  • I just signed up for a year got this and the $40 voucher . eBay plus for free.

    • Have you had eBay plus before ?

      • +1

        Yes

        • Did you get the voucher instantly? I signed up (again) via the $40 sign up bonus link, bust just got a $10 voucher only.

          • @Danstar: would like to know it as well. I have the $40 sign up bonus link on my ebay as well

            • @shahrah: I got the $10 voucher instantly, spoke to live chat about it and got told that I should've got the $40 voucher, that he will escalate it and I'll get it in about 5-7 days

          • @Danstar: I got the $40 right after I signed up ,the $10 voucher only shower up in the giftcard, vouchers, coupon section.

    • Did you just sign up from the page that shows $40 voucher upon joining?

      • Yep

    • Thanks for the tip! This worked for me as well.

  • +3

They gave me $50 when i joined and $30 each year when i refuse to renew! :)

    • How does that work. Please explain 😃

      • +1

Try to cancel your subscription. After the third of fourth 'Next" they'll throw a $30 gift card at you to tempt you to stay.

        • It specifies you get the gift card 10 days after your pay your subscription renewal fee.

I wonder if he got the gift card then cancelled the subscription through customer service, which I've been told they will only ever refund as a one-off courtesy?

          • @Junk Sifter: I didn't read vid_ghost's message the same way as you. I read it as "when I fake-refuse to renew, then renew anyway".

        • Thanks. I ll try that

        • +1

Need to chose the right reason from the drop box when cancelling to get the voucher. Something like "it costs too much". I chose "I don't use it" and didn't get a voucher.

I found it less (almost zero) benifits to become a plus member, or even buying on eBay, as I have noticed recently that the prices for most items selling on eBay are actually higher than what they are selling in the online shops, especially the PC parts/components.

They used to run 20% off promotes quite often for the plus members but these days 7% (and 5% for non-plus members), which is laughable.

Plus a long term PJ issue which a lot of eBay stores are enjoying doing before a big discount event is started, which makes it a lot less enjoyable trying to find a real "deal" on it.

    • You're spot on here with your assessment, 20% eBay + sales always tend to be over priced but their recent tech sale had no GPUs at all, I think there was 2 pages of GPU fans and cheap stuff that no one in their right mind would buy.
eBay offer the sales, they should offer it on the incentives where your membership entitles you to perks, not rubbish like they are offering now.
I remember the good ole days when 20% off meant 20% off, not just select items no one wanted.

I really wonder how they are surviving ( and how people pay for eBay plus).. with $60 odd a year, you are getting so much with prime..also deals are better there.. (and eBay will not let you leave negative comments/feedback for their favoured sellers)…

True, ebay is not as good as it used to be and ebay plus is a con, but it's still the place to go for price comparison, and specials do deliver some real bargains at times. Ebay is still cheaper than Amazon and Kogan, which have even worse member programs. Join up or get slugged for shipping? That's not a loyalty program, that's blackmail.

    • The only benefit I found, at least when ebay plus started (not sure if its the same now) was they had a sort of premium phone support thing that was helpful for ebay disputes.

I'll wait until I need that help before subscribing again. Not that I buy much from ebay any more.

  • I was once a eBay plus member (three years ago I guess) using the same email address where I got this offer today.
So, I'm kind of surprised at receiving offer in the email because it should have been re-join eBay plus?
Also, when it says join eBay plus does this mean we cannot enjoy the trial period of a month and we have to pay at least $4.99? It still is a free $5 but just want to know how it works.

  • Any good buy for $10?

  • +1

Next time they give me a $50 voucher to sign up i'll sign up for another year (looks like my subscription has just ended).

  • Would only take this out again if the voucher was the same value as the sign up fee

Otherwise ebay plus gets a big thumbs down

    • +1

      They're offering a $10 voucher for a single month $4.99 subscription… unless you didn't get targeted or prefer a $4.99 voucher instead.

      • *only giving up my credit card for the yearly offer
Likely nothing decent will come up in the month this promotion runs for from history.

  • +2

You cannot use any other eBay codes alongside these vouchers which might not sit well with a lot of folks.

  • I got an offer for $40 voucher for a year's worth of subscription.

  • -1

This deal suggests to me that ebay is going to put a surcharge on shipping for most items, like Amazon does. You don't want to pay for shipping? Join Plus for only $4.99 a month, cancel anytime, because we know you'll forget.

There needs to be a class action to stop this crap, like there was against bank charges.

  • Does the $10 voucher must spend on eBay plus items?

  • I never use ebay anymore, moved to Amazon with much better return defective policoes.
There are many international sellers claiming to be in Australia. They usually buy thibgs from overseas and once received they re-send to you. It takes 1 months and they blaim Covid. Paypal does not cover ebay anymore too.

  • Not sure if it’s worth the hassle. If I need something via eBay plus I sing up with a new email for an eBay plus trial. Amazon and Catch are better theses days!

  • I received this offer and signed up as I’ve been eyeing some pasta bowls eBay Myer store. They are currently half price. However, when I apply the $10 off code, it comes up with the message “this code can’t be applied to your order”. Anyone know if it can only be used on full price items?
