    Noooo Edu expired :(

  • great price - and it's a step up from the X80J

    • +2

Correct. I was gonna get this one; but the 90j was too good to pass up

      • Can you explain how to get the edu price?

        • Need someone in school / uni

          • @Danstar: Does the account need to be created with the edu email? the link is showing $2695, and not pointing to an edu store?

  • i logged in with edu.au account but its showing full price??

    • Did you activate after signing up?

      • +3

i tried a few times to verify , but i am not getting any emails to verify.

        • +2

same here .. try different edu email

        • Took a while for me. About an hour or so.

        • Yeah annoyingly takes a while to come through and is only valid for 30 minutes

        • Mine is telling me my account is already signed up, but if I try do a password reset I don't get the email.

I'm assuming the emails are being blocked somewhere further up the chain as spam :(

  • how much is it for the 85"

  • +2

Nothing I do will send the activation email.

  • Is this full array like X90J and is full array
worth the extra few hundred on 75 inch model.

  • +2

    Bring back Sony X

    Rip

  • 55 price?

Since when does a remote control get listed as a Bonus with a TV?

I don't care how many smart app control whatevers it has - I don't want to have to use my phone, if my TV came without a remote I'd return it as not fit for purpose.
Stashing my phone away is the only way to get off screen time and be less distracted by emails and messages coming in

    • Ok

    • +1

I assumed it came with a basic remote, and the "bonus" remote was a fancier one

    • You still get a remote with the TV, this is an ADDITIONAL remote.

      • -5

Well in that case, it becomes - why!?
In a world of chip shortages and plastic excess Sony wants to give out an additional remote because - they have too many of them? they break all the time? Or its better?
If its better, why not include it to start with, the cost difference is probably cents on a usually $1500+ TV

        • +7

          How outrageous

    • The tv comes with a remote.
This is a second remote, that has Voice Remote Control

      • -1

my entry level samsung came with voice - looks like it costs $2 to make too.
Stupid decision not to include as standard instead of redundant bonus, Sony

  • My daughters school email is .education.nsw.gov.au so it wont work.
Or is there a work around?

    • She can use her .det.nsw.edu.au email too I think,
      Try logging into outlook.

  • tryna to understand what a school kid needs a 75 inch tv for thats its exclusive for them

    • 4K homework monitor, or maybe a graphic design, marketing / media, or gaming student?

      • +2

        Best dad ever

    • +1

      They don't. They need a 85 inch :D

    • Also available to teachers and faculty I presume.

  • +10

Are we going to have a separate post for every single Sony 2021 TV model/size on the education store? All of it should have been grouped into the initial post earlier today.

    • +1

Separate posts are good for visibility and OzBargain always leads the way. Sony have started something that could spectacularly backfire over the next week or so. Retailers are going to put Sony on blast over the timing and implementation of this pricing. Then there are the large numbers of recent complaints about dodgy deliveries, broken panels and generally poor feedback that you wouldn't expect for Sony

  • What's the 43" price?

    • same after that b4 i sign up with an edu email

  • +1

Great price. I used Amex 500-75 offer with a 2% ShopBack cashback. Ended up at about $1571.
    Thanks

  • Is x85 local dimming?

    • +1

      no, only x90j or x95j

  • How does one get a edu account

    • +11

Sigh. Maybe you need to go back to school to learn a few things.

  • Press request to verify, sends an email, click the link, and just sends me to the request to verify page, repeat…

Is it just me or is Sony auth terrible for just about everything, same goes for Microsoft.

    • Did you end up having success? I seem to be having the same problem.

    • You using Safari browser by any chance ? I found that didn't work for me, used Chrome and it worked.

  • Im nervous now Sony will knock back all these orders. Feels like they accidentally applied a staff discount to the edu store… 40% off retail seems Unheard of?

  • +1

Tried 2 different EDU emails. Still not getting the verification email. Any suggestions?

    • Yes, me too.
      One uni,one Tafe.

  • That is super sweet pricing. I wish they had made an 85" version.

  • At the 65" size, it's well worth the extra $120 to bump up to the x90J

    • +1

Strangely enough, X85 has wide colour gamut whereas X90 doesn't. Also the the term full array LED is kind of misleading because the local dimming areas are pretty large. Just have a look at rtings review with video showing local dimming for both X85 and X90 before making a decision. For wide colour gamut along I'd choose X85. Being VA panels, both have excellent contrast but very poor viewing angles.

      • +1

My man (probably man lol.. can't guess) knows what he's on about.. local dimming in nothing below flagship LEDs is worth paying money for.. anything between flagship and no local dimming is a blob of white.

it then makes the conversation between 90J having better brightness for HDR and better image processing when displaying 10bit colour
vs the better non-local dimming contrast ratio and black uniformity (display unit difference in mind) and having a wider colour gamut (by like 1%.. that's all that was needed from the 90J to score.. 1%more! lol in the rec.2020 gamut, according to rting's testing ofc)

Has anyone else verified their account and still only see full pricing?

  • +1

I bought the KD65X85J off Sony's ebay store and honestly really disappointed with the Android TV experience. The volume controls are really laggy to the point you can't hold down the button and need to press it every 0.5 seconds to actually move the volume.

The android TV home screen also lags. And the Sony X85J has one of the fastest CPU's on the market….

  • I am still not receiving the verification email and it is being looked into. What sort of discount are you seeing on cameras if someone can please check it out? Like say Sony A7IV.

    • See if your uni has spam protection. Mine were getting delayed/held by the system.

      • Yes they are looking into it.

  • any one made any progress with the orders. Mine is still processing since yesterday :(

  • +1

Anyone able to screenshot the 65" price? Might try my CC price protection.

  • How would one get an EDU price if they don't study anymore? haha

  • is the 85inche still available?

    • No more student pricing on TVs. sony have said this apparently

      • How will students afford their 7k TVs though?
