a years use with daily charging. Tho I’m using Anker charger

      • +2

I think they mean using MagSafe hurts battery

    • Yes. Similar experience but with magsafe battery pack. Though I have monthly apple care attached to my apple account so it all good once I need battery replacement

    • Mine is 92%, I've been using it exclusively for about a year.

    • Mine is down to 89% and have never used wireless charging. I think the issue may be related to fast charging as I use the 20w plug. IMO regular “slow” charging has less impact on battery health, based on my older devices’ battery health

    • yup, iPhone 13 Pro Max, 5 months in I'm down to 95% already. I had Apple looking into this and had my phone swapped over at the retail store.

I was given an advice in descreet - don't charge your phone via magsafe in an enclosed case as the heat would accelerate the battery's health degradation process.

    • Isn't magsafe just wireless charging?

I use an anker wireless charger, upright and flat at home, and lightning chargers, and lightning chargers on the car and wireless chargers on the car. My phone is charged like 3-4 times a day as i plug it in via apple carplay so it often gets charged when it doesn't need to be.

4 month old iphone 13 and it's still on 99%

Or is magsafe the culprit here?

      • Additional heat could be part of the equation.

Best to avoid, unless you upgrade your phone every year.

  • Thanks OP

It's not MagSafe ruining your battery, it's probably how inefficient and how much heat wireless charging conducts.

    • Idk, I’ve had an iPhone 12 and S 21 ultra for roughly the same time, both wirelessly charge daily beside being plugged in for Android Auto. s21 Ultra has faster wireless charging speeds and seems to be ok

  • Best to have classic wired charging. Each to their own though.

12 Pro user here, battery dropped to 88% from 96% within a 6 months after using magsafe charger

  • Legitimate question: can anyone explain to me what the advantage of this is over just plugging in the normal cable? It seems to me you either just plug it in with the lighting port at the bottom or you spend a bunch of money to charge it from the back for some reason?
Maybe if the wireless charger was a large pad that could charge multiple devices at once it might be useful to free up power points but with 1-1 per charger and device, when would this ever be useful?

I use this for two things.
      1. I have one double sided taped to vertical panel on my desk so it's quick and easy to charge it and no cables for it hanging around.

      1. In the car, wireless charging mount.

Other than these two things there really isn't any need for it.

So when you’re playing with your phone in bed you don’t have to relocate your pinky because there’s a cable underneath.

My bedside charging unit for phone, watch and AirPods has a multi angle magsafe charger slot. It’s been a game changer, honestly.

      • What's the charger unit you've got?

I got this one because you can put in your watch series 7 cable which supports fast charging.

    • Thanks for the feedback guys; I can appreciate the value of it in those use cases.

    • As compared to traditional Qi chargers it lines up with phone quite easily where previously I would put phone on the charger thinking it started only to find out later that it wasn’t. Really annoying.
Also you can move around with it and not be concerned that charging port will be damaged in case its pulled hard. I use it on my bedside table so this comes quite handy.

Although I have not received any battery degradation on my 13 Pro Max like other users are reporting its still 100% and I have been using it from day one on magsafe every night.
Although I do put the magsafe side up (Just me being quirky thinking that it may dissipate heath efficiently. Not sure if that works though lol)

    • I have a wireless charger next to my bed, and a traditional wired one there too. I never plug it in, because I can just slap it on the wireless one without looking, and I don't have to fish around for the cable

If I need a quick top up during the day I plug mine in
