  Stopped using them after they retired the free version. Tried the paid version and my pc kept having bsods once or twice a day, and not responding when turning monitor back on.

      The same guys who recommends Windows Defender and Malwarebytes (free version) says that other decent antivirus give a "false sense of security"? That's so incoherent that I thought you were being sarcastic.

      A false sense of security is having AV software that don't actually offer a decent protection.
      Malwarebytes free has no real-time protection, which means it's essentially useless except for on-demand scan. Still, the detection is average-low and can't be compared to decent AV softwares.

      Windows Defender is getting better but its detection is not as good as Bitdefender, Kaspersky, F-Secure.

      You don't have to share your opinion if you don't really know what you are talking about.

        Just an example from today, but both Malwarebytes and Defender missed it (*I haven't tested them, but apart from Bitdefender, F-Secure, and McAfee, detections on Virustotal are usually reliable)

  In regards to comments regarding Microsoft defender whilst good, and getting very good, is also a the number one target for malware trying to deactivate it.
