  • This Dell 8950 with i9, 3080, 32gb of DDR5 ram deal is back
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334292295412

Not sure if it's worth it for $3099 considering prices of GPUs are plummeting.

    • +1

Not worth it mate. Now the DDR5 4400 is not better than DDR4 3600. Pretty sure DIY can give you much better parts and thermal performance in similar price.

      • Yeah, better to wait 6 months to see what zen4 and Lovelace brings

  • +3

Not trying to be a dick, but these Dell eBay promos are so frequent, to a point that it makes these promos the 'normal' prices. Apparently Dell is trying to segment the market knowing but I guess it's a good thing for us.

    • -5

Dell has no controls over these eBay sales, it’s eBay promotion, they promote and manage these sales, and probably eBay funding. I talked to a Dell rep before and she told me that.

      • +1

The 20% off store specific sales that you see for Dell, Lenovo, Microsoft, etc are funded by their respective companies. eBay funds a very small portion of the sales on their site in general

  • Any deals for AW3423DW? Thanks for hustling dealbot !

    • It looks like it is listed on the ebay page hopefully it stays. Link

      • shit very tempting but still not sold on the idea that this expensive monitor could have burn in…

        • When I saw this deal yesterday, the AW3423DW was my first thought, but I am concerned about burn-in like you. Also, I'm not entirely sure my 3080 could fully take advantage of it…

          • @Elderlymango: I mean see if you can run games at 4k at your desired fps, thats essentially the best test for it since its just a bit shy of 4k i think.

Nvm, maths way off but if your 3080 can get the desired fps or close to it, then youre fine…

          • @Elderlymango: I mean you probably won't get 175fps+ in newer games maxed out but you'll still get decent frames and most newer games support DLSS and FSR if you must have more frames. 1440p ultrawide is a lot less pixels than 4k and only around 27% more than standard 1440p so outside of Flight simulator I doubt you'd have any issues. There are plenty of videos on youtube comparing FPS of GPU's at various resolutions so look up the games you play the most and see how the 3080 would do at 3440x1440.

            2560x1440 = 3.87m pixels
            3440x1440 = 4.95m pixels - AW3423DW Resolution
            3860x2160 = 8.29m pixels

  • +1

Dunno if its just me .. but at the time of writing this the heading has the G3223Q @ $863.12 .. but in the details its $846.12

Either way … I was going to pull the trigger on a QHD … but it seems 4K is coming down in price .. so might just wait and see "new GPU / 4K monitor pricing" towards the end of the year.

    • It's $846.12. Number look the same after looking at it for a while.

      • +1

Hmmm … $216.48 also looks the same … or I can settle for $84.61 which is definitely the same … this is Ozbargain after all … hahaha

  • Fingers crossed for a good deal on the AW3821DW that doesn't involve BNPL. :-)

    • Won't happen unfortunately.

    • The 20% off applies to the AW3821DW too bringing it down to $1,499.00 with no BNPL. Historically it looks like $1299 is the best price so far and there were a lot of comments that it won't be going that low again anytime soon with most recent deals being $1399-$1499 so make of it what you will.

  • Looking for a deal on 1440p gaming monitor for a while.
Dell S2721DGF is one of the preferences. I don't use any BNPL. So, I had to miss it during the Afterpay sale.
Any idea when it will be on sale again without any BNPL?

    Thanks dealbot.

    • +3

Dude. The deal literally says starts tomorrow.
      S2721DGF for $448

      • +2

Pardon my ignorance. I'm new to OZbargain.
I thought only the models in the title get discounted. I now understand that it is across Dell eBay store.
        Thanks for correcting me

        • No worries. Btw - these 20% off dell ebay deals come like clockwork at this time every month

        • the s2721dgf was $429 during afterpay (which is 15% off), but it's $449 ( 20% off) right now. you understand what i am saying, right?

  • wishing to see some AW desktop deals

Any idea if the G3223Q HDMI 2.1 is full bandwidth?
Would you guys recommend DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 for this (PC gaming, RTX 3080, FreeSync, HDR) … Cheers in advance

    • HDMI2.1 is limited to 120Hz, so I'd suggest DP 1.4

I sold my 32" gaming monitor (Gigabyte m32) and replaced it with a 28" (Viewsonic vx2882-4kp). I found the 32" too big given the depth of my desk. I use the HDMI 2.1 for Xbox Series X, and the DP for laptop and mac mini with 4K@150Hz.

      • I thought HDMI 2.1 was limited to 120Hz on PS4/XBOX, not PC? Via DP, can you run 144 Hz/4K and HDR without issues?

I've been on a 27" (ViewSonic VX2758-2KP-MHD) for quite sometime now and am quite keen on the 4K 32" experience

      • Know any >= 27" g-sync QHD HDMI 2.1 monitors besides the Eve Spectrum?

