Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 4G $0 on Optus 30GB Choice Plus Data Plan $12.50/Month for 12 Months @ Optus

11571

This one started today, but I went into my Optus App to get it and there was a 50% off data sim offer that stacked with the $0 Tablet.

Has to be 30gb data plan or above.

So my deal was

$12.50 x 12 Months
Tab A8 64gb 4G
30 GB Data added to my data pool
$150 total cost.

          • @cms1: Don't be ridiculous. Then georgev won't get all these individual requests that make them feel important (even though it's a waste of time for all parties).

        • can you send me a copy?

      • +3

The final invoice had $5.82 p/m for the tablet (went for the 128gb) for twelve months including $44.04 p/m device repayment discount, so seems legit.

        • Can you please pm me the invoice? The optus charges me $26 for 36 months.

      • A copy for me mate.. this will me in the fight next year..

    • please pm me screenshot as well. Cheers.

    • Plz send me too :)

    • Hi, Could you also please PM a photo of the chat. Thanks

    • Can I get a copy also :)

    • Could you please PM a copy?

    • +6

Please don't send me a copy

    • Could you also send me a copy of the chat?

  • +1

So, it's a data only plan not data and call.sim?

    • +1

Yes but you can share data between sims.

      • As long as you aren't on an older plan. I have 3 numbers with 185GB for $95/month and they told me I would have to "upgrade to current market plans" at $55 each with 80GB each to data share with the tablet.

You can imagine what I said.

  • Legend, thanks needed one. Great deal

  • +2

I assume this won't stack with the $55 cashrewards cashback for data plans due to the 50% promo?

  • Thanks OP, got 1

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought 2 for my kids.

    • I bought 2 for the backup. don't really need it. The sim card on the other hand is useful to use in my ipad and laptop. cool.

  • The chat rep said they won’t honour the order as two discounts can’t be given in same order. My order is still Temporary. Anyone received confirmed order email ?

    • +2

Ignore the rep, they can say whatever they want, I got the confirmation email and everything is written in the pdf file.

      • What PDF file are you referring to?

        • +1

In the confirmation email, there is an attachment pdf file.

          • @T-man: Ah, mine doesn't have that attachment (I've only received "Your Order Confirmation #XXX" e-mail so far).

        • I ordered 2 one confirmation email with pdf one without

      • -1

They have probably left notes on my account and they might cancel my order when processing

    • Haven't received the confirmation email yet neither, but the pdf contract on the confirmation page shows my service number. So it's already provisioned.

    • My order is also showing up as Temporary. No PDF attachment. I hope Optus does not cancel my order. This is a cracker of a deal.

      • I couldn’t see either of my orders in my contracts. I placed another order later and received sms and email confirmation straight away and also showed up in my contracts. The chat confirmed the termporary orders were not in my account.

    • you should be able to view all your contracts from your optus account under My Profile | Contracts

I got $55 AUD cashback from Cashrewards.

Estimated approval: Up to 90 days
    Store Optus - Postpaid
Date of purchase 23 Apr 2022
    Amount AUD 496.94*

    • damm.. I should have used cash rewards:(

    • +3

The cashrewards terms state that the cashback may be rejected if a promotion code is used that isn't listed on the CR website. I wouldn't assume that will be approved. I even somewhat doubt these orders will be honoured from Optus.

      • +4

Not actually using a promotion code at all though - it's just what the offer/promotion is.

    • how did you do it? doesnt it have to be done via optus app not desktop to order? also im on prepaid and can see offer so i guess i qualif? anyone know if its micro or type c usb?

      • I tried to do it but couldn't see the 50% off plan so have up.
Tracking doesn't mean it will be paid up.
But worth a try if you don't have access to the 50% off plan

      • +1

@coolsteps follow the direct link above. (pinned msg)
@Tyrx I doubt it also but nothing to lose here.

$30 cashback on the 30Gb plan… $55 on the higher plans

        • Postpaid Mobile Broadband (Device & Data Sim Plan) $55

          • +1

@Smallman: Sorry my bad.. looks like us unlucky ones only tracked for Postpaid Mobile - SIM Only Plans $30

Just submitted an enquiry for incorrect rate.. see what happens..

      • I only got $30 as well

    • +1

My order only have been tracked $30 cashback..You lucky.

      • CR fixed mine now showing $55 pending hopefully it will be paid out.

        • Ooo me too. It happened automatically; I didn't contact them.

    • How do you find the link to this offer after clicking through Cashrewards?

      • +1

If you have the CR extension you can just activate after clicking the link here.

