I've gone through 3 different MX Master mice, and I honestly wouldn't recommend them.

They always start out good and they feel good to use, but for the price the lifespan isn't okay. The exterior always falls apart and starts crumbling away after 1 - 2 years of use. Sure you can keep on using the disgusting mouse that is dropping whatever resin they are made out of all over your workstation, but I'm just a little bit too OCD to accept it.

I'm still using the original mx master purchased in 2018 with no issues since

      • +1

I bought my MX Anywhere original in 2010/2011. Still good for office use :-)

        • Same! Although Im finding the battery life is getting shorter - need to recharge more often.

          • @auswill: I have an old MX anywhere that just takes a rechargeable AA. When the battery life started dying recently I replaced it with an Eneloop AA and it is going good again.

      • Same I've had mine since 2016. It's showing its age badly physically but still performs like champ.

Would jump on this deal but I don't have Klarna.

OG mx revolution here, just put in new microswitches, should get another 15 years out of it….

        • I was on my third set of switches in my old MX Revo when Logitech finally released the MX Master. I think I'm on my third MX Master now (use at both work and home) but at least I can buy new ones now - changing switches it too much trouble for me.

      • Same here, however only issue I had was with the thumb key getting stuck (apparently a known issue). Open and lifted the button back up and its back in business :)

    • What is this resin you speak of?

Do you use it on a mouse pad?

      • -1

I don't know what it is but it's whatever the mouse is made of - it crumbles away and it's gross. I've never used a master 3 so I don't know if it does the same thing.

Here's my MX vertical after a year and a half of use, it's just the most recent one, I had the same thing happen to an MX anywhere 2 and an MX master 1.

Maybe they just can't handle the tropical Qld humidity.

        • +2

Wow. That's some wear there. Almost looks like something's been gnawing at it.

I've used mine for a year and a bit every day and nothing remotely close to any signs like that in your pic.

          • @Munki: Yeah, I tried contacting logitech complaining that this kind of wear is unacceptable for a year and a half of moderate use but didn't hear anything back.

            • -1

@yobeets: It comes with manufacturers warranty 1 year, if you pay with your credit card, it extends another year. You can get a quote from Logitech on how much it is to repair and just claim from cc

              • +1

                @c9:

                • if your cc provides that. CCs aren't all the same, you know?
          • @Munki: Same thing has happened to two of my MS Mice, an ARC mouse, lasted about 3 years and did much the same as the photo, it wasn't even used that much, just when I was out and about with my Surface Pro and my newer MS BT Ergonomic Mouse has just started doing it (on the side where you thumb goes) My suspicion is its age related not use related..

        • +3

Last time I saw this kind of rubber damage on my mouse was due to mice (rodents) eating the rubber.

if not, try washing your hands with soap :)

      • Presumably the same stuff as many mice. Both of my MS mouses have done the same thing, the current one has just started, that's about 2 yrs old old, the second was a MS ARC mouse that lasted about 3 years and started "shedding".

    • +5

Mx user for years as well. Do you wash your hands?

      • +2

LOL! Probably a reaction to post-pron residue?

    • My MX Master 2 is going strong. I have to give it a wipe clean every now and again.

Maybe your hands are gross too and it's accumulating grime and sweat.

    • Still sporting the original mx master from 2018.

I am aware of the resin, and not sure what causes it. But it's not that bad. I just wipe down my table every so often.

    • +1

I've been using a MX Master 2S since start of 2019, has worked almost perfectly and is still my daily for WFH and gaming. I said 'almost' because the only issue I've had is the button at the thumb becoming 'sticky', which I fixed in 2mins by ever so slightly loosening the button mount screws inside. Haven't experienced any crumbing or falling apart of the exterior, I've always used it on a mousepad, and not when eating anything with my hands.

If this mouse broke today, I'd happily get the MX Master 3 - especially at this price!

    • Curious. Is your experience specific to MX Master 3 or the previous ones? I have a 5 year old MX Master (original version) and although it has recently failed (Bluetooth issues) the exterior is still fine and I don't see any resin.

