  • Is this a good reliable brand?

    • +2

I bought one about 18m ago at $670. BingLee sell the same one under a different brand, as does Aldi I think. All the same machine save for the manufacturer's name. Been good for us, it's efficient and being a heat pump doesnt vent into our laundry. Easy to clean out the lint filter and also the water tank. I was sceptical, but the reviews were good. We needed one quickly and it was in stock at the time.

      • +1

how fast does it dry a big load of washing?

        • +3

Wondering that too. I've heard that heat pump dryers take forever.

        • +3

1.5hr for a pretty full load. Uses hardly any power so takes longer but uses little.

          • +1

@jaymzrsa: ^^^^ this. It does take longer, but it's more energy efficient so ends up using less.
Now I've got solar we use it more though. We dont usually put big loads in, often kids stuff or towels. I find afer an hour it's usually done (if not sooner).

            • +1

@nafe: Kinda of defeats the purpose of running this on solar when you can dry it outside under the sun. Dryer tends to be for when it’s raining

              • +1

@pongie: I believe wind speed and humidity are far greater factors with drying rather than whether the sun is shining. With this humidity, La Nina and frequent showers it can be a challenge to line dry things even if the sun shines for a lot of the day.

              • @pongie: I have also been using it with the solar also. The machine is faster at drying clothes than the clothesline. Sometimes running it for an hour when solar output is higher it’s worthwhile because the feed in tariff isn’t awesome. In Sydney we have hardly had a week without rain showers this year.

              • @pongie: Nope, I can generate enough solar power to run the Machine when there's not much sun out which means the clothes won't dry on the line (as others have also mentioned),

              • @pongie: for me, drying it in the sun stinks my clothes. smells like flowers when i bring it outside, comes back in the house smelling like the outdoors. not fresh smelling at all. :(

      • Thank you there are positive reviews going for this. I was looking for 8kg model but this seems interesting

    • +1

Bought mine 2018 and it has not skipped a beat. We have 2 kids and it goes all year round. Just make sure you empty the lint containers (both of them) and you're good. I have mine draining directly. I imagine, if you had to constantly empty the water reservoir it would get tedious.

      • does your unit get interrupted halfway with a lint full warning? I clean out both the traps and filters each time I use it but for some reason it keeps saying it's full…

        • +1

I've never had a full lint warning ever. I empty after every load. Clothes out, clean lint tray. It's just habit now.

          • @jaymzrsa: you are suppose to before running it. it is completely full every time i clean mine out, there is no way it can vent for the next load, lol.

      • +1

For draining directly, is it into the under sink U bend like a front loader washer?

I can't find anything that will allow me to connect both my front loader drain and heat pump dryer drain at the same time.

        • Some laundry sinks have a hole for a drain hose on the top, and another connector on the U bend underneath.

          • @Crimzic: Yeah that works if your laundry is that style but ours is all hidden underneath so it's neater. The sink does have the corner hole like most laundry sinks (with a cover), but even if we didn't mind having the drain visible (which we don't want), there is no hole to get the pipe through the bench.

        • My dryer sits on top of the washer so the drain goes into the sink rather than into the plumbing pipes.

        • my washer is inside, and my dryer is outside. mine drains into 2 different places so i don't have that issue.

    • meh

  • +2

probably missed this one too OP

    • Oh wow! I definitely missed that one and I was looking for washing machine and dryer at that time. I got a nice washer deal but still haven't found a dryer deal under $500.
I'm kinda shattered tbh as I hate paying more than the best historical price lmao

      • you and me both!
I got all my gift card ready then it went OOS just minute before purchasing..
I was shattered so i promised myself not to buy any dryer and just hang all my clothes to dry…

        • +1

Haha! Yeah I've going my clothes out for most of my life and tbh I'd only be buying it for the 10 or so times a year there's either days on end of wet weather or I've been to lazy to get the stuff I need washed and dried on time lol
I had a drier in my first flat after moving out on my own and find myself quickly relying on it instead of using it as a backup system and as such was ruining clothes faster than necessary and paying some damn expensive electric bills (& prices weren't anywhere near what they are these days)
I think heat pump driers are much better on clothes than traditional ones but even still it'll be used sparingly I hope but who knows I might look at a pile of washing and think naah it's easier to just throw it in the next machine haha

