looks good but just be aware that tcl website says "security update until april 2023" - so only 1 year of security updates to go

Most budget phones are like that.

The pain is when moving all the stuff to the new phone.

      • true - but redmi note 11 has security updates til january 2025

        • Redmi Note 11 looks like a better bet.

@netjock: Redmi Note 11 will also get android 12 and 13 - i agree better bet - also transferring everything from redmi to redmi is painless

      • Bought oppo last year and they have an app to move phones and it was easy peasy

        • True for Oppo but not for all phone brands.

TCL = Alcatel which had the malware scandal.

I'm not sure if anyone wants the real facts as this is ozbargain.

AHHH i didn't know that. I had a TCL air conditioner. It was a piece of s**t. I'd never buy their products. The TCL tv at the hotel had terrible picture quality

      • Probably too good of a job monitoring you to do their primary function. You must be a special person.

Nokia own Alcatel. TCL are just licensed to use the name for a few more years 😉

    • Pretty shady of TCL. They licensed Alcatel from Nokia and soiled the brand like that, not that I knew what the brand was before it was licenced out tho

Snapdragon 662 which is an updated 660 if anyone wants to know. Might be a good phone to use as a tablet. The screen is about the same size as the original google Nexus tablet (7")

  • Is this good to replace a Samsung a30 for a teen or should I keep looking?

    • I replaced my A30 with this. This is absolutely an upgrade. A30 was slow. Struggled with a few apps open. Cameras below average. This is snappy. I can have 5-10 apps open no problem. Everything works as is should. I think it's good value at this price point. Any of the issues mentioned in reviews I haven't had at all.

  • Just brought this but will be returning. Camera only shoots at 30fps and looks quite bad.