    • I've had this with various electronics with that "soft touch rubber." Usually after a few years, but it's not consistent. I think it might have something to do with exposure to direct sunlight

    • +2

My father in law destroys TV remotes with his acidic skin. You may have the same problem.

    • I have bought 3 MX Masters (not the 3). One stopped responding and because it was under warranty, it was replaced with a Master 3. The other two are still going great.

I did notice the battery was slowly dying on one, but you can buy replacements.

I like that I can swap between my desktop and laptop with the flick of a switch.

    • Have to wonder what sort of oils your skin secrets to erode the mouse surface so quickly… Excess sweat perhaps?

Only issue I've had with this mouse so far is the stupid scrolling issue

      • I've considered that, but everything else I own and touch frequently is in excellent condition. Maybe there's just something about the material these mouses are made of that degrades with my skin oils.

    • Sure you can keep on using the disgusting mouse that is dropping whatever resin they are made out of all over your workstation

xenomorph? its skin oozes acid, not good for any rezin.

    • I wonder what the common denominator with all these mice is…

  • I got a chance to try this mouse for one day. My previous mouse was a MX Anywhere (v1).
This MX Master 3 feels weird in my hand - not as solid as the my old mouse. I also didn't know how to reach the swipe button with my thump. Ended up not using that mouse after 3/4 day trying with it.

    • Swipe button?

      • Sorry, the term they use is "gesture button": "click and hold the button as you move the mouse to…"
I felt very awkward to follow that - needed to move my thumb out of the side of the mouse (hence no more proper hold of it) and apply some force on that button. Also tried to press with my thumb's knuckle, no luck :-)

        • +1

          Ohh right.

You know what, I've never used that button.

          • @Munki: I've been using MX Masters since they came out, and I recall trying that button for a little while, I think I set it to double click for some specific purpose, but haven't used it for many years now. I'm pretty sure it's disabled on my current mouse.

        • Took me a bit to get used to that button. Had the same issue where I had to shift my hands to use it. Not anymore.

    What's this Klarna sh*t now?
Hoping for Jeffy to drop price on Amazon.

    • +1

Considering its not their actual listed price, I dont see much chance that Amazon will match it.

  • Any recommendations on a wireless mouse that can swap between two or three computers without having to remove a USB connector?

    • +2

I haven't tried that feature, but it looks like this MX series could do that. On the underside of this mouse there's a button which allows switching between 3 devices

    • +1

This mouse can connect to 3 different devices.

    • This mouse can do that. It uses the unifying usb dongle, so if you have other Logitech peripherals which also use one of those dongles, then you can switch them easily without having to rely on bluetooth.

    • This can do it as others have mentioned. Can do via bluetooth and usb device (you may need to buy extra or bluetooth adapters)

  • Waiting for the mac version. Dammn!!!

    • +6

Its effectively the same thing, I believe the Mac version just doesn't include the usb receiver. I bought this one for my Mac.

      • What's the point of the mac version then?

3 letters for less versatility? 🤔

        • USBC-USBC at least.
          The Windows version is USBA-USBC

    • +3

Mac version is Regular/Windows version without the receiver. Just get the Regular

  • thanks. I used that to buy myself a MX vertical instead. :)

good price but cbf with klarna

Love my MX Master 2S, but purchased the MX Master 3 late last year and regret it.

I noticed when scrolling, particularly in ratchet mode, the scroll distance is really quite inconsistent. Sometimes it will scroll a couple of lines, sometimes several, and sometimes none.

Obviously I'm never going to get 100% consistency with how far I move the wheel, but it seems very unpredictable compared to the 2S.

Really frustrating when scrolling through a code editor and it jumps quite random distances (or not at all) and you lose position in the code and ultimately focus.

Tried a firmware upgrade, and same problem occurs on Linux, Mac and Windows. Not sure if I should opt for a replacement or try get a refund.. Seems like others have experienced similar from what I've read.

Sticking with the 2S for now, as the 3 isn't worth the upgrade

    • I also prefer the geo pattern on the 2S vs the 3, and also the side back/forth button layout as well.

  • Shouldnt MX Master 4 should be releasing soon?

    • Ppl were asking the same question since last year.
      There's no info at all

  • Coupon code doesn’t work? Says invalid?

