i think its also worth mentioning that they are the selling the 15.6" IdeaPad Y570-0862MLM for 789. it has the same ram same hdd slightly faster cpu and a considerably faster gpu.All for less and in a smaller package

    • Worth noting: the Acer has a 1600x900 resolution, the Ideapad has a 1366x768 res.

  • How good is this laptop: Aspire AS5750 g- 2458G75Mnkk
Corei5 $599, is it really worth to buy this laptop????

nope.. I don't believe in brand like HP, ACER or Lenovo. I stick to the ASUS or MSI. Most of IT technician that I know, they always say to me, never buy ACER product. They said most of their customer who came there to got their lappy fixed, had ACER lappy. for me, if I wanna buy ACER. I'll buy the one over $1300, is fine, but, never buy one which is under $1000. You can believe me or not, but you risk a lot of buying acer

    • My brother bought an ASUS and the screen, hinge, keyboard, battery and the inbuilt wifi were ALL faulty.

I buy an ASUS motherboard and even that has a really annoying double reboot bug!

    • from experience, I would stay away with any computer products labeled as ACER (laptop to be the worst)

HP, Asus is so so, not too good but not too bad either!
Lenovo is getting worse but they were best in the past when they named "IBM ThinkPad" not "Lenovo ThinkPad"

MSI, Dell, Sony, Toshiba…specially those not made in Japan are not my preferred types! ;-P

well looking at your list, you haven't got many choices.. do you?

    • Depends on the model. I got a 6.5 year old acer5500z still running well.

Actually, there's much better configuration for $899: http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-15r-se-7520/pd.

You are getting a 3rd Gen (Ivy Bridge) i7 Processor, 1TB HDD and 6GB RAM. The Price is valid only until end of this month.

      • that's true! not sure why would anyone still go with 2nd Generation when 3rd is already out(with similar pricing)!

  • any 17" laptops with 1920*1080 resultion for less than $1000? I don't really care about speed as I just use for general use.
