      It's 120 Hz

Spend $50 and plug a chromecast in and you have an android TV.

  • Worth it?

    • +31

Only if you remember to use your $10 voucher.

    • If it adds to your decor - yes. Be aware Samsung TV menus have advertisements

    • +1

      Not really.
      Very average HDR peak brightness.
The Terrace on the other hand is blinding.

  • +2

New model 2022 is better for a little more

    • +11

+1 to spending a bit more for the latest model. The matte coating on the new TV is worth spending that little bit more, especially if you get any direct sunlight on the TV

      • Got it from the EPP store which has a bit of discount

        • how much is the 2022 model on the EPP store?

          • +1

@bigballerbrand: $2209 on the Gov EPP for the 65" 2022 model, likely cheaper with other EPPs but still way more than $1495

            • +5

@brosk1s: Not sure why congo and blankie both said spending "a little more" for the 2022 mode.. $800 on $2,200 is more than 30% more. Weird

              • @bigballerbrand: they're telling you from the future

              • @bigballerbrand: I
Would like to save a little more, like that!

              • @bigballerbrand: Wait for the sale on EPP, around 20-30% off.
EPP have great prices during their sale/promos.

              • @bigballerbrand: To calculate a percentage increase, you divide the increase by the original number. So going from $1500 to $2200 is actually ~50% increase (700 divide 2200).

          • @bigballerbrand: $1429 for the 2022 model on the Samsung employee EPP store

    • +3

where do you find it "a little more"?

    • Refer to Serif 2022 model, rrp will be 2300+. Not worth for the matte finish screen. Or if you can wait until Xmas

      • Frame 2022 is similar pricing

    • Heaps better

  • +1

Good Nintendo switch tv? How well does this upscale low res?

    • Most modern TVs generally do a great job of upscaling, I guess due to a bunch more processing power than before.

  • +9

I will wait for 2023 better version

    • +1

Yeah, waiting for new model and clearance discounts

    • +3

I will wait for 2024 betterer version

      • +3

I will wait for the 2024 to go on clearance

        • +4

The 2025 model is going to be even better…

          • @pmb: It really wasn't.

my quick review: bought the 2021 model last year for $1600 during eofy sales. Amazing quality overall. I'm using with switch / ps5 / xbox series x and the quality is phenomenal. the poster feature (displaying photos and paintings) is quite nice to be frank. the only downside is the miserable samsung tv software. always buggy and not very smart.
I highly recommend it, quality is overall impressive

    • +1

The software is not as good as Sony IMO which I have also used but it's fine

      • +2

But Sony will screw you every time with warranty

    • +2

I second the issue of bugs and also inflexibility too. Art mode allows collages of up to 3 pictures at a time on the tv, but the only way to create them is with the Samsung smart things app, which works approximately 15% of the time. You can add photos via usb too, but there’s no utility to make collage pictures within the tv which is simply ridiculous.
What’s more, the smart things tv remote feature barely, and I emphasise BARELY works, any of the time.

Also be careful during installation, there’s no protective plastic over the screen unlike the more expensive models, I managed to scratch the screen about 0.5mm with my watch buckle while wall mounting and there’s been a tiny white speck visible in dark scenes in that spot ever since.

Other than that it’s a great tv in my experience. One can only hope they add local dimming with the next version though, especially since that’s not their most premium tech anymore with QD-OLED and Mini LED

      • Is the slide show function works ok now? I remember so how many people were shocked after purchase only to find out that the first few generations not able to do such basic function

        • Works for the most part from experience, used to get stuck on certain photos but seems to have had that sorted with an update.
My main concern is for when Samsung inevitably makes the app EOL and then being SOL when it comes to adding collages

      • That's (the lack of local dimming) what hesitates me to pull the trigger. Would it be easily noticeable difference as compared to TV of similar class but with local dimming?

        • +2

Honestly it’s still pretty great image quality day to day, but if you want the cinema experience and watch with the blinds down and lights off you’ll see it’s slightly washed out. The panel has pretty good native contrast at least so that definitely helps.

        • +2

Faced the same dilemma when I went to purchase my last TV. I ended up getting a hisense q8 after checking them both out in store, the q8 picture was just overall better and the TV was cheaper which was a nice bonus.

    • -8

Sorry mate, if you think a TV without OLED or FALD looks amazing, you haven't seen an amazing TV

      • Yeah, wth OzBargain? There in no way in hell this TV has a picture that qualifies as 'amazing' or 'phenomenal'. This picture will be either average or a bit shit.