    • +1

You need to choose to pay using Klarna payment method. It's another afterpay type service. "I am aware a credit check might be done (FAQ)."

  • Come on, Amazon, you can do better!!!

  • Tired of recharging my mx master 1 every few days. What's the real-world battery life for mx 3?

    • +1

your battery sounds shot, my several years old mx master 1 still holds its charge for weeks on end

      • Weeks? Mine never lasted more than 2 weeks even when brand new with 5-6 hours use per day (no gaming though).

        • +1

mmmmm it sounds like the battery might have been a bit faulty from day 1.

I use it daily, for work, 6-7 hours a day, since 2018 or so. or maybe my memory is the one that's faulty. I don't exactly keep a log.

I still use my mx master 1, and definitely know I don't charge it weekly.

  • Does anyone use these for gaming? Are they any good?

    • not ideal for fps. okay for everything else. gamed with my mx master 1 for years.

      • Yeah, they're a palm mouse so and they're heavy so they're not a gaming mouse. That said, it depends on what you expect and how you game. You certainly can game with this just fine.

  • My only minor gripe is this is that the button to switch between devices cannot be remaped to any other button, it must be triggered with the button at the bottom of the mouse, breaking my workflow experience. It's a rather minor inconvenience but seems unnecessary one.

  • Man this is a great deal! I've been using the MX Master 3 as my daily driver for a few months now, would've jumped at this price (I got it for around $110 from Mwave I think). I use it for Engineering work (AutoCAD, SolidWorks etc) and for alot of video/photo editing and it performs pretty seamlessly across these areas. Awesome for scrolling, definitely not a gimmick!

Battery life is solid af. I use this for 3-4 hours daily and don't need to charge for, on average, 2-2.5 weeks.

I don't have hulk hands either but this thing feels perfect to me. I should add though that I never use the internal button located on the thumb area, just weird to press due to the wrist position. Great find OP.

  • I have had the MX 2s for a few years now and the battery is holding up well but the scroll wheel rubber/plastic was a mess so I took it all off and now just have a bare metal wheel but it is still working well and no residue. Waiting for the MX 4 to upgrade.

  • Bought it the other day from OW $122 - Totally worth it for this price. Super comfortable, tons of shortcut options. Scroll wheels are fantastic. Super light as well. If you your workflow involves hours of mouse use per day, it is a no brainer.

  • Any ideas if this fits small hands or any alternatives?

    • it's a bit of a preference, my partner preferred the much smaller mx anywhere series.

this is a chunky mouse but I'd imagine it would fit most, unless hands are really small

      • Partner is getting cramps from the anywhere mouse cos working 10h a day. I said needs some more breaks\stretching but also thought I got cramps from the anywhere mouse after a long day myself (but I have big hands).

        Thanks for the reply

        • +1

I reckon give this a go. I too, find the mx anywhere mouse a bit too small for long term use.

This should be far more ergonomic than the mx anywhere series. for something you use 10 hours a day, it’s worthwhile to get a good one you’re comfortable with.

  • Anyone have any issues with connectivity on a Mac device? I intermittently experience a stutter that really bugs me.

    • MX Master 3 works perfectly with Macs in my experience.

I've got 2, one used with a 2018 MBP and the other a Mac mini.

No stuttering or anything like that. Assuming that by stuttering you are referring the the mouse cursor movement or scrolling? Both silky smooth here.

  • Ripper deal, can speak from experience, having used this mouse for a good 8 months now and paying a lot more :)

  • Anybody know why I am getting a "Sorry we can't process your order" Please try another payment type.

  • Can anyone that has owned a g700s comment on how the ergonomics compare? My g700s is just so comfortable..

  • Selected the Klarna payment method. At the final payment screen Pay $105 today with CC then prompts:
Sorry, we can't complete this purchase
Please choose a different payment option.
They now have my CC details and I couldn't checkout.

  • Im still using a Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse MX from 2009!

  • -2

Well I'm still using a no-name bluetooth $11 eBay special from 2017 that uses solar recharged power on Ikea Laddas

  • Umart have cancelled my order (angry)
