Not sure if this is a good deal but 40% off RRP 2,198.99 down to $1318.99 for an AMD Ryzen 7 5825U

Price is with 16GB ram selected.

Hoping if someone could give an advise if this is good for coding, simulation and light photoshop? Or are they better alternative in the 13-14 inch category.

Can't seem to find much review on this unit tho.

  • Bought the Ryzen 5 version 5625U 8GB one for 899. Haven't used it yet, but the overall built is pretty solid for 14 5425 series.

    • for some reason if I select the option to 5625U , it becomes more expensive 1798.98. Which is weird.

Yeah hopping more people would chime in and give their opinion here or if there is a better deal.

  • No, not a great deal. Screen is not what you'd expect for a "$2,000" notebook.
Lenovo has better deals recently. Not sure exactly about now though

    • Lenovo has 8 weeks waiting time tho for any custom build :(

Which model of Lenovo you recommend + configuration ?

They always quote 8 weeks but delivery is usually 2-4 weeks.
There's a few deals to compare if you search for 5800u or 5800H

In any case I'd recommend holding for 6 weeks if you can. There should be 6000u CPU laptops available by then.

  • It was $1099 from dell ebay two days ago. Wait for next dell ebay sale if you want this laptop

i wouldnt touch a AMD laptop

    • why is that? what your experience so far has been?

      • +1

Its getting cold, probably wants an intel to act as a lap warmer.

    • Strange to make a statement like this with nothing to back it up. Plenty of AMD based laptop deals posted on OzBargain from multiple vendors. I own and have used multiple AMD Ryzen based laptops since 2017 and have not had a major issue.

All you have to do is just do a simple Google search and there are plenty of positive reviews of AMD based laptops.

      • yeah that why i was curious with ups statement and wonder what his experience was.

Good laptop but HDMI 1.4 is meh. You need at least 2.0 to drive a 4k monitor @ 60hz.

AMD processors are very cheap to buy. I would assure this to compare with an i3 processor on intel and AMD's normally have built in or integrated graphics which tend to slow down the speed after some usage.
Buy a dedicated graphics laptop which will be good for photoshop too.

In response to what you have stated, which is very untrue. AMD processors are completely priced. If AMD hadn't introduced the Ryzen generation of CPU back in 2017, you would be still paying well over $1000 for a 6 core Intel CPU and still be using an over-priced quad core in the mainstream.

In terms of CPU and graphics performance, just search Google on AMD laptop's performance, like the Asus G14. You will see it completely the opposite of what you are saying.

screen is only 250nits brightness so bit of a deal breaker
