  • Thanks, ordered one

  • I got on in the Dec 21 deal was about 15% cheaper.

I have not used it yet, but looked good.

    • does the bottom have cushion, or anything absorb the shock?

  • Ordered one, thanks. Assume good to use in raining condition

  • How does this compare with the GM1720PM?

    • I have the GM1720PM, I think this one dosent have that pocket on the top.
Front external pocket also opens at the top on this rather than the side.
Also no headphone holder in the bag.

Picture makes it look smaller volume, but check the listed volumes.

Tbh I may consider this over the GM1720PM as if you have any heavier stuff in the pocket on the top of the bag it can get annoying to open the main compartment. I could just not put stuff in there but where's the fun in that.

      • does the bottom have cushion, or anything absorb the shock?

  • OP, can you tag this with backpack or laptop backpack.

    • Sorry, nope - dont know how!

      Perhaps a Mod can assist?

  • Heres hoping i get this one by next week instead of over 1 month later. Which is the eta for my 15" dell laptop bag.

  • Need a new backpack. At less than $20 this is worth a go.

I've owned this backpack since Jan 21 and I use it about once a week. I bought it in a previous deal, here's my thoughts.
The Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 laptop pocket is no bigger than my similar sized 15" Dell backpack, both backpacks laptop pockets are exactly 310mm wide.
The laptop pocket can fit my 15" Dell XPS while it's in a laptop sleeve and laptop bag quite snugly,
so my guess is that it would just barely fit a 17" laptop with a sleeve.
The material is shiny and a bit stiff, making it more difficult to get into the smaller pockets. There's an adequate amount of padding to protect your laptop,
particularly on the back and the bottom. The Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 stands out with it's bright red trim and Dell logo,
making it in my opinion more likely to get stolen, thieves are going to think there's got to be something good in there.
I use it regularly to carry groceries on my bike, cartons of milk, fruit etc, often there will be 6KG+ in there and it feels comfortable to wear,
the extra padding on the back stops pointy objects poking me in the back, the shoulder straps are wide soft and comfortable.
I like this laptop bag, it has good access and the zip to the main compartment allows you to open the bag up wide to provide good access.
The outer material feels like a Gore-Tex raincoat making it feel like it's rain proof, though I have no idea if it is. The zips feel premium or at least good quality
along with the rest of the backpack, at $18.60 inc delivery, it's an OzB no brainer. It would make an ideal Kris Kringle present, or just re-gift it if you don't like it!

    • Thanks for the review, I was torn between this and the 15" one but because I want to also haul my groceries home on my scooter or pushbike i decided more room is better, and your review cliched this one. I only have a Surface Pro anyway (13")

    • I purchased this backpack about 6 months ago and was surprised at the quality and feel. I heard differing reviews on quality but I have to say the quality FAR EXCEEDS the discounted price <$20). It's nice enough to be worn as an office backpack and sturdy enough as a commuter.

It's simple, which I what I wanted. One main compartment with a nearly useless front one. I don't use mine for actually carrying a laptop but I feel like it'd be safe if I did bring one.

      • Thanks for the review, would it fit a lunch box or work lunch with the laptop inside?

        • +1

I think so, depends on how big your lunchbox is. Longer rectangular boxes would fit better and not a squarish or tall one I think.

    • Thanks for the review - I have ordered one

  • Bought one. Thanks OP…

  • Thanks, ordered one.

  • Just got the bag and i must say. Impressed by the quality. Would i buy it at full price? Thats a no. But for < $20 would highly recommend.

    • Agreed. Mine arrived yesterday. Good for next to nothing. :)
