Still not worth it. Should be free forever.

Is this some kind of joke that I don't get?

      • +31

It’s a fresh, revolutionary take on eliminating the homeless problem by quickly clogging their arteries with cheeseburger grease

    • +2

I'd buy these every week if they were $0.50. Definitely worth it

      • -1

Anything being sold at a loss is definitely worth it.

        • Most things, but a 5c bag of ice would be wasted on me this week haha

      • I'd eat them for every meal. A McDouble is the most nutritionally complete food that mankind has ever produced and you can make one by adding an extra meat party to this 50 cent burger.

Don't forget to utilise the Gmail task specific feature to create multiple Macca's accounts.

    • Do you then get all of your cheeseburgers from one store, or travel around to multiple and get a cheeseburger from each? Doesn't really seem worth it.

Wear a fake moustache and a lab coat

      • +1

Same store, I've got 5 accounts.

        • +4

          Is that all?

      • in my experience, the store wont care. This isnt mcdonalds, but I had a few accounts on spin to win at hungry jacks, 2 on my phone and 2 on my ipad. I would go there every day and spin right infront of the cashier and they didnt say anything. Sadly they stoped using the app and I stoped going for my daily 5$ burger

I once got shut down at a HJs trying to use 2xcoupons in the 1 transaction!

      • +1

would be easiest, especially if you have multiple devices that can run the maccas app so you don't have to logout/login multiple times.
right now i've got more phones than maccas accounts.
oh, and submit each order one at a time, only takes seconds — once i did it at exactly the same time from two different phones and i borked their system lol. ended up with a free hashbrown but i'd rather avoid it since it's a pain explaining the whole situation to them.

        • If you're on Android there's apps that can duplicate apps, so you wouldn't need multiple devices or to keep logging in and out.

          • @MiscOzB: Which apps please?
            Thanks

            • @kdmeir: I'm on iOS myself so I haven't tried any, but here's one that's been suggested here previously https://appcloner.app/

There were a few others mentioned in another thread but I can't find the thread now.

          • @MiscOzB: i've heard of those but the lone android i currently use barely copes with the maccas app lol.

    • wow I've never seen this Gmail account feature! do you have to sign in and out of the Mymaccas app everytime you order a new cheeseburger?

      • +1

Yes you'll need to sign in and out to redeem the code.

    • Looks like you need a google workplace email

      • +5

        Works on consumer '@gmail.com'

    • Anyone know if this would also work with a hotmail address?

    • Or the dot google trick

    • This feature is not only available to Gmail and you check if an email provider supports this by looking for "Plus addressing" under the "Address modifiers (subaddressing)" column in the features table (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_webmail_provider…).

  • +6

I need at least 8 cheeseburgers, one is not enough.

  • +2

why don't they just set it at the permanent price for this because the tiny cheeseburgers you get now they might as well.

    • Climate change

      • -7

Then they would expand in the heat.

So we can rule out global warming then…

      • +1

        Don't forget COVID and Russia/Ukraine!

        • +1

don't worry give a year we will be all speaking russian soon.

    • Covid pricing. Or just pricing, as we call it now.

  • +7

In before "hacks" like removing the cheese so Maccas owes you money.

    • +6

Don’t be silly — if you remove the cheese it will no longer be a cheeseburger

      • +10

        It's not really cheese anyway….

    • Their system unfortunately doesn't allow the total sale to dip below $0. Yes, I tried last time. I may have a photo of the receipt somewhere.

    • Reminds me of a certain Woolworths deal

  • +2

After having to fight for a month to get my money back on a large order, with online provider telling me I had to deal with the store and the store telling me I had to deal with online, neither of which could see the transaction on their system despite the charge against my credit card, I will never use this app again. Life isn't long enough.

    • Life is shorter if you eat a cheeseburger every day… shorter but sweeter

  • Any order limit, asking for a mate.

    • Don't know if this is meant to be a r/woooosh moment

The 50c deal is limited to the first 350,000 cheeseburgers, with one redemption per customer

      • +1

So limit is one for me, and 249999 I'm ordering for friends.

        Total only $175000.

Me and my friends might not be able to eat them all the same day, but these burgers literally last forever………

      • +1

        just create multiple accounts. easy.

  • +2

It's not slashing the price. If it was slashing prices, everyone would be able to get 10 for $5.

    • -3

      Create 10 accounts.

      • +5

        Thanks, wasn't my point.

    • +2

Exactly! And it wouldn't be limited to the first 350,000

What's the over/under for what time it runs out, I'd say well before lunch.

  • +1

is there a limit to how many one person can buy if someone put 350000 as the quality would it stop you? :D repackaged them and resell them as skinner burgers or Steamed hams?

    • The 50c deal is limited to the first 350,000 cheeseburgers, with one redemption per customer

      • -5

The joke has gone way over the guys head just like space flight :D

  • +1

These things are so tiny, really they are only worth $1. I guess for 50 cents it's worth picking one up.

  • How do you know about upcoming deals ?

    • +1

He's dealbot, that's how. Or look at the top of the post where he names his sauce, I mean source.

  • 1 per how ever many email accounts you wanna sign up to a maccas app

  • +3

Maccas will still make a profit selling at this price

    • It will easily cover variable costs at least, not sure about if you account for fixed

  • Still how can you use more then one email at a single Maccas , wouldn't they get sus real quick

    • +1

They don't care (at least that's the case at my local). Can place 2 separate orders (using a single voucher for each) max in drive-thru but you could just drive around again.

      • I do one or two in-store, then do the final one through the drive-through :D

  • -3
  • RBA won't be increasing interest , is forms a major percentage of the CPI basket of goods. :P

  • i've just realised it's the same day as the free hj's whopper — breakfast, lunch and dinner sorted for 2 days lol

  • +2

I'd like to know what % of Maccas sales are via the app, I don't think it's many. People love paying RRP for this garbage…

    • +1

Might be a bit of a stretch but I'd hazard a guess around 5% at most.

When waiting in store for my mobile orders generally most people will go up to the counter or use the kiosks - likewise with KFC and Hungries (minus the kiosks). People go in and will blindly pay for whatever they feel like, whereas my cheap ass self will comb through the app trying to find the most amount of food for least amount.

For this deal I'd be combining it with the $4.95 happy meal - two cheeseburgers, chips, drink and a toy! for $5.45.

      • I think you're right. My cheap ass self will check all my 4 accounts before deciding, lol. I'm not poor, just can't pay RRP for this food.

    • i don't even consider going to maccas unless there's a deal in the app. i love the fish filet burger but i'll wait until i get a 15% off offer to get it as a large meal.

      • You know there are 20% and 25% offers?

There is also 'spend $20 to get $5 off' and 'spend $30 to get $10 off' (I have only ever seen the 'spend $30 to get $10 off once though, very rare)

        • i know…it's been sitting in the rewards section of my app for months. not spending $20 on maccas in one hit, let alone $30

          • @tdw: I am not talking about the 'in app payment' one (which is 20% by the way). I am talk bout the standard offers that refresh every Monday and Thursday night (which have 25% off).

            • @random12: must be targeted because they're not appearing in any of my accounts.

        • There's also a $15 off if you spend $40, but I've only had that twice

  • Thanks, lunch sorted.

  • Wish they allowed more per order, remember a similar promotion years ago where it was limited to 4 per customer (either 50c or $1 each, can’t remember).

    • they'd go broke from that kind of generosity ;)

  • Even at 50 cents each, I still drove straight past.
