Too small for a tv, too big for a pc

    • Yeah it's tempting but I think you're right. I had a 55" for a while as a monitor which was ridiculous and I wouldn't go back to the size, and even 48" might be too big.

    • +5

Is this a TV for ants?

      • +5

No it's a monitor for giants

    • +1

I'm using a C1 for a monitor and I disagree. Great size if you have the room.

      • +2

The 42" C2 would be more appealing size or the 42" Sony A90K

        • I’ve been using LGs’ 43UD79 and 43” really is a sweet spot for productivity.. though I’m still worried the 48” will be a tad too big I bought one today because ‘LG OLED panel for $1k’. Unreal.

LG’s 42” C2 is going to be double this for at least the next year is say.

          • +1

@Vorsprungdurchtech: Both the C2 and A90K are top of the range Oled's complete with exceptional processing and motion for a wider range of content…
I would be happy to pay more than just a cheaper version of a C1 that's too big in my opinion like the Gigabyte

    • Perfect for gaming consoles..🙃 xbx and ps5

    • +1

It’s the perfect size for a bedroom.

  • Is this the OLED one?

    • Yup

I wished the volume and on/off switch on the Amazon Fire Stick worked with this monitor.

  • how many they have? Gone

  • OOS

  • Damn, crazy price but OOS.

  • $1039 free C&C at JW

    4-8 days waiting time

  • I guess I can connect a chromecast to this monitor ?

    • You can connect chromecast to anything with HDMI.

  • Can anyone please comment if it would be good for a normal size desk around 120×60cm?
Wall Mount is not an option for my room.
Would it be ok for daily work(8-10 hours) or cause eye strain due to the big size/short viewing distance?

    • The width of the monitor is almost 1.1m.

Consider getting a monitor arm. Like Ergotron one

      • The width is ok and my concern is depth and viewing distance. Checked the Ergotron one but looks like only extending the view distance by around 10cm. Would it be enough for the viewing distance?

        • +1

Probably not. I've got a 90cm deep desk and it's probably about as close as I'd wanna be for KB + mouse. If you're leaning back with a controller it might be tolerable.

        • +1

Definitely not. I have the 43 inch mounted with a monitor arm on a desk that is 90cm deep and it feels just right. For a 48 inch, I would be looking for at least a 100cm deep desk for comfortable viewing

  • This is back in stock, I just ordered one!

    • Cancelled my order with Scorptec, and ordered here! Almost as good as Scorptec eBay deal!

      • If it's almost as the other deal then why cancelled the other one since it's a better deal?

        • Cuz I missed the eBay deal and paid $1099 at their actual site.

  • Would be pretty cool as a triple monitor setup in a Sim rig I reckon. Similar to Boosted media just a bit smaller and fraction of the price.

  • I just finished installing this one today. Its a little…..too big? But its amazeballs at cinema watching or PS5.

LG C1 OLED for 1k. Incredible price, the 42 and 48" C2 is gonna be double.

    • Did you buy from this seller? What courier did they ship with?

      • Nah, got it from scorptec and picked it up. Didn't want to courier it, not home most times and didn't want courier to damage it.

    • Also add that this is perfect for me. Don't want the TV tuner, nor the Android functions. It's meant to be a monitor after all.

      • Did you use a monitor arm or just having it on the stand it comes with?

        • Just the stand which admittedly is a bit high. It works well though. I'll probably look into an arm next.

          • @NotAnAudiophile: Yea I have been looking for a monitor arm, I found the North Bayou NB45 can hold it but the main issue is finding a Vesa converter from 100x100 to 300x300 to fit the monitor

            • @Thunder-Wombat: Not sure of the usefulness of the arm though. Usually an arm makes the monitor higher and/or closer to you which I definitely don't need for this "monitor" lol

            • @Thunder-Wombat: $99 delivered here. https://www.azau.com.au/p/north-bayou-nb45-big-screen-full-m… . I am looking for a Vesa adapter as well.

              • @Malapinar: Yea that's the one I'm going to grab. Just wanna find the vesa adapter didn't realise it would be so hard to find

                • @Thunder-Wombat: let us know if you find one!

