I'd prob steer clear of these open box 5600x or opt to return yours. Mine came with all pins and underside coated with or has remnants of thermal paste. Not sure how this qualifies as a CPU that can be resold again when previous user applied thermal paste directly to pins and socket….looks to have attempted to be cleaned as well….lol. Not very happy, after sending pics of 10x Microscope it's gone quiet….
If the paste is non conductive and the pins aren’t bent should be fine. You could always spray a bunch of alcohol onto the cpu and use compressed air to blow it off to remove the remnants though.

Lel I don't expect a retailer to accept my return if I screwed up installation…and am still surprised they accepted this return as a change of mind.
Don't see how this is a 'what did you expect' issue. It shouldn't be re-sold if there was potential damage. Similar situation to the whole GN vs Newegg (open box with damaged pins and thermal paste in socket, very similar), it shouldn't be re-sold. That is that.
Anyway, SE is accepting return. Props to them.

Surely they tested it before they sent it out to you to make sure it worked after cleaning. Did it not POST on your board?