  • Dell eBay seems doesn't have flat 32" UHD cheaper not for gaming.

  • Laptops. What about laptops.

  • Will S3422DWG be included in this deal? Been looking for this one and missed in the last few deals when this was $549

    • It worked for me

    • Yes $499 after discount

      • @wzk dont you mean $549? the non gaming model is at $499

        • Yep, you’re right

  • Laptops please dealbot!

  • Look for a good deal on Dell S2721QS as it is far better than the new model as per rtings

    • How so?
QC seems got similar or higher points for almost all aspects.

    • I think you are getting it wrong

      Rtings:
The Dell S2722QC is an updated version of the Dell S2721QS with many of the same features, but there are a few differences. They're built the same and have similar picture quality with an IPS panel with wide viewing angles and a 4k resolution. However, the main differences are with the inputs; while the S2722QC has a USB-C input and two USB 3.0 inputs, the S2721QS has a DisplayPort input, which the S2722QC doesn't have. The S2722QC has a slightly quicker response time, but other than that, both monitors are similar.

    • They are similar, panel wise.

Features, it is USB-C/DisplayPort 1.4 vs DisplayPort 1.2. The need to include DisplayPort 1.4 is due to USB-C / USB 3 data support. If you need USB-C, then S2722QC makes sense. You do have to deal with the USB-C mess, if you have a Mac (more on that a bit later). The thing is that if you don't have USB-C, the cable which lets you use DisplayPort via that USB-C port is something you need to fork out. Also, rtings' VRR test on S2722QC shows only USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 works, not HDMI (but that's the same for S2721QS).

In reality, there is still a bit of a mess with Apple M1. Apple has elected to go 10-bit HDR 4K if you want 4K via USB-C / DP 1.4 (whereas with a dongle, maybe you could workaround that). Basically, if you want HDR 4K 10-bit, you need to put S2722QC is prioritise resolution mode, which means USB-A ports drops to USB 2.0. Otherwise, you are stuck with 4K/8-bit no HDR. Weirdly, with HDMI, Apple elected to let you go 4K/8-bit HDR. Did Apple do that intentionally to make their Thunderbolt 3 displays more attractive?

As for Dell, clearly, Dell cut cost by not including an extra DisplayPort on S2722QC. That makes it annoying if you have a PC gaming desktop (although if you actually do have one, I doubt S2722QC is ideal for gaming… though neither is S2722QC). But, if you somehow wants 4K and gaming with a tight budget… then you need to fork out some extra money to get a USB-C to DisplayPort cable that's capable of 4K/60Hz/HDR for PC (assuming you want the very limited VRR due to its relatively small range of refresh rates supported).

      • It is frustrating to see how many issues there seem to be with M1 and external displays. I am on an older pre-M1 mini so should be no issues but will upgrade later this year to M1 or whatever comes after. Some issues have been fixed in recent OS updates it seems.

Was planning to buy the S2722QC tomorrow but judging from your thoughts here it is not perfect. Although with HDMI cable it works fine? I don't really care about USB-A port speed on the monitor itself as I will not connect anything there - so does this mean USB-C works fine as well?

There are few good alternatives to the S2722QC if you want 4k. The Ultrafines are too expensive.

        • +1

Well, you need to know what device(s) you intend to use with S2722QC. Here is what I found so far with S2722QC, with USB-C:

          • 2016 or 2017 Intel Macbook Pro: avoid this monitor altogether
          • 2018, 2019, 2020 13 inch Intel Macbook Pro: okay, other than you have to use prioritise resolution and USB drops to USB 2.0
          • 2018, 2019, 2020 15 inch Intel Macbook Pro: unsure, likely to be fine as they have AMD GPU with DP 1.4 support
          • 2018 Intel NUC: okay, other than you have to use prioritise resolution and USB drops to USB 2.0
          • 2019 (9th gen CPU with an inferior GPU than 2018 NUC), 2020 Intel NUC (10th gen CPU): unclear (don't have access to one and too lazy to lookup the specs to speculate)
          • 2021 Intel NUC (11th gen CPU): good / DP 1.4 is supported, Windows gives you more control on colour depth and HDR (though Windows HDR support isn't as good as Mac OS).
          • 2021, 2022 Intel laptops with USB-C/alt-mode or Thunderbolt 3/4: Refer to 2021 Intel NUC.
          • Android phones with USB-C/alt-mode support: okay, other than you have to use prioritise resolution and USB drops to USB 2.0. Android phones only support USB-C/alt-mode DP 1.2.
          • M1: If you want USB 3, you lose HDR. If you want 4K/60Hz HDR, you have to use prioritise resolution and USB drops to USB 2.0
          • iPad Pro, iPad Air with USB-C: Sorry, I don't own one of those so I don't know.

