  • Is it true what they say with this webcam? That it doesn't support Apple M1 chip?

    • I use this with my M1 MacBook Air with no problems.

      • Have you found it significantly superior to the built in M1 MacBook air camera?

I presume as the microphones on the M1 are very good you use the MacBook mics and the Logitech video?

        • +2

I do find the camera much better than the built in M1 Macbook air camera, but I can't comment on the microphone quality (no one on my zoom calls have complained about the quality when I use the Logitech mic over the macbook mic)

        • It works fine on my 14/16" M1 Pro/Max MBPs too, but the video quality and particularly Auto WB is pretty bad in comparison. Needs the G Hub software installed for advanced controls.

        Thanks for clarifying NinjaBear

I use this with my M1 MBP and I have no issues. The inbuilt mic is really good. The camera quality is excellent.

    • I have a c922 and it doesn’t detect on my m1 mba.

      • Worked on my M1 Mac Mini. Tried it just now.

        • Just went back and tried again.. must have been driver updates or something has changed. It now works!

All these comments made me dig it out of the cupboard and test again haha :)

I bought a creative 1080P V2 which now can go in the cupboard :P

The Logitech C922 works fine on devices powered by Apple M1 chips and MacOS Monterey.

The caveat is the Logitech software doesn't work. You have to use the C922 with whatever setting control you find in the host application. E.g. Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams. The only Logitech software which will run is their 'G hub' which basically has no useful controls for the C922 on a M1 device.

  • A very decent camera for video calls (Zoom, etc) and the mic is OK but your best to use a headset for better sound quality.
White Exposure and contrast can be an issue (if left on auto) but most computer apps allow you to manually control this and you can also do this with the Logitech software.

Someone said in a previous post that this is a 6 year old device. Would expect better tech and value is out there in more recent devices. Or am I wrong in this case?

    • Of course there are newer and better.

Suprisingly by reading the reviews of the Brio https://www.amazon.com.au/Logitech-BRIO-Conferencing-Recordi… being newer doesn't always mean better.

      • +1

I own and use a Brio and my personal experience has been great. Had plenty of people comment on just how good the image is compared to any other webcams. That being said, I’d only recommend shelling out for a Brio if you can get it for a good price or specifically need 4K. Its definitely not $150 better (on current pricing) than a C922 Pro.

I wondered that too but from what I can see tech moving slowly in this spce

The c920 is still for sale and its like 10 years old!

Thanks OP I ended up buying one

  • Thanks op got one, Amazon sent me a $10 coupon last night for purchasing a "prime eligable item" (I think it was my post item I bought https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/695166 that actually qualify me) anyway this camera only cost me $88 after applying that coupon and been looking to get one for a while.

Still cheaper on eBay ~$91 with this comment from last deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11996556/redir

  • I have 2 of this. Average quality overall. The USB cable is a bit short imo. And you will need a separate headset/mic because it has crappy mic

    • +2

I have no issues with my mic. I have done several recordings of presentations and have found the mic to be really good.

      • +2

Your expectations will really be what determines how satisfied you are with the quality of the C922's built-in microphone.

The C922 has 2 condenser microphones with tiny diaphragms setup with about 8cm separation to provide a stereo audio signal. Due to the diaphragm size and their plastic covering, the mics are run with high gain; they are noisy and don't reject much background noise. They've been designed with an ideal distance to the speaker of about 60-70cm.

For these to sound ok you really need to use the C922 in ideal audio conditions; a well treated room with no reverb, and with the sound source (the people speaking) within about 60-100cm from the webcam.

This is never going to sound like a Shure SM7B connected via a DBX 286s. It is going to sound like a webcam microphone :-)

Can you use this as a home security camera and connect it to the computer?

    • Yes is you have software like BlueIris

  • Does this camera rotate left and right? or just tilt up and down? If it just rotates then it's no good to me!

    • +1

Just has tilt up and down, no rotation when mounted on top of a display.

      • The tripod could resolve that issue, but occupies more space on my desk. A shame.

  • Just got mine from Amazon. It’s ok don’t see what all the hype is about though
