Sure it's edge lit, but I think this is a good price for a 40" Bravia LED and may be one of the last chances to grab a runout 2011 model before the more expensive new season models come in. It has some Smart TV features if you're interested and also is capable of 3D but requires the purchase of glasses.
When combined with the giftcards from this deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/68504) it comes to about $630, which is a bit of a steal.

Picked up one on Friday with a price match (from JB Hifi in the Brisvegas, Adelaide St) and it's a superb set, some say it's slightly faster in response time than the newer ones. Best to go quickly though, most are run out of this already.

How did you do that? Did you bargain it down to $1k and then use the gift card to get 20% off? Can I have your receipt? I am thinking of doing the same.
Which store did you get it from? It's out of stock for the few branches I checked.
I got the TV at Caseldine store, Brisbane. It was the last brand new one. I am pretty sure this is a discontinued model and they are clearing that for the new 750 model. On the receipt it'd be $1000 but you are paying by the gift cards which you got it for $800.
Did the same, got my 46" for only $774. Had trouble finding stock though.
