  • Rep can you confirm there is no nickel content in this cutlery?

    • 18/0 stainless steel implies no nickel. This means more susceptible to corrosion. So not really "highest quality stainless steel". Neg for me.

    • Hi,

Sorry for mistake, We have confirmed the material and it is Stainless Steel 18/10 which means 18% chromium and 10% nickel.
      Again sorry for the mistake.

False discount. Was $125. Less elsewhere.
Why be so timid as to claim only $255 normal price?
Competitor yourkitchenshop.com.au lists an RRP of $349.95, making for an even BIGGER saving!

    Misleading pricing

    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)

Advertising or promotions of 'savings' or 'discounts' on the RRP of goods and services are designed to convince you that you are getting a good deal because the price is less than the RRP.

If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do.

If you are concerned about misleading price, I suggest there are bigger fish to fry. For example, Harris Scarfe, its always 40-50% every other week.

      • At least HS did have the products displayed at the higher price.
Some mugs probably even paid it.
The high price here is totally fake. Trying to make people think it is not cheap crap that will rust if left in the dishwasher too long.

        • Yeah grrr at my Maxwell Williams set, rusts at the hint of water, so annoying. Care to recommend any reasonable priced decent sets? (If you know any, else I should get on the google train)

        • I've been looking at these from HS. But I can't for the life of me figure out the difference between the 'Bristol' http://www.harrisscarfe.com.au/store/this-weeks-deals/stanle… or the 'Oscar' http://www.harrisscarfe.com.au/store/this-weeks-deals/stanle…

There are 14 more pieces in the Oscar for $10 extra, but from the photo both sets look identical in aesthetics to each other?

        • Just look for something with a decent nickel content, that is not too light.
It will have a smooth glossy finish, compared to the dull satin finish of the cheaper alloy.
A good cutlery set has less than $10 worth of nickel in it, so it does not have to be expensive.

        • Pattern is different.

Bristol has a line going around the inside, that kind of matches the shape of the handle.

Stanley Rogers has a line that touches the bottom of the handle, so the handle looks like wings on left and right of the line

    • Hi Manic,

On getprice.com.au our price is listed wrong by Getprice, we are in contact with them to rectify the error.
And RRP on our site is provided by the brand.

You can buy cutlery at your local Chinese dollar shop for $1 a piece. Most of my cutlery has been used for well over 5 years with no corrosion or rusting at all. No idea why you would pay "RRP $225" for cheap crap like that.

  • If you want good cutlery deals just check the Harris Scarfe catalogs. They have Stanley Rogers sets on sale more often than not!

I recommend Albany. Classic and stylish. Look for the 10-place setting sets for < $100

  • Negging because I am so pissed at false claims.

  • Viners have got a 50% sale off today only on all cutlery.

They have 18/10 stainless steel and silver plated cutlery, real quality stuff.

Now unfortunately they are based in the UK so you'll either have to use a forwarding service or get someone you know to send them to you.

It'll be worth it considering you could save up to $140 just on todays 50% off.
