  • Hmmm… You'd think the blurb would be updated to recognise that this is the 1Tb version rather than the 500Gb model. Or maybe only half the drive is usable???

  • I think with Segate they dont count 1GB = 1,000MB. I think its less so with 1TB you wont be getting exactly 1,000GB usuable space.

Happned to me with my Segate 250GB drive, I could only get 220GB or somthing

  • I think you will find that all Hard Disk manufacturers use the same system,
    not just Seagate.

  • Strictly speaking 1Gb=1024Mb and 1Tb=1024Gb..

All storage manufacturers use 1Gb=1000Mb and no doubt susequently 1Tb=1000Gb..

  • Lol slightly cheaper than Harris Tech? :P HOWEVER, shipping not factored in (free for HT? Can't remember that deal) — shipping to Burwood is $21.70. >.>

I agree with lostincanberra about the blurb…1gig isn't 1000meg anyway, it's 1024mb, isn't it? No matter what, it's still substantially more than 500, so it's probably due to unupdated blurb. :P

Edit: HT shipping isn't free in that previous deal~~ Got confused with something else. XD

  • The HT deal is here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/6880
HT is much cheaper with Free Shipping (admin fee applies) compared to the $20+ shipping cost from CSW, or simply pick-up in HT :P

  • too bad that high shipping cost is a let down..

  • Just to clarify a few things:
1 - we incorrectly put the weight of the 1TB drive as 5kg as opposed to 1.72kg. This caused an excess charge on freight that has now been fixed. EG - shipping to Burwood is now $10. Alternatively it can be picked up at our Mt Waverley store.
2 - HT.com.au do NOT have free shipping on this product. In fact according to their website its $10.29 to ship to Burwood.
    3 - We have changed the text from 500GB to 1000GB (yes i know it's technically 1024GB)

    • Nice to see an official reply from the retailer! Good stuff!

    • HT ships this product to Burwood NSW (2134) for $6.52. Shipping to Burwood Vic and to Victoria in general is true for $10.29. However CSW ships to Sydney is $12.70, so I guess NSW buyers are better off with HT.

1TB only gives you approx. 950GB as calculated by Windows

  • Our check was for Burwood Vic… happy to price match the delivery if you contact our call centre on 1300 658 600 and mention OzBargain.

  • I just got a HD so I'm not actually interested in another one, which's why I'm not voting on this one. XD Still, it IS nice to see the retailer commenting. :)

And yeah, I just plonked in some random postal code in Sydney. :)