This monitor does try to help you and prompt you to go prioritise resolution if it thinks your device only supports DP 1.2. However, it doesn't inform you to return to prioritise data mode if you later switched to a DP 1.4 device. However, if you don't care about USB-A port speed, then prioritise resolution is better.

USB-C is just a mess and it will be a bigger mess later on as USB-C/alt-mode DP 2.0 is on the horizon. When Intel will support it (and when Apple will do so) is a question mark.

HDMI port: That means you need to get an appropriate dongle (depending on whether your device does USB-C/DP 1.2 or DP 1.4, even the Apple dongle has 2 revisions (one for DP 1.2 and one for DP 1.4)). Other than that, generally there is less issue with HDMI. If you get the wrong dongle, then that's a different story. M1, you do get 4K/60Hz/8-bit + HDR.

P.S. Anyone with experience using S2722QC with iPad Pro, iPad Air, Macbook Pro (Intel) 15 or 16 inch post 2018 models, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra devices, please share your experience. Please test USB to see if you can get USB 3.0 and please also test HDR.

          • @netsurfer: Thank you, this is great!

Hopefully will work well with M1 when I get that.

Getting one for my wife's work laptop also:
HP Elitebook 830 G5. HDMI 1.4b which I understands means 4k 30Hz only. But it has Thunderbolt 3 which should do 4k 60hz. Some say it also depends on the graphics card which is intel UHD 620… I see mixed feedback on whether that does 4k 60hz. Hopefully!

            • @Oy: If HP done its job right, then Elitebook 830 G5 would have the DisplayPort part of UHD Graphics 620 wired to Thunderbolt 3 port (which supports USB-C/Alt-mode (DP 1.2)). The Thunderbolt 3 chipset used might be DP 1.4 capable BUT given UHD 620 can only achieve DP 1.2, that means DP 1.2 overall. Have to use prioritise resolution mode to have a chance to get 4K/60Hz with that laptop (USB drops to USB 2).

M1, the best hope is Apple opens up Display Preferences to give us more options. More importantly, clean up USB-C plug/un-plug auto reconnect glitch on Mac Mini M1. If you don't unplug it from the monitor often, then it is not an issue I guess. It is annoying USB 3 is lost if you want 4K/60Hz+10 bit 4:4:4+HDR with M1. Also, Dell not allowing Dell DisplayManager Mac app to work on S series monitor is a bit disappointing.

          • @netsurfer: That seems complicated and nothing is that easy is it.
Maybe the apple monitors are best for apple users, they've got you by the curly ones as they are $$$

          • @netsurfer: 2016 or 2017 Intel Macbook Pro: avoid this monitor altogether

Is S2722QC confirmed not to work with the above?

  • Word of warning… I ordered one of these desktops at the end of last month in their last deal (before it was posted on here). I knew that delivery was meant to be in april but wasn't too fussed. However a few days after I found out they only use 450w power supply and I decided to try and cancel. I message them and they said that it may be too late to cancel but they will try to stop the shipment… I messaged a few times chasing it and they kept saying they are waiting for their service team to stop shipment but will refund me soon.. 2 WEEKS later I got an email saying the pc had dispatched.

It however got delivered to sydney, I live in perth. So I assume they had it sent to one of their warehouses after it arrived from overseas…. it was delivered there over a week ago and they have not responded to any of my emails now and have not refunded me. I have a case opened with Ebay to get my money back… bit of a joke to be 2500 out of pocket for a month and for them to still not refund it even when they now have the PC. Especially from a company as big as dell.

    • If and when it arrives, you can return it within 30 days of receipt for full refund from Dell eBay.

      • You can do that but Dell technically will charge restocking fee for change of mind items, although they don’t normally do that. Or if you are saying returning the item with eBay terms at least you have to pay return shipping which is quite a lot for such bulky item.

      • It's already been delivered though… ebay has been marked as completed. Latest tracking was

        Delivered

        LEN WATERS ESTATE NSW

        Column, event date and time,
        Tue 15 Mar, 11.49am

I live in perth. So I assume it has been delivered to a dell warehouse. But they are ignoring my emails and have ignored the ebay claim.

I've now hit the time barrier where Ebay say they will step in so hopefully they look at it and just refund me, can't see why they wouldn't

        • That should make it easier to get refund then. Otherwise do a charge back on your credit card for undelivered goods.

Still waiting for my S2721DS monitors ordered from last deal on 23/2 to be dispatched.

    • Still waiting for my one as well
Dell issued me a tax invoice on 7/3/2022 also got a message from StarTrack on the same day said my item was expected to be delivery on 8/3/2022.
It has been already 2 weeks, the status is still "in transit".
I have contacted dell Ebay last week and havent heard anything back yet.

Dell 32 Curved 4K UHD S3221QS $479, if you are OK with curved.

