  • Nice!

Question for anyone who knows… how useful is an adjustable FOV, eg like what you get with the Brio? I’m trying to decide if it would be handy for WFH to be able to select if I only want my body shown, and limit what’s seen to the side of me.

Or perhaps that’s just a gimmick?

    • Are you sure you even need this? Usually, teams / zoom / meet / others have a blur background option, also the FOV is usually dependent on what else you have on the screen, meaning the sides get cut off when in a conference with lots of people depending on the size of the window.

Oh man, this is it. Thank you for this! Great reference there.

I use the zoom and pan features to centre and show from shoulders up. Without it, people can see me if I’m looking down at my phone. It also allows others to see you clearly even when the size is small, ie zoom list mode.

    • Not very adjustable however it's already zoomed in quite a bit.

I used mine with Teams/Zoom sitting arms length away and it only captures my upper chest upwards.

      Just use an background image.

      or $89 with AFTERPAY10

      • AfterPay code didn’t work for anyone that’s already used it in the past though!

        • +1

if you used it in the past wont be able to use it again

          • @RogueWolf: Had a $10 off from eBay Plus, unsure what for can't keep up with their discount codes.

Cheers OP, $89 all up for a decent-ish webcam for the parentals.

Good camera… I am just too ugly to be shown in more details :)

Same. Do what I did. Buy the camera anyway, but don't turn it on when video chatting

  • This or the streamcam for $149?

      This

If you don’t mind waiting for it to come from overseas, Streamcan can be had for $129.

Getting very close to pulling the trigger on it.

      • Is that $129 free shipping as well?

        • Will definetly be free if you have Prime subscription. Unsure if without.

Just checked down to $126 now. Haha. How low can it go.

          • +1

@tomsco: $122 if you go the white version

    • I have the streamcam, I would say get this one. Streamcam has a lot of gimmicky features and the non-detachable cable is just stupid.

      • What about the lens quality? Is there any difference? Gamers would also appreciate 1080p@60fps.

        • +1

What's your usage? I mainly use it for Zoom and Teams so Streamcam is an overkill. But quality-wise the 60fps is definitely an upgrade. It makes everything appear more smooth. But then again, these are things that are less noticeable if you are not a streamer. Just had a look at the link tomsco posted, Streamcam is around 20 dollars more expensive, I would say go for it.

          • @RobBoss: Thanks for answering. I use it for work, same as you, so don't care about the extra features, but was after an image quality upgrade from my Ausdom AF640, that I managed to get for around $55 a year and a half ago, and pulled the plug on the C922 last night for for $91.
However, just watched a couple of comparison reviews on YouTube and the AF640 actually looks a bit better, so I'm having major buyer's remorse.

Streamcam is one of the best webcams you can get (that's not saying too much though). Up there with Kiyo Pro and Elgato Facecam. The 922 is still good but it's only 1080p30 and it's basically a very old (but tried and true) webcam. Only issue with the Streamcam is that it's hardwired USB-C so if you want to use it on an older PC it will need an adaptor.

      • Streamcam also has autofocus which allows it to give a blurry picture. Actually seems to work close up, but useless in a conference room as it autofocuses on the wrong place.

I have the Creative Live cam. Is there a significant difference with this one?

    Ordered one, thanks OP.

I paid $220 at the last minute (desperate times…) in Feb 2020. It's a good webcam, nothing mind blowing but reliable and very clear, and you can (awkwardly) clip it to the front of your monitor. I haven't used the tripod much but I can see people getting use out of it.

Has an auto focus feature, but this option really struggles in darker rooms and flickers and lags if you don't have the blinds open/lamp or room light on. Still it's a nice touch and I use it. I've streamed and recorded lectures and talks with this webcam with no complaints as to quality or clarity etc.

Microphone keeps my voice crystal clear from ~1 metre away although I've always used it with 'Nvidia RTX voice' to cut out any background sound, which I have to say works wonders.

Doesn't come with any storage options for transport (like a cloth bag or a dust cover) but meh, I use an old sunglasses case if I need to drag it around. Hasn't suffered scratches or scuffs in two years of pretty heavy use.

Wasn't worth $220, but worth $99. Also bear in mind that it was released in 2016 (afaik)

      Nvidia RTX voice

      High-fidelity ray-traced sound waves? ;)

Damn, I remember buying stuff from Logitechshop back in 2009/2010. Hadn't noticed them around for ages. Thought they got bought out.

Ahh memories. The little shop in Carlingford aka Fluidtek with their atrocious but lovable MSY style webpage with garrish highlights. Run by Eddie (a character) that at one point moved more Logitech products than any other retailer in Australia - that made them a platinum distributor partner. The Fluidtek shopfront is now closed and LTS now runs online only but from North Rocks. Not sure if Eddie is still the owner or sold and moved on.

      • Good ol fast eddie.

      • Can anybody find out if it's still Fast Eddie running LTS? Loved that guy!

  • +2

Anybody got experience using these with Linux? Are you able to configure all the useful features using an application like "guvcview" for example?

  • +1

I have this. Love it. Haven't really had to play around with settings, just plug and pay. Really good detail. A very wide FOV by default. I used the app to zoom in and reduce the Fov.

  • I ordered this morning, but it's up to $109.

    • the original sellers Harris Tech/ logitechshop must have sold out, and its now gone to Amazon as the seller for $109. Only positive for the extra $ is the AZ delivery
