This is cheaper if you have a commbank card to pay with. No lock-in contract either.

NBN yes that’s the cheapest but OptiComm found uniti as the cheapest so far.

      • How long have you been with them? I was with Internode which was good…until it wasn’t lol. Now I’ve been with Exetel for the past ~4yrs. Hasn’t been too bad actually but this looks like a grand ol’ price for the often overpriced Opticomm network.

        • Just signed up. Will see how we go. Was with launtel but wanted something slightly cheaper since the 1000/40 was only hitting 270MBPS at my place.

Been with uniti for a year and they are really good. SMS me when downtime occurs and when it comes back. Their website is great.

Never had to call customer service

  • would advise against going with Uniti even though they own the Opticomm network now. I've had constant dropouts for a couple of months when playing online games that they were unable to diagnose. I got Launtel to activate their service on port 2 of my ONT and haven't had any issues since.

Also they charge an extra month when cancelling and then tried to charge me another. I had to call their call center to request a cancellation and again to get the second extra month refunded. Waited about 30 minutes each time.

Speeds were good, latency wasn't good but not terrible, they use CGNAT by default but think you can get a static ip if you want for an extra fee.

    • Mine was the opposite lol. I called them to cancel, and they gave me a free month!

    • This story is almost the exact same as me. Constant dropouts for ages whilst gaming, they could not figure it out. They blamed my router (I even bought a new one). I switched over to Launtel and the issue… disappeared!

And they wanted me to stay for another month despite my contract already being OVER (despite months of the service not working) so I lodged a complaint with the TIO and they released me the same day.

  • I got leaptel, and then uniti afterwards. Of you're getting this as a new install, then all good. If it replaces an existing one, make sure they use port 2 (or port 1 depending which port is taken by the former).

Mine was still on the same port and was just so slow it went from 250mpbs to 30mbps is matter of minutes. Needed to keep refreshing the router.

Got them to change ports and now works great.

  • Tempting, but currently with ABB 100/25 and having great experience usually getting >100 and minimal issues compared to previous providers.

I was with Harbour who are Uniti and they are HORRIBLE. Worse than Telstra/Optus/iPrimus. Do not recommended.

Shit speeds, poor customer service and they wouldn't even let me cancel after my contract expired. I had to get the TIO involved before their team called me (same day as I lodged the TIO complaint) for them to let me go.

BEWARE GUYS! Uniti Wireless is the owner of Harbour ISP which is the worst OptiComm service provider.

    • Isn't run by the same bunch who used to run M2?

    • Uniti Group also own OptiComm…

      • WTF…. Sadly, there is no NBN connection available near me

  • I'm with Fuzenet which is also under Uniti corp. I didn't have much issue for the first year until recently upgraded my plan from 100 to 250. The download speed was still 100 and they took my public IP away so I couldn't access to my NAS from outside. It took me 2 weeks endless calls and complaint to TIO before they finally fixed it for me. Hope I won't get any more issues as long as I don't change my plan

Still building atm, but will need something in a couple months. Didn't know about Uniti Group until now. Just did a search of their subsidiaries…

    OptiComm
    LBN Co Pty Ltd
    Call Dynamics Pty Ltd
    1300 Australia Pty Ltd
    Fone Dynamics Pty Ltd
    OPENetworks Pty Ltd
    Harbour ISP Pty Ltd
    FuzeNet Pty Ltd

    …dominating much 🤔

Is the consensus to stay away from them (even though they own OptiComm) 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • Thanks for sharing. Cannot stay away from them…

  • Looks okay

Currently with Exetel in VIC for OptiComm and pay $89.99 for 100/40. But month to month.

    • +1

Exetel on OptiComm is surprisingly okay. The problem is when the network goes down and other ISPs are posting notices about unplanned outages; Exetel is still telling you to try different cables and troubleshoot.

  • Also, check the following response from them. Seems the discounts are ongoing. (Guess they can change their T&c's whenever)

    Hi <firstWizard>,

    Thank you for your email.

If you sign up on a 12 month contract, you get the below deal - [refers to $30 off and no setup fee - on 250plan]
Even after 12 months contract, you will still receive the $30 discount on your account as long as you are a customer of UnitiWireless.

    • They usually don't. I'm on a $20 off discount that expired 6 months ago, it still applies. As long as you don't accidentally replace your code with one of those 6 month discount codes you're generally good. It's usually better to stay on one of these codes rather than the one month free. And if you're an existing customer, give them a call, they applied this speedup discount on my account on the provision that I extend my service duration by another 12 months.

I'm in an opticomm area with uniti, ping is 0-1ms during peak. On a 250mbps plan, off peak speeds are 290mbps and peak speeds are 260mbps. From the chat I've had with some of my neighbours, they didn't realise they had to sign up for opticomm plans in this neighbourhood so they've been using mobile dongles. I guess I can expect my speed to decrease once more people catch on.

      • Gotcha. I have fibre to the premise and am on a new development building area.
Seems like most neighbours I speak to don't wanna pay the $300 new development fee, so they rely on those unlimited 4G-5G fixed-wireless plans.

With Leaptel I get about 110/21 during peak on the 100/20 plan. I hope it stays that way.

        • Fibre to the premises is great so long as the network termination box they install supports up to 10gbit. Sure we may not need that speed now, but 20 years ago dialup was sufficient for a lot of people, may as well get it done right the first time.
