  • How's this compare to superloop?

    • +1

      support is probably on par…

performance is probably very similar too.

Superloop might end up being cheaper for the first 6 months.

      • -1

Superloop might end up being cheaper for the first 6 months.

Show me your maths on this.

        • +3

          Tangerine 92Mbps is $74.90
          Superloop 93Mbps is $69.95

          Looks cheaper to me…

        • -1

Show me your maths on this.

          Tangerine is 5c/month cheaper.

Superloop has a better sign up bonus, if you don't mind giving your details to econnex.

          • @salmon123:

            Tangerine is 5c/month cheaper.

            Not for 100/20 plan

(if your NBN speed doesn't improve after switching to Tangerine, you get a full refund).

It is not a free trial, you have to pay for the 14 days.

    • +2

Tangerine doesn't understand what a trial is.

      • It's a "risk free" trial, not a "free" trial. That means you can try them out, without the risk of being stuck with them. Others call it a happiness, or satisfaction guarantee.

    • +3

Spot on. If you continue the service beyond the 14-day period, you have to pay for those days.

I was with Tangerine for 6 months on FTTP, it dropped out only one and I think it was a massive outage. I got through to their support and they just kept asking me to restart my modem.

They fixed it pretty quick but it was hard to get through to them what the problem was.

    • +1

Otherwise I was getting a decent 230-260 down speed, sometime along time slightly higher but most times good.

  • +1

    Do they use CG-NAT?

Only realised MyRepublic do after signing up with them…once my 6 months $10-off deal is over, I'll be switching to Mate (which will probably have moved to CG-NAT themselves by then…)

    • +1

Isn't it already cheaper with Mate with the 30% off for 12 months deal?

By the way, Mate a quite a bit faster than Superloop in the last few weeks I've been with them.

      • Sorry do you have a link for the 30% off deal ?

    • When I was with Tangerine last year it was no CG-NAT, sticky IPv4 and no IPv6.

  • if your NBN speed doesn't improve after switching to Tangerine, you get a full refund).

    so if I switch from 100/40 -> 25/5 and my speed don't impeller, I get a refund?

  • They use PPPoE which is a pain with some modems. So be aware of that.

    • +2

Why is logging in a problem?

You only need to do it once.

      • Way easier with superloop or abb with the automatic dhcp

        • I remember churing from Superloop to Belong.
Probably the smoothest process ever. If it wasn't for their text message I would have been oblivious.

Be careful, they count 6 calendar months, not the Bill months.if you started from today, March is still counted as the first month.

    • Really…..thanks for sharing as I have a calendar reminder for 6 months from day joined on 11 Mar. I need to change that so. In my case lose 11days.

    • Oh damn, I signed up on the 28th Dec, guess I'll just port out a month earlier then, thanks for sharing

    • Be careful, they count 6 calendar months, not the Bill months.if you started from today, March is still counted as the first month.

I connected 29/09/21 and have gotten 6x $15 discounts (29/09/21-27/10/21, 28/10/21-27/11/21, 28/11/21-27/12/21, 28/12/21-27/01/22, 28/01/22-27/02/22, 28/02/22-27/03/22)? First bill charges for 2 months though, current and next, so you get 2x discounts on the first bill).

Accidentally missed churning this month though :/

    • I signed up on the 26th November 2021, but requested the churn / transfer date to be the 1st December 2021. I was connected to their service on 1st December 2021 after navigating through a whole bunch of stuff ups on their side.

So, do I need to transfer out at the end of this month or at the end of May?

Reading CVonC's answer, I am guessing I should be okay until the end of May.

  • How long do former customers have to be away from tangerine to be able to sign back on? Is there a minimum number of months?

    • If say you only used 2 months of the 6 month offer and went elsewhere and then came back say 3 months later. You would then get 4 months at special rate. Not sure how long you need to be away to reset the 6 month deal though.

      • Thanks for the reply. I used the full 6 months last time. Hope to try the Tangerine promo again (I haven't had any problems with them) after my 6 months with superloop, if they allow it.

    • +1

Forever, offer is once per address. Even if you try with another person name with same address, you’ll be billed for full amount. Unless, you prove them that you have moved recently (in case of rental property).

      • I see. I will definitely give it a try again (no harm right?) but fair enough if they respond as you say they will. Thanks for the reply.

WARNING: TangeUrine screwed up my transfer from exetel to them. I was without internet for a month in schools lockdowns. I lost my home phone number too during this time delay. They say exetel stuffed up, exetel emailed me proof that they had done their job right. Not matter who I spoke to in their call centre they just could not get anything right. In the end I called LaunTel and I explained my situation. The owner of the company personally checked my address and told me exetel had released it as they said. 6 minutes later I was fully connected and functional with LaunTel and I was emailing TangeUrine customer support to shove their service up their "Equus asinus". I guess it was in their name TangeUrine gives pretty pissy service.

    • +1

I don't doubt your story at all as I wasted almost an entire work day in moving from Exetel to Tangerine.
They assured me they would port me over via remote activation on the requested transfer day. They didn't even raise the necessary work order with NBN Co until after my 5th call on the day of my transfer. There is absolutely zero accountability within their transfer team.

  • I'm on this now, speed is quite unstable, sometimes I get good 46mbps (on a 50 plan), sometimes it just drops to 2, now I'm 16mbps. I called support and they judt walked me through resetting all my stuff and told me to reset my router in the end -.-, probably won't stick with them after the 6 months

  • +1

I'm on the 50/20 plan with FTTC. Consistent and no issues for me, ever. I'm seeing a lot of horror stories in comments but no company is perfect.
Mandatory disclosure: I have a referral code in the referral system but otherwise no affiliation with Tangerine.

  • -1

I’m with tangerine. I do wfh video conferencing all day and it’s perfect.

  • is it easy churning from one provider to another? is there any change to the modem i need to do? (ie, can i be dumb enough to stuff it up?)

    • It depends. Tangerine use PPoE as connection type which requires Username and Password (which they give you upon setup). Many other carries just use Ethernet as connection type which does not require that so churning is more transparent i.e. no changes required on modem. Not a big deal though and a simple task by adjusting connection type on modem once Tangerine tell you that it is ready.

  • If I churn now, do I select the switch date of my quota reset or when the monthly invoice is issued? (With superloop)

  • I thought if you change ISP and when your new service activated they'll get notified and then stop counting and billing.

Apparently no, or they choose to stay not notified until new billing cycle starts.

    • That is correct for many and is usually noted in T&C's. You need to let them know as their accounting systems are not linked by default to knowing whether you transferred out. In turn, you are at risk of it Auto-billing at the end of each period.

  • Tangerine are currently offering higher discount to 100/20 - $62.90 - 200/25 - $79.90 500/50 - $99.90 services