    • 60 Hz tho

      • Not for gaming tho

        • Yeah thought you mention it as alternative for g3223q

    • Curved is better for 32" and bigger, particularly with the ultrawides imo.. the corners/edges are too far away otherwise..

      • Yes for ultrawide but may not needed for 32" I reckon

        • Maybe, depends how far away you sit.
I returned a flat viewsonic and got the S3220DGF, heaps better (and now got two, in q nice big curve).

A nice big dell 48 or something be alright as flat though if it's an ultrasharp

            @G-rig:

(and now got two, in q nice big curve).

AW3423DW QD OLED down to $1,839

  • Thanks OP

  • Bought a G3223Q, to replace my current 32" 60hz IPS screen. Will see how it goes - was keen on an OLED, but only in 32" size if one comes out and they manage to get the text quality as sharp as an IPS screen. At $846 I reckon this is a steal, compared to $1079 or so for the Gigabyte M32U. The Chinese guy's review on Youtube was enough for me to decide it's good enough for the price, even though there's no USB-C or fancy hub on it and it's still a 1000:1 contrast IPS.

    • Will you run DP 1.4 vs HDMI 2.1? For 4K 144hZ HDR freesync

      • I'll use DP 1.4 for my desktop as I like the way it clicks in, haha. HDMI from laptop for 4K 60Hz. I get the impression these have to use DSC on HDMI 2.1 as it's not proper HDMI 2.1?

    • It’s good monitor and atleast like you tick all the boxes I wanted, specifically for console gaming from my desk.

  • Ordered the S2722QC, what is the best way to connect two ThinkPad with USB-C to this monitor (day time office laptop, night time personal laptop)?

  • Thanks, picked up the S3422DWG at $549 to replace my currently dying AW3418HW

  • 4k on 32" will there be problem with fonts too small even scale up?

Windows didn't scale things that good.

    • +2

I use a 32" 4K at work every day and find it works great at the recommended 150% scaling.

  • When does this deal end?

  • Expensive week on OzBargain with the Makita stuff and now a 12900k/3080 machine.

    Thanks DealBot

    • Ha it's meant to save you money but there is always something you can find to buy.. alright if you were actually going to buy it anyway haha

    • Have been contemplating the XPS. Do you still see it as decent value? Some comments in this thread suggest not, but when I put through a close enough build on pc part picker (to my best guess of equivalent parts) it still comes up around $3300 which I know back in Jan was much more.

The only thing is perhaps the 12900k is overkill for me and could sacrifice that for a 12700F better mobo, cooling and/or ram.

      • +1

Yes the 12900k is a bit overkill for me too, i don't game it's more things like running a bunch of virtual machines at once, and development type work. But i tend to hang on to a machine for several years. So i get something with a solid CPU and graphics card.

The 12700F only has a 3070 card and 460w PSU which a few people say is a bit small, the 12900k has 750w and the 3080 card. In the last deal @DreaminBargains mentioned the 12900 has the premium air cooler and the temps were good.

I was flipping back and forwards between the 2 systems as well, but figured for me the 12900 was worth it. I got them to upgrade to Win 11 Pro and additional warranty.

        • Fair enough. I guess it all down to use case as always. I'm not really a gamer too and perhaps closer to your use case. Some good configs from TF posted today as well so need to way it all up. Thanks for your help!

  • Is $1399 a good price for this one?

So if you are having trouble, then try those things

    • Thanks heaps. Massively helped me. Picked up the Alienware 34" AW3423DW

  • Guys, I am interested in buying either Dell 32 Curved 4K UHD S3221QS or Dell 32 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3222DGM. I am not a gamer and I mostly work on document (Word) editing and watch many videos (like YouTube/NetFlix etc). It's also for my office use. I seek your advice with regards to which one to buy.? :)

    • editing and watch many videos (like YouTube/NetFlix etc).

      Better with 4k I reckon

      Curved 4K UHD

If you don't mind curved for editing? Did you mean editing photo?

      • 4k if you don't need the refresh rates
I don't mind 1440p ('2k') on 32" but wouldn't mind a bit smaller for size of dialogue boxes and windows etc, can still run out of space. Good not having the text tiny though, and don't need to sit too close

        • Good not having the text tiny though, and don't need to sit too close

I am wondering the same, can scale up fix most of the issue? I know some Windows won't scale correctly.

Just ordered the G3223Q. Perfect timing as I was tempted by the M32U from Umart for $1050. $200 cheaper for a Dell is awesome!

    • NSW here, I believe Dell ships out of their Chullora depot and mine isn't even marked as dispatched yet (ordered on 23/03 like you).

      • Received today 😂

Quite happy with the purchase 😊

  • Anyone having trouble paying with ebay giftcards?

  • Bruh got mine delivered today!

    • Which one? G3223Q?
How is it! I'm anxiously waiting for mine.

      • Ya I got the G3223Q. Haven’t open it, still at work. Very keen to test it out tonight.
