I could easily steal this backpack and I'm only a level 3 thief.

This is better than the original deal.. as it's free shipping…

Yes yes I know, with Prime, but like who doesn't have Prime and all its beauty glory ;)

Thief proof? What stops you from picking up the backpack and walking off with it?

  • This is an unlawful and poor quality clone of https://www.xd-design.com/au-au/bobby-hero-small-anti-theft-….

The manufacturer and vendor should be ashamed of themselves for selling pirated material; and likely involved in other criminal activities.

I recall Aldi pulled these from their ”Special Buys” when they realised, which is most likely why they ended up on Kogan.

That one looks like they’ve copied a decent cheap product and are gouging for $100 a pop

      Do they have a patent?

      • -7

Am sure their lawyers will confirm the patent and intellectual property that they have.

Soo…you don't know then? Could it be you just prefer overpriced items?

    • -3

Of course I’ll be downvoted for stating the bad news to the people involved that this is a poor quality illegal ripoff.

      • What makes you think it’s worse quality?

        • -1

I’ve seen them in the wild by people who have purchased them. Smaller, cheaper and more flimsy materials. Definitely not anti-theft.

          • +1

@pingudownunder: The “anti-theft” is fairly common in a lot of bags, it’s just where the zipper is placed so it can’t be undone while you’re wearing it. I have this one and the anti theft works just as well as on more expensive bags I’ve used.

Would never pay the $100 those overpriced ripoffs in the link want for a bag like this so can’t comment on their quality but can’t complain about the one from Kogan, especially at this price, it’s taken a beating in the weather up here this summer, looking at the overpriced one they use the single laptop Velcro strap which I hate compared to the two corner elastic the Kogan one uses so I’m still very happy with mine over the rip-off priced one

@Japius: It’s also the slash/knife proof material used throughout the product (this one doesn’t appear to have that).

The Bobby one originally went on sale back in 2008, this is the clone. Of course a European-made and sold product is going to be more expensive than one made in Asia. It’s also bigger, holds a 15’ laptop comfortably. My problem with it was the straps would fray easily after a few years.

If you’re fine buying fake cheap knock-off poorer quality products that’s your call, but I don’t think it’s a bargain.

              • +1

@pingudownunder: Meh my Kogan moves the work 15” dell daily without issue, never had a knife/slash issue to test it so can’t say if it’s holding up to that or not. It’s a bargain because the product is a great price with great functionality and, subjectively, looks good. Again I can’t see anything that suggests this isn’t good quality, especially at its price, you seem to be more interested in justifying overpaying on a similar product by making claims about a cheaper one you don’t own, good luck with that, for everyone else I have been thrashing the heck outta this Kogan one for a year now and it’s been fantastic

this is a poor quality illegal ripoff.

I have some Xiaomi shoes and they're better quality than Nike and Adidas.

  • I have the grey one, works well, is a bit smaller than I’d like but it’s comfortable and good for the commute with the work laptop and a few other items

  • Thanks OP. Looks better buy than other post

  • I mean, for $10 it'd be great, but not with $11 delivery.. 😅

Honestly even if this bag wasn't 'thief proof' or whatever else it claims to be, you really cant go wrong for $10. I bought one of these supposed rip-offs almost 7 years ago for uni, and ironically the whole bag was recently stolen. It held up to work/uni/public transport for more than 7 years with only minial fraying of some of the stitching. Also loved the convenience of the USB port even tho its slow AF at 5w. I'll be grabbing two of these at this price!

    • I don't get the usb port. Do you connect it to a power bank inside? Seems pointless and cumbersome.
You'd have a cable from your back pack charging your device super slow, why not just go direct to a power bank.

Genuinely don't understand why this would be useful

      • Yep its a USB port connected to your power bank. It's mainly useful for when you dont want to have your bag half open with a cable sticking out, say when you're walking around, on public transport etc. It simply cleans things up and gives you a way to keep everything in the bag except your cable. Yes it's not particularly quick in this day of fast charging everything, but you gotta remeber the iPhone still had 5w charging only a few years back.

Is the RRP legit? Over $100 for an XD lookalike backpack.

  • Do yourself a favour and don’t get this, mines waiting in the boot to be thrown into the donation bin.

If someone wants it and is happy to collect they can have it. (Located Melbourne)