  • Any 8kg heat pump dryer offers? Was looking at this. Any thoughts?
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-8kg-series-8-heat-pump-dr…

    • +2

Honestly except for one that was in ALDI special buys there haven't been any great 8kg offers. This particular model is price and review wise at least a standout. Unless that extra 1kg capacity is a absolute deal breaker I'd buy this and run it a little more often.
That being said, this is OzB and it's possible a brilliant 8kg model will pop up for $400 tomorrow made in Germany with a 7yr warranty lol

      • Ha ha very well said

      • Also consider that your dryer should have a bigger capacity than your washer. Eg when you load your 7kg washer, your clothes are dry. When you go to load the 7kg dryer, the wet clothes are heavier. Unless you have factored this in and load less into your washer

        • Absolutely did not factor thank you for your point

  • this one or Bosch? any comments?

    • This $550 dryer or a $1300 dryer?
      Is that a serious question?

      • +2

well is 1300 really worth 1300? For all we know, it might come from the same factory…

        • Maybe consider the energy efficiency stars rating, as generally the higher end models are more efficient.

    • It's flimsier than the Bosch one but it works just as well, possibly dries slightly faster than the Bosch. I've had this one for a year and i've used a Bosch heat pump drier when visiting my parents.

      • +1

That's really helpful! many thanks mate:)

    • Not a direct answer to your question, but we got a Bosch dishwasher for $1200 and I honestly wouldn't pay that much money for a dishwasher again. Unless you are a stickler for that perfect shine on your expensive glassware. The same and even worse goes for our $1200 Smeg electric oven. The Smeg oven takes long to heat up and it doesn't bake evenly. I can not see how a $600 oven would do worse. We got a Westinghouse standalone oven with cooktop at work $850 new. The Westinghouse oven is better than the Smeg beyond comparison.

    • i have a bosch, and its great. i don't know if this is any good. im guessing it won't last as long, but you are also paying 1/3 of the price.

  • +3

Listing says item ships from Sydney, but will not deliver to Sydney Metro…

    • +3

I've asked them before and below was their answer.

"Ebay shows our stock country-wide as a default setting. If it's out of Ebay stock in your state at the moment, it won't let you purchase it via the Ebay Store as we have to be able to deliver any orders placed within a reasonable time frame in agreement with Ebay. Once back in stock in your state, it comes available to order again on the website."

    • just chuck it on your shoulders mate

  • +1

How did you manage to post this? It totally blocked me when I tried a couple hours ago because the code had already been posted on a freezer offer lol
I don't understand the OzB system somtimes lol
    Great post OP

    • +1

So you were Frozen out ?

      • That's cold….

      • I guess he just "let it go"

        • probably just having a brain freeze moment..

  • +1

who can actually get this delivered?

    • -3

      A delivery company?

    • Got it delivered to Melbourne

  • +1

Have anyone managed to stack this dryer on top of a washing machine?

    • Yes, I did, a year ago. All good here. Just placed Thick foam mat in between.

      • +5

Keep in mind the machine is 57kg, so with a full load that's 64kg on your washing machine.

Last time I put 64kg on my washing machine she fell off…

But in all seriousness the specs say it is stackable:
        Stackable: Yes

        • At that weight, I have no clue how can I hang it to the wall ( the previous owner if my appartment took off the original drier, so there are two “hooks”(?) on the wall).

          • +2

@aec: It was probably a traditional drier (much lighter) I wouldn't even try to wall mount a heat pump drier without getting it done professionally.

          • +1

@aec: You can get a staking kit which has some locking screws to prevent getting crushed.
But at 60kgs I wouldn't risk it personally.
Or risk damaging my $1500 washing machine.

      • I do this too. It's a Bosch washing machine. Appliances online deliver so fast I had to rush out and buy a mat from Bing Lee for $40.

I didn't consider hanging it on the wall. It's not like a tumble dryer, it's properly heavy.

        • +1

Did the appliance online delivery guys lift it onto the washing machine for U? Or did u have to manage it urself?