                  • @Malapinar: https://www.amazon.com.au/VIVO-Brackets-Conversion-400x400mm-MOUNT-AD400B/dp/B07MG8DCTL/?encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=G3y7g&pf_rd_p=05781b53-a5ff-496d-9c19-9e4661254d6d&pf_rd_r=KPHBZMWT28PM0T4R5385&pd_rd_r=b913cac2-8132-46cc-adff-2d904019b881&pd_rd_wg=Evzw7&ref=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_atf_m

looking likely I will go with this but was hoping for more of a plate than little arms

  • Ordered yesterday, and got it now in Melbourne

    • +1

same here! ordered yesterday lunchtime, delivered this morning!

      • I saw a Synnex truck dropping it off at my place. I believe this deal is pretty much retailers drop-shipping via Synnex hence multiple retailers having similar deals at once.

        • It looks like they are trying to get rid of the whole stock, hopefully no major issues with it!

          • @Malapinar: Looks like there is a newer model coming out soon

            • @Thunder-Wombat: Having said that, the monitor is amazing. I know some reviewers compare this with C1 and criticised it, but as an average consumer, I really don't see anything wrong with this monitor. Auto-dimming, for example, doesn't bother me at all.

              Few things I noticed.

              1) This monitor is indeed very big, especially the height. I come from having 2 x 32" 16:9 monitor.
              2) Definitely need a bit of depth on your desk to have a great viewing, especially for work.
              3) Colour is simply amazing.

              • +1

@aveeno bb: Yea I have found it amazing so far. Moved from my 2 x 34" Xiaomi to it.

My biggest hinderance is the depth of my desk to give me the depth to have the viewing angle. I have been using it for work and its been really good. The auto dimming for me has been quite good, specially since I work in excel it makes it perfect on the eyes

  • +1

Synnex still have some 230 or so left in stock and need to clear them by end of this month. Don't buy and hold your horses. $999 on ebay before any coupons is still possible, 900 shipped home I will bite :D

    • Yeah I think there is a room to go down in price more.

This place has lower shipping cost to Melbourne.

      https://www.compucoast.com.au/product/gigabyte-aorus-fo48u-4…

    • Hope it drops below $1000. How do you know how many stock they still have?

      • it says on the listing 200+

        • +1

well thats weird its out of stock now

    • Any stock updates? Lots of shops going out of stock or raising prices, perhaps it’s selling quicker than expected?

  • Had a look at the news on C2:

    1) Price likely to be much higher than this - 48" C1 originally launched at more than $2k.

    2) LG admitted their first shipments of C2 for the smaller sizes is likely not their best panels:

    https://www.notebookcheck.net/LG-confirms-that-some-C2-Smart…

    3) Reviewers note that the big difference in C2 and C1 is in brightness.

    • My guess is $3k rrp. Compared to that this looks like a steal

      • The first 42" C2 units have been shipped to users in USA, they came with the older panels.

This unit has searing brightness already, I'm using it on max 40-45% brightness even in the middle of the day.

        • That’s good to hear, I usually turn my monitors down to 10-20% brightness so this sounds perfect.

  • So tempted but think i'm going to weight for a further drop in price. Dont exactly need it with a 55" c1 next to my pc but an oled as a monitor sure would be alright, Hopefully sub $1000 and i may bite

  • Hi guys,

am I blind - can anyone tell if it has VESA mount and if so, what is the size?

    TY

    • +1

      it does, 300 x 300 mm

  • If anyone is still looking for these they seem to be on backorder due to the initial batch selling out, and might not come in for a few weeks. The price will probably stay the same though.

  • anyone know what to do with mine?
have 1 in melb unopened and trying to work out if i can send to Gold coast or refund and repurchase

    • What’s wrong with it?

      • havent opened it yet but i am in gold coast so quite difficult to move it there

        • Hmm well there seems to be one available on eBay for $1080 with eBay plus I think, so you could return your one and buy that one. Other than that one I don't think anyone is selling it for under $1100, I'm going to assume that all the cheap ones have been snapped up considering LG C2 prices are high and differences minimal, so everyone wants this as a cheap option.
