Can you sleep with these comfortably?

    • +6

Not really, as the frame is too stiff and wouldn't sit right if you pressed one side to the pillow.

      • +4

        That's what she said.

        • +4

          Username checks out

    • Not at all!

    • +4

No, you pretty much cannot sleep comfortably with the back of the frame pressing onto the pillow.
I also don’t really recommend it as I personally find my pair of bone conduction headphones makes me very dizzy. I think it’s varies from individual to individual so I recommend testing them out.

There are amazing if you run or cycle though, you can listen to music and podcasts while not losing awareness of your surroundings.

Get something like this for sleeping.

    • +2

unlike others here. I'm going to say… yes.. maybe. back of head? no, but wear it from front of head!

      • Nah you can't, I've had a set of these for some time now and they would not be wearable at all from the front because the way they go over your ears.

        • +2

just resting on head above the above ears. not over the ears

          • @DONMAI: Ahh I see, i hadn't tried it before like this but I've actually put them on like this now as a test and you're right.. they can be placed on your noggin from the front and lay down. It works, but if you move much they slip around… That all said I'd lay down using them like this now, but I swap over to my Bose QC35's for laying down.

      • +1

        i can confirm this works.

      • Not for sleeping or for laying on a chase lounge in the sun, or on the beach lying on a towel. The cable around the back is designed to provide pressure on the bone conduction pads. If you rest your head the pressure is reduced so you lose more bass and volume

    • I can.

    • +1

I fall asleep with these on regularly. I'm a side sleeper, and the bottom side I just unhook from my ear and have it around my neck. The most comfortable "earphones" I've ever used in bed

    • I can with it over the front of my head.

    • everyone has their preferences, but i have been using these while sleeping for more than 3 years. these are very comfortable, atleast to me. Most of time I use it for ASMR videos while laying on bed. but I am surprised that other people who replied have different experience.

    • +1

Counterpoint to the other posters - I sleep with them on every night - I like to go to sleep with a podcast on a sleep timer, but I need to be able to hear my 3 year old if she calls out.

They don't bother me at all - but I never sleep on my back - only on my side. I can see they could be annoying sleeping on your back.

    • +1

Been wearing this like a doctor Stethoscope during sleep for 3 years. Not ideal but it works for both side and back sleeping position.

    • I bought a pair of kokoon earphones.

The app sucks, but when using them as Bluetooth headphones, they’re actually really comfortable.

I got used to them after 3 night, and now I use them every night. Great for side sleepers and I don’t really notice when wearing them anymore.

    • I have had these for around a year now and can sleep with them quite comfortably.

I sleep on my side and my back and I have it configured so that I have one of the 'ear pieces' sitting in the correct location, while the other is sitting on my neck (near the adams apple)

Its a hard thing to describe but it is honestly the most comfortable sleeping arrangement I have found myself in after trying the various other sleeping audio accessories such as headbands and eye masks.

10/10 recommend, if mine broke today, I would go out and buy another pair immedialy.

Irony being posted in Microsoft store. A recent update to MS Teams now creates an insufferable beeping sound while you have the headset on mute. I otherwise swear by these for work (And exercise) but just flagging for people who sit on calls/video conferences all day.

    • +2

Interesting. I bought these for work, and the mic quality was terrible so had to go back to wired. This was MS Teams and across a few different machines, same issue. The beeping issue I didn’t see. You still use them for calls and people say you sound ok?

      • I use the mic for Zoom and Discord calls without issue.

    • +1

Mine work great with an iPhone over teams. For the work laptop to see anything on screen I join the same meeting using the “add this device” option rather than transfer.

    • i had this problem for a few weeks, but that problem gone for a while now.

  • Anyone use this for running?

    • +3

      yes - they work great!

    • +2

My husband does and they work well.

    • +2

Yeah mate, they replaced my in ears for running and cycling whilst maintaining awareness of your surroundings (can hear cars approaching, making it much safer). Also they are waterproof and light.

    • +2

Ideal for running. That and cycling is their target use case

    • great for outdoor excerises, but because it does let outside sound in (that's the whole point of these head phones) you might have to turn them up quite loud.

    • Yep, used a few times. Overall they're quite comfortable while running. The access to controls for music is quite simple too which is good. The quality of sound isn't amazing but I'm more than willing to sacrifice that for a comfortable experience.

  • +1

Didn’t they rename the company Shokz?

    • +1

Still ~recently, MS likely clearing old stock

  • Good for cycling?

