Is the back-plate thermally insulative plastic or conductive metal?

    • -3

      Yes

    • +4

100% plastic… does nothing but trap hot air and after checking out the GPU tear down they have placed THERMAL Pads above the GPU socket to prevent any plastic that touchs the rear GPU socket from melting.

Asus, Gygabyte, Saphire and XFX all use a metal back plate with cut outs around the rear GPU socket in the metal to vent heat.. buy from one of those brands … This is a stupid design and MSI needs to get with the times… NO backplate at all would be better then this

Edit: actually you’d end up near some Portuguese islands haha

  • I will prefer ASUS over MSI because of past experience with MSI motherboard.

What happened with ya msi mobo?

      • +2

Have a few dead motherboard before but long time ago, so far all the ASUS motherboards I built have less trouble.

If ASUS motherboard available I will use ASUS first, second Gigabyte.

    • My ASUS rx570 died twice, once within warranty period

  • +2

My rx5700xt mech sounded like a jet engine under load, I would avoid this mech model.

    • difference will be the 5700xt always ran hot and high power draw, the 6600 series are very low powered and cool running

  • Would go with the ASUS card but both are pretty comprable

  • +1

I have this card, it does get noisy under load. Maintain around 54c under load. Power draw is low.

Plays Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 fps on medium settings.

Overkill for 1080p but I find it struggle with a couple of titles at 1440p.

  • Is it an upgrade over a 1660 Super?

  • AMD refresh soon this looks like it will be a normalized price

  • +1

I haven't seen a single aorus/strix/evga. All are asrock/colorful/ventus/mech. Currently paying over msrp for a low tier models

    3060ti msrp is $535aud

  • Price is increased to $649