          • @helloeverybody: They did it for me couple of weeks back. Ordered a $20 mat with my Bosch heat pump dryer from appliances online, in the delivery instructions requested for stacking on top of existing washing machine, and they delivery guys stacked it for me at no extra cost.

    • yup. I have a Britec dryerstand maxi and it's awesome. It's expensive but for peace of mind knowing it's not going to fall or damage anything I thought it was worth it compared to those plastic looking stacker units
      https://www.britec.com.au/product/dryer-stand-maxi/

Have a look at this frame lol looks built sturdy enough to lift a truck if you put one on each corner lol. $295 for a drier stand is a bit much though but I guess if you'd paid $1500+ like many of the high end ones are out wouldn't bother you.

    • I stack my heat pump dryer on top of my washer with a mat purchased from the good guy for 1 and half year. Check regularly, looks perfectly fine. If you want to more secure, buy a stacking kit which cost a little bit more.

  • I have this, it's pretty good!

  • Am eyeing the Electrolux EDH903BEWA as that's the one that does a good reverse tumble to avoid creating laundry sushi rolls.

Also available using this code and cheapest I've seen in awhile. But I just burnt all my cash on new doors 😭

    • Almost 3x the price of this one…sushi or no sushi, that is the question…

      • Yeah, a fair bit of coin for something that's only really useful 1 season a year. Will almost never pay for itself.
Arguably, it's also good for summer as it'll save me from hanging laundry out in the scorching heat and swarms of flies…

Probably better bang for buck to put the cash towards a heat pump water heater first

    • out of stock selling to melbourne on ebay :(

  • +1

Thanks, Good price but definitely not cheapest ever on ob $495 looks like record https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/611181

  • What's the best dryer out there ? Not value wise or power saving but functional and tech.

    • +2

The bosch serie 8 heat pump, got it for about 1.2k on sale

  • ugh ive been eyeing this one for ages and would've snapped it up in this deal but no stock in Sydney…

  • Can this be flipped and wall mounted?

    • Lol it's 57kgs. What do you think?

      • -2

        Ok, can it be flipped?

        • Just stack it or put it under a bench. Heat pump dryers have a lot more internal components than a vented dryer. Hence the weight and water drain pipe/reservoir.

    • Heat pump machines are usually heavy and is not recommended for wall mounting. They can’t be flipped for mounting as they don’t allow to invert control panel and water reservoirs.

  • No delivery to Sydney metro? Wtf

  • I did a quick search here about the Appliance Online eBay store not delivering to Canberra despite them doing so for free from their regular website, and found this explanation by the rep saying you could place the order to a different address then call them up to override it. However that post is five years old now. Anyone tried it more recently know whether they still allow that workaround?

  • Looks to be sold out.

  • Congrats to the ~19 ozbargainers that ordered and could actually have it delivered to their residence lol

  • Ugh never any stock for Sydney when I need it.

    • Back in stock now. Just bought one. Don't know how many in stock

  • Missed out again…

  • Wow it goes quick

  • Damn, missed out again.

    • Back in stock now. Just bought one

      • Ta, saw that but alas I'm now third world of NSW Regional :D

  • +1

I've had mine for just under three years and it broke down. As it is no longer under warranty, I have spent the past couple of weeks trying to find someone on the Gold Coast who services Esatto. So just beware, if you do not live in a capital city, you may have problems getting it serviced.

Of the three service agents Residentia referred me to that supposedly serviced the Gold Coast - one didn't service the Gold Coast at all, one didn't service Esatto and the remaining one did but is now moving to the Sunshine Coast so no longer servicing the Gold Coast. So, yeah, I'm in a bit of trouble.

    • Cheap ones always good to have a extra warranty

      • +1

Got the beko 8kg over the Bosch series 8 because of the 5 year warranty on the whole thing and 10years on motor/heat pump vs Bosch 2 years

        • How do you rate Beko? I am in the market for one. Send enquiry to Appliances Online to match price but they cannot match eBay price

          • @Boomer85: So far so good dries quick and doesn't miss anything, considered the Eko but went with the 5 years warranty but at $999 was a fair bit more.

  • +1

Back in stock now. Just bought one. Don't know how many in stock