    • +3

Yes, they’re originally designed for cyclists

    • Yes. My main use. Highly recommend.
Commuting get to hear cars and other cyclists as well.
MTB get to hear other trail users and more comfortable than in-ear.

      I rate.

    • Also why I bought mine. Very happy.

    • +2

I find them great up to about 25km/hr. Above that speed I find the wind noise interferes.
So fine for music, but tough to hear speech in a podcast.

      • +3

Yea, I agree. It's easy to underestimate just how loud wind can be. In order to be able to hear your music you need to turn up the volume so that it's louder than the wind, and I don't feel comfortable listening to music that loud. Gets even worse if you're commuting and you're surrounded by city sounds.
If you don't mind that, it's an amazing price for these though.

  • Good for croquet?

    • +2

I can do with some croquettes

  • +3

I second all the reviews above.

These are perfect for any type of exercise, especially exercise outside a gym. That's what they were designed for. The downside is the bass - it just doesn't transmit bass well given the design. I still prefer them over any wireless earphones for exercise.

I tried to use these in the office as well and I agree that the microphone is a weak point. If you want to use it for work then consider getting the AfterShokz Opencomm. This fixed the microphone issue. If you have long phone/teams conferences then this is a comfortable solution if you have your own office. I sometimes sit on the floor with the team and if a couple of people are talking it gets distracting due to lack off ear cover (again, this is just the design).

A final point on mutlipoint pairing. It works but not very well. I get lots of calls on the mobile and on teams. The switch between devices is meh. Frequently I'm unable to re-connect to the PC (Win 11) after finishing a call on the mobile. Restarting doesn't help either. I went back to my trusty Plantronics Blackwire C5520 on the PC.

I think I got my Aeropex for $152 last time. Would I buy it again for the price? I guess so but secretly I would always wish I had the OpenComm instead and that multipoint pairing worked wayyy more reliably.

    • I second the bass thing. I use them mainly for audiobooks and use the in-app EQ to take the bass out. Too much bass becomes a low frequency buzzing on the bone

  • I know this is different but probably many would use both for similar use, anyone compared this to Bose frames?

  • I use these for audiobooks while cycling, works really well unless your next to a truck or bus. I've no real objections using these for music and videos either.

  • I’m trying to remember how old this model is. The OpenRunPro is the latest that I can remember. My 3.5 yo Aftershokx Airs started going a bit funny after being crushed in a bag last week so I’m on the lookout for a replacement. Anyone know the difference between this model and the openRunPros?

    • -1

Just bought a pair. Thanks OP.

    • +2

open run pro are almost same to aeropex but waterproofing is not great. I got the openrunpro for full retail price, let me tell you it aint worth it. Get Aeropex save money.

  • Waterproof?

    • These are IP67 (Waterproof) like the OpenRun model at the main website.

    • The manual says you can take a shower with them. I've done this quite a few times without issue.

  • Considering using these for work in the office so I can still hear out for stuff while listening to podcasts. Do many people use these for that? Also considering the linkbuds.

    • +2

Was my go to headset for office work (when I was in it). I normally use them for exercise.

    • +2

Yep, podcasts and audiobooks are what I use them for

      • Thanks guys. Pulled the trigger

  • Good for WWF, WWE, UFC and MMA?

  • +2

Here's my bullet point review. I have these and my son does too. I use them for hours each day.

    The good:
    * comfortable
    * lets in outside sound
    * showerproof
    * good warranty and customer service
    * easy to fit and remove

    The bad:
    * chronic design flaw that the transducer comes loose and rattles. You notice it when handling it, not when wearing. Easily replaced under warranty though
    * audio fidelity - don't use these expecting a great audiophile experience. They are great for podcasts and audiobooks, and for music while exercising or bike riding or just walking around the shops.

They fit my use case so well, I would hate to be without them

  • Definitely good value for $175 with RRP at $219 and I also watched a review and the Pro version is only a slight improvement on bass (mainly noticeable indoor quiet setting) and extra 2 hour battery life at 10 hours from 8.

  • +1

I use these in summer over my Sony XM3s with their big sweaty cups. The low profile Aeropex is great in the heat.

  • +1

Great for phone calls. Don’t have high expectations for the microphone to work great outdoors in windy conditions. These can get so comfortable you can forget that you still have the on.

  • Got one, thx OP.

  • OOS

I'd never heard of these, but you guys did such a great sales job, now I'm shopping around for another deal

    ps grey still available

    • Lol. I’m glad I got my ones last night then. 😀
