15% off Konnected Smart Home Alarm & Free Shipping @ Smart Guys Australia

80

Hi all,

We are running a deal across our entire Konnected range. All Konnected alarm panels, including the popular Konnected PRO boards will be 15% off RRP until 8th May.

We have set our RRP to be lower than the US store. So hopefully it is seen as a good deal, with the added benefits of local warranty, support and faster shipping.

The Konnected Interface Kits can "smarten up" existing dumb alarms or you can replace your old alarm completely with a Konnected Conversion Kit.

Some use cases of making your alarm "smart":

  • Use your hardwired motion sensors to trigger automations, such as turning on lights at night or notifying you of movement/presence in your home.

  • Remotely arm/disarm your alarm, and get notified when it has been triggered via your phone

  • Use smart buttons to arm your alarm, or even your voice

  • Set up automations triggered by your alarm being triggered, such as flashing lights to disorient potential intruders.

Konnected works with Home Assistant, Hubitat and Samsung/Aeotec SmartThings. A hub is not required and the boards will work directly with an app.

What is the difference between the Pro Kits and Starter Kits?

  • PoE and ethernet is the biggest difference. The other difference to consider is that each Pro board has 12 zones, whereas each Starter kit board only has 6 zones. Of course, you can expand and add as many boards as you want, but some may prefer to just have 1 board with 12 zones versus two with 6 each.

  • The pro board also has an ESP32 chip on board, which is a bit more powerful than the ESP8266 chip on the starter boards.

Further information is available in the product on our website (https://smartguys.com.au/our-brands/konnected)

Please let us know if you have any questions and happy automating!

Regards,
The team @SmartGuys

  • Price in title please.

I have a hills R8 alarm, is it easy to connect with this unit?

Does it come with an AU plug too?

PS: I'm planning to connect it with hubitat

    • Yes it will interface with an R8 - but be aware if you use zone doubling, it can only work on one of the two zones connected to that specific zone (hope that made sense). The R8 only has physical terminals for 4 zones, but uses zone doubling to allow up to 8.

Installation is pretty straightforward, mine came with a pigtail cable for power, which I piggybacked off the 12V terminals in the alarm.

Note: I ordered my units direct from the US - these work out cheaper and will come quicker too.

      • Thanks for your reply

Hm… I use "partial alarm" when I'm at home to secure the doors, windows separately when I'm really away (which will fully alarmed the whole house)

Is that classified as a dual zone?

I wonder if I outsource the installation, would it be an expensive thing to do (I'm in Melbourne)

        • Partial alarm isn't anything to do with zones :)

Sorry - forgot to point out - that the zone doubling is only an issue if you want the keep the R8 in parallel with Konnected. (Which is what I do).

Easy way to know (without opening the cabinet) is how many zones do you have? If > 4 - then you're using zone doubling. There are some really good youtube videos on how to install - I don't know that you need to pay someone.

I have it in parallel as I basically use the Konnected to trigger home automations. eg garage door open = turn garage lights on.

          • @psmedley: Thanks, I just checked my alarm cabinet, it has 4 zones (here).
Interesting enough, I can see 8 LED on the code pad.

Does it mean I have 8 zones?

And yes, I'm planning to get the interface kit too; to make sure the main unit still functioning too

            Thank you

            • @BigLeviathan: @BigLeviathan can you take a photo showing the 4x zone terminals? My house has 5 zones in use, with 6 & 7 not used, and 8 being the tamper switch on the exterior alarm box. How many zones labelled on the code pad?

              • @psmedley: Thanks for your reply.

If you look at the electrical diagram I took before; the 4 zones can be found on the bottom left hand side (underneath the Code Pad ports - data, com, pos).

After looking at the electrical diagram closer, on the top right hand side corner, I can see the 'zone double' section, and at the right bottom, I can see that it accepts 2 type of resistors to assign zone 1-4 and 5-8

On the code pad, I can see 8 LEDs (here) too

                • @BigLeviathan: Sorry, I'm obviously not being clear. I know the R8 has 4x zone terminals and can have up to 8x zones with zone doubling. My question is how many zones are you currently using. The Zone doubled zones won't work with Konnected.

                  • @psmedley: Thanks for your reply so far! appreciate it!
What's the easiest way to know how many zones I am using?

When I look at the code pad, all of the 8 LEDs are lit up (when movements detected/door ajar); I suspect I have been using 8 zones?

                    • @BigLeviathan: Sounds that way. On my keypad, the names of the zones are written on the back of the flap that covers the keypad.

If you are using the 8 zones, you'd only be able to use 4 of them with the Konnected Interface kit. I tried to google for a help page on this, but that information may have come from konnected support.

                      Here's a forum post:

Can you be more specific about which product your selling that is for a house with no existing alarm? Hopefully I've not read your post wrong.

    • +2

This is to make an existing alarm "smart", by interfacing with or replacing the existing control panel. It does not come with motion sensors, siren, wiring, etc