    • Use a fire stick

    • I actually cared very little about the picture quality or the art feature.
Anything was better than my 8yo LCD, the best thing about it is how easy it mounts!
This has to be the easiest mounting system and the TV sits on the wall with almost no gap.
I still have googleTV plugged it, I never use the Samsung GUI.

      • +1

        I prefer a little gap

    • "the poster feature (displaying photos and paintings) is quite nice to be frank. the only downside is the miserable samsung tv software. always buggy and not very smart.
I highly recommend it, quality is overall impressive"

I'm considering this TV because of the software for picture mode. Are you saying the picture mode software is nice, but the rest is crappy?

    • We have the Serif and can confirm the picture quality is darn good, I think the frame and the serif are similar in picture quality. We bought the serif after seeing the frame at our neighbours. The serif just looked better in our space but the frame looks great in the right setting. Frame is probably the better looking TV overall, it's just the in our room a wall mount wouldn't have looked as good as a standup TV

    • How's your experience watching sports?

  • The UI on this model is slow AF and the art mode doesn't work too well. 2022 model is better

    • What is the major difference

      • +16

The UI on this model is slow AF and the art mode doesn't work too well.

        • +4

… and the 2022 model is better.

        • +1

The UI is not slow, the art mode works well if you use an external usb. The mobile app is slow and buggy af

        • Well, if you had samsung TV especially the frame then you’d never trust Samsung software ever again, and would naturally want to ask: works well how, yeh the elaboration is essential with Samsung

    • Dunno what's wrong with yours. I have the 2021 model and the UI is very responsive and smooth and art mode works perfectly fine.

  • +2

Got the 75 inch and I'm very happy with it. Paid close to half the price of the 2022 so no complaints here.

  • +2

    1349 on the corporate portal.

  • +3

Very good price for the TV

I got one last Dec for $1849 including mount installation.

I used it mainly for PS5 gaming and the gaming experience is fantastic. The only thing annoyed me is that if I leave PS5 go into sleep itself and come back, I will get a signal not found screen and I need to reboot the TV to get it to work again. I think maybe this can be solved by a software update.

It's not comparable to OLED quality when watching Netflix but it works fine for myself because I only compared watching them in the showroom.

The gallery mode works fine during the day but it looks fake when dark. I expect it can dim itself when there is no light in the room but maybe I expect too much for it.

Overall I highly recommend this one at this price. It's a no brainer to me.

    • +1

Update your software, if doesnt work claim warranty. Xbox series S works like charm, has a minor with gaming mode on and off blinking randomly when loading a game. But mostly it is solid

  • +2

Remember this tv requires an external cable for wall mounting (not in wall rated), and no matter how much people spin that its opaque, for mine it's a massive downside for a new wall mounted TV.

    • That was quite an oversight by Samsung to not include an in wall rated cable.

I also noticed that the refresh rate on the smaller models is not as fast as the larger ones like this one.

    • Yes it’s a downside, but it’s still a hell of a lot better than having the ports on the back of the tv and needing a large conduit installed to feed the mess of cables down.

Agreed that the cable is more noticeable than people claim though.

    • Mine’s in wall and works fine

    • +2

I didn't know that not all tv cables can be run being the wall (in through a hole at the top and out through another hole at the bottom). I suspect that what in wall rated is?

    • sorry for the stupid question, can you explain what this means?

    • +1

Stick one of these in your wall then it’s compliant. $58 from Bunnings:

      https://www.bunnings.com.au/cableclear-50mm-wall-cavity-cabl…

Their in-wall cables are $200+ which is outrageous.

  • +8

The best thing about this TV is the breakout box. The TV is mounted flat on the wall like a picture frame and all your connections (including power) are in a little box connected by a single wire to the TV. I've ran this cable behind the wall so you can't see it.

    • Except for the 32” model where the TV cable still goes to the TV. It’s a slightly smaller one connect box. Also remember the smallest model is not 4K and only full HD.

      • 32" is expensive as well compare to 43"

  • +1

Any idea on total cost to mount this inc bracket plus wiring? Do people use air tasker? Never mounted a tv before

    • +2

I paid 120 to get my 75" wall mounted, that's on the cheap side, someome else quoted me 250.

  • +1

There's a huge difference between 2021 ans 2022 models. The 2022 has antiglare and it looks way better. If you looking into this TV to maximise the painting option definitely go the 2022 model with anti-glare.
