  • I remember this on dreamcast. I didn't get the appeal. 5 minutes of it was enough.

Anyone care to explain what I'm missing?

    • +3

      Not missing anything.

It's just a classic arcade game, designed to play the same thing over and over, improving your high score.

There's nothing in depth to say about Mr. Driller, it's exactly what you see, with naturally more skill and planning the higher a score you're after.

You will not enjoy it if that's not your jam, as drilling to the bottom is trivial and takes 5mins, so that'll be the end of the game for you. Couple other modes but they're not particularly interesting.

So for those that don’t mind such games (eg. Tetris) - it’s good?

Worth it as a casual multiplayer party game?

        • +1

In case you're still wondering, it's not bad as a casual party game for sure.

Easy to pick up and can be quite frantic. Definitely worth $6 for that use.

For solo, try the demo, from memory it lets you play the core mode through 500m, which is roughly 3mins (it goes up a few levels in full, so it's longer).

That will tell you immediately if you want to do that more than once :) (there are 4 other modes but they all twist on this same mechanic)