    • Cashback was what tipped me over the edge to jumping on board.

  • Thanks OP, got one

  • How do you get the 50% discount on the $25 /30gb data ??

    • Need to be an optus customer and do it through the app

      • +1

Definitely do it through the direct link rather than the app if you are trying to stack cash rewards.

        • How do you find the link after clicking through Cashrewards?

          • @deals4amar: Just paste this in your address bar after clicking through.

            • @randomusername2017: So that mean Cashback will still track, even if you entered a new URL?

              • @deals4amar: No guarantee of cashback… but tracking confirmation was almost instant.

                • @randomusername2017: Cool thank you.

                • @randomusername2017: How do you get past their credit check step? I'm having all sorts of troubles with that.

                  • @deals4amar: Credit check?
Only recall a few basic questions about employment and residence.

Only issue was finding an alternate form of ID to qualify as a new account for cashback.

                    • +1

@randomusername2017: They asked about job status , company worked for, Licence number, expiry, Home address / ownership etc. Sounded like credit check. It kept failing but then I realised, I already had an account associated with my details with different email. So ended up using that account and finally got through.

                      • @deals4amar: Think I had the same problem, prompted to login to old account when using ID associated with that account, used passport instead of DL and went through as a new customer.

    • Try this

ordered & confirmed on chat no other charges after 12mths, also got a copy of the chat transcript in case I need to go to war for extra charges after 12mths

    • Can u share the saved transcript?

      • +1

just go on chat, confirm the price of $0 & that there will be no extra charges after 12mths, then ask them to send you the transcript

i wouldn't stress, just look at the contract once you place the order, its fairly clear no other charges

(This is the total of all recurring monthly charges multiplied by the contract term, plus one month of supplementary services, plus one off costs)
Minimum monthly recurring charges for all services in this order excluding discounts less than service contract length $12.50
Supplementary charges for all your services in this order $0.00
Total one off costs for all your services in this order $0.00
        Device Credits
You are eligible for a device discount as a $44.04 per month credit for up to 12 months on service number xxxxxxxx. To receive this device credit you
must maintain an active mobile service on an eligible plan with Optus for the 12 months. If you terminate, port out or change to an ineligible rate plan
any remaining device credits will be forfeited and you will need to pay out in full any remaining device charges.

Here is a screenshot from my chat conversation: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/186968/95457/optuschat…

        • So do you need to have an active Optus mobile plan to be eligible for this deal?

  • I still have yet to receive the email.

  • Yes, can people share chat transcript.

Is there a need for the 128gb over the 64gb? I believe there were issues with previous samsung tablets that apps could not run off microSD card. Is that now possible on the Tab A*8? thx

    • I thought might as well for $70 spread over a year :)

    • 128gb has 4gb ram rather than 3gb, they fixed the apps running of SD thing

      • +3

        64gb already has 4gb ram, 32gb has 3gb.

        • Yeah so it seems, I didn't realise they still did a 32gb option.

    • Cheers. Auto wake/sleep feature. That's good.

    • +4

Wait until they actually ship these orders before buying model specific accessories, lol. We have no idea if these orders will be honoured.

      • It’s Amazon prime, easy return 😊

        • +3

Return won’t be free tho, if you’re honest that is.

      • according to Optus Livechat this is a genuine offer, so I see no reason it would not be honoured.

    • I will wait until I receive the tablet

    • What do you think of the case? My tablet arrived today so now I'm ready to buy one.

  • +1

Crazy, got one as a back up for the kids. Tempted to get two but no real need

  • optus seems to have removed the 128gb option and its only

    • Can still see it

    • If you go back and edit your order and try to change from 64GB to 128GB, you won't be able to, as it will only have 64GB listed.
What you need is to remove the item from the cart and start again, you should be able to select the 128GB option.

  • ref "Minimum total cost of $526.30 over your selected contract terms includes your chosen add-ons for their minimum term. SIM plan price, inclusions and add-ons may change if your plan changes. " is this normal just ignore it as it should be 12.50 x 12 = $150?

    • +1

It's cuz of you stay connected for 12/24/36 months Optus will give you credit making the device free. If you cancel on day one, you pay out 526.30.

  • +1

Grabbed a 64gb one thanks op. Don't even need it, somehow have to find a use.

  • +12

My first time feeling the true ozbargain experience - bought a device that I have literally no use for simply because it's cheap.

Edit: bought 3 in the end, mothers day gift for the Mother In Law, mothers day gift for the wife and a spare in case I need to get a gift for another family member and am stuck for ideas.
