Free to Attend - Apple Developers Online Conference (WWDC), 6-10 June (PDT)

642

It’s a freebie to attend virtually, used to cost a lot of money to attend and experience all 5 days physically before the covid pandemic started. Therefore it is a deal IMO, happy for mods to remove if it doesn’t fit the ozbargain criteria.

  • Will I get an iphone if I attend?

      Now that'd be a deal.

Yeah! One with Tim Apple's autograph on it.

I can autograph your phone for free.

        • It’s a little-known fact that Tim Apple’s full name is Captain James Apple

This is interesting. WWDC was about getting 1-on-1 support with Apple Engineers and techies. That was it's real value to developers and primary reason to attend. You get live support, network with other developers and learn things along the way to improve your own skills and product. Plus freebies, unlimited food, evening events, concerts etc.

It wasn't supposed to be a wider public audience show. Will be interesting to see how it works now.

Well, the only difference is attending in person is no longer an option.

Watching virtually has always been free, not sure how this is a "deal".

Well, a Deal is not a Freebie to begin with. Look at the title of this website "Deals, Coupons, Vouchers, Discounts and Freebies - OzBargain", so a Freebie is classified differently to a Deal.

      • What if there's a coupon that gives you a discount that makes something a freebie - is that a deal?

      • Yep, fair point, after all not all deals are freebies and not all freebies are deals, hence the different classification.

My point is that this post is neither a deal or a freebie.
If it was a freebie then literally any video uploaded to YouTube is now a freebie.

  • See you guys in 62 days :)

Aren’t devs moving to Web 3.0?

  • I’ll just wait for the recap. 🤔

  • How long before VR conferences become mainstream and we have to pay for tickets based on where we're seated in the VR space?

i believe you need to pay $150 to join the developer program in order to attend/register for the sessions. the opening keynote though is live and free for everyone.

It's always been free to watch online. Not a deal.
