I panicked and bought the 3060ti for $1.1k back in Jan from MSY, but luckily returned it for full refund, sigh in relief!

Someone also panicked and bought toilet paper rolls.

    • +1

      Well that escalated quickly.

      $699 -> $2700

  • So is the price of vga's coming down all round?

    • Yes

    • +1

      you should upgrade to svga

      • Nah - it'll never catch on.

    • Yes, but xga is still overpriced

    • There's going to be a GPU price apocalypse towards the end of this year IMO.
      a) Etherum miners will jump out of the mining market when it goes Proof of Stake, will be SOOO many cards on second hand market
      b) Intel GPU's will be competing at low & middle tier cards with their new Desktop GPU series, Probably Q3 or Q4
      c) AMD got new GPU's coming after the RX xx50 XT refresh is done in next few months They will be out Q3 or Q4
      d) Nvidia said it will be pumping out RTX 3000's while RTX 4000's are released at launch

There will be SOOOOO many GPU's coming and then there's normal 2nd hand market who will dump more to upgrade to RTX 4000 or for a deal on the rest.

GPU shopping spree inbound, start saving :) Gotta collect them ALL :D

Why would ethereum burn its miners?

        • hehe dont give us hope man… give some hope to gamers

        • +1

It's because people believe whatever they read online.

        • It's in the eth devs interest to go PoS - PoS gives more power/wealth to those who hold eth, and the devs hold a vast amount. Crypto has also been coming under more flak for for it's enormous energy use, so it's in their interest to get ahead of that. Lastly, most miners have more than made their ROI and have plenty of warning that the roadmap is heading to PoS eventually, so its not like they are being deceived or hung out to dry. The harder question is, what benefit do eth devs have for wanting to keep PoW around?

          • @ssfps: Ethereum is going from a centralised pre-mined to a centralised banker coin.

Miners will move to Ethereum Classic.

          • @ssfps: Piece of Shit, or Point of Sale?

Anyone know sites that show performance % difference between cards? This deal seems decent and wouldn't need to afterpay ($500 6600XT)

    • +3

3060 Ti is about 15% faster than than the 6600 XT. It's a tier above and trades blows with the 6700 XT. Also has much better RT and includes DLSS support which can help if you want to play at 4K. Also the 3060 Ti can do x16 PCI-E 3.0 or 4.0 whereas the 6600 XT has cost cutting which limits it to x8. It's not a problem if you have a 4.0 but at 3.0 you can run into performance issues in some games.

      https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3060-ti.c3…

There's a relative performance graph half way down the page.

      • is 3060 Ti the best RTX card in terms of performance : $

        • Came on to pull the trigger and they sold out…maybe next time haha

        • before was, no depends on the price.

The link you posted shows it at 11% average faster than 6600XT. But it's 140% more expensive ($200 more - 500 vs $700 for the 3060ti).

It's not a problem if you have 4.0 but at 3.0 you can run into performance issues in some games

Not sure if a loss of 1-2% tops on a 3.0 vs 4.0 system could be classed as "running into performance issues". This is a problem with the gimped 6500xt, not the 6600xt.

          40% more

        • 11% faster is 111% when you compare to the "140% more expensive" comparison. 140% more than $500 is $1200. I think you mean 11% faster but 40% more.
