It apparently works with Rockwell/ToolPro/Worx batteries
If someone can confirm that would be great. I stumbled upon this post but the OP was still investigating if XU1 can use other batteries:

Not backward Compatible with previous generation XU1 18 volt kits!
I bought an XU1 drill a while back - it was promoted here on OzB. I only wanted it because it is small and light for DIY. I tried it out but it was very slow and made "grindy" noises. I pulled the thing apart and repacked the ball bearings in the gearbox with extra grease (lithium). This seemed to help but as the thing was pretty much plastic I considered it not even fit for DIY so it was returned for a refund.
This model may be made in a different factory for all I know as it uses a different battery to previous XU1.
Minimum costs of the Battery please
