They can't help themselves but get more greedy each time with the 24 month plan hey. 12 month plans were great deals.

    • +8

      12m or RIOT!

    • +3

I did a 12 month one to get a 500 card, and would again. 24 months is taking the piss.

  • 🙅‍♂️

  • +6

    24? LooooooooooooooL

Can anyone confirm that as a current Telstra customer you must have ported out of the network for 30+ days/a month? I need regional coverage for work and can't really handle porting out that long (it's the only reason I'm with Telstra now) but don't want to miss out on all the good deals for non-customers

    • +2

Read through the most recent threads. Needs to be 30 days but you’ll always see the one incredible story about how someone dodged it (which no one else can replicate)

Second method is to get a new sim on a new service, then move that number to the Telstra plan, then convince them you need to get your real number onto that new plan (merge). Doesn’t work for everyone and often requires a lot of effort.

Tl;dr it’s not easy nor guaranteed to work around Telstra’s current rules.

      • Why is Telstra resistant to do the merge?

        • +1

To make their annual report looking nice. New customers brought into contracts.

        • I doubt it’s real resistance but it’s difficult because you need to get through to someone within Telstra that specifically deals with mobile number portability. Sales reps won’t know how to do it.

I can't even use up 60GB of data in six months. Currently using $150 6 months prepaid plan from telstra

    • +2

Oh man, get on boost (Telstra 4g). I'm spending $150 for 120gb over 12 months.

      • Hmm, might be my next churn. Reception on Optus or Voda at my place is terrible.

      • +1

I can swing you some data if it saves you money. I have 320gb racked up, but don't need that much.

        • Oh I didn’t know you can share data? I struggle to use the 120gb to be honest haha.

      • Optus have the same plan at this time (https://www.optus.com.au/prepaid/sim-plans)

        • Yes but Optus.

        • Can you port in from Telstra? This is an online offer, not sure if you could port in.

  • jeezzz, why they keep mucking around with this game…lol…

  • +9

Look how they massacred my boy.

  • +3

yeah no one should get this, riot them until they give us 12 month

  • +1

ouch! 24 months.. no deal here

  • +1

This deal is not meant for ozbarganers lol

  • No deal on 24 months

  • +2

    24 months killed the deal

  • 24 months is a dealbreaker indeed…

  • -4

12 months deal is over boys… move on..

  • +7

2008 called, wants its 24 month plan back.

    • +3

With a free Nokia thrown in

      • Yup E71 or the fashionable N95

  • +1

I've looked back and the last 12 month deal was in December last year. Are we sure they will still come up again? I'm hanging out for one bit have been for a while now.

    • +1

I ended up going to Boost while I waited. Realised how cheap it was, and I just renewed another 365 day sim. $12.50 a month is so good

  • sorry guys but i just want to know .. why do all of you guys think 24m is not a good deal .. i mean i thought sticking to the same deal with the same data for 24months will leave me with one less thing to worry about .. right .. or am i thinking it the wrong way .. can anyone please enlighten me.. thanks in advance ..

Currently with Optus, have been with them for a 24 month plan and continuing on the same plan but with good discounts. Thinking of changing to telstra.

    • +1

in the past this same deal was available for only a 12 month contract. hence we are all spoiled by the previous deals.

    • +3

Because with the 12 month deal you can get this twice in 25 months of time. Hence $1000 gift card instead of $500. Way cheaper.

      • ahh got it .. so its basically for the gift card only .. right .. it has nothing to with the service being bad or anything else .. if that is the case .. i think i can live with it maybe .. i know its not the ozbargain way .. but just wanted to go with telstra from a long time ..

        • +1

Oh yeah entirely gift card/cost effectiveness based. I genuinely can't wait to get off of Optus to go back to Telstra. Sick of getting dropped calls. Driving me nuts. Especially as I'm driving to Mildura this weekend. Might have to just suck this up for myself and leave the mrs/parents phones on prepaid for now until the 12 month one appears

          • @ONEMariachi: I just drove back from Mildura, got home about an hour ago.
My little one played the iPad the entire way home with not one drop out (Optus)

        • If you don't need the data and value money, you can look at boost pre paid.

          • +2

@onlinepred: I get 25% off staff discount. So the telstra $59/12 months with $500gc works out 9c/month for me. Lol

  • 24? HAHA

  • I signed up but the crazy thing is, its cheaper to sign up for 69 for 12mths with a $300 voucher that it is to do 24mths $59 with a $500 voucher.

    • It’s true, but then you need to port out at the end of the year, wait 30 days, wait for hopefully a $300 voucher to be running, etc.

This is not Telstra best all time offer. If you don’t want to screw around with porting in/out every 12 months though, this is fine.

It works out to be a 5g plan with 100gb of data for 24 months for $38/mo.

  • +1

Agree with everything above. Not the cheapest or best offer ever but I needed a new phone and reliable reception so made the move. Any discount is better than none given I was changing anyway

  • +1

On the link there is $69 dollar deal for 100gb over 12months.

I think one can get$10 off the total price by asking for it.

    • Do you ask the JB rep or do you have to ask Telstra online chat?

      • +1

No they offered it without even asking in the store and it's for 24 months

  • +1

Just got an email and it says a $600 gift card for the same deal starting today. I signed up for it today and didn't get the extra $100, I'll be going back on Saturday to query it.

    • Hey Jazz do you mind posting a shot of the email. I would like to get this deal.

      • +1

Can confirm that I received the email as well. You might check your local store on Saturday as well.

      • How do I post the screenshot?

        • Thanks Jazz and Kenciah, I’ll go in tomorrow.

          • @dubtee: Turns out the sale is for today only. I missed out on $100 cos I signed up 2 days early :-(
