I hope Virgin Atlantic will counter Qantas with a similar deal. I just flew with Qantas to HK when they did the $799 sale earlier this year and I swear I will never fly Qantas again…

    • why?

I'd assume bad passenger service and arrogant cabin crew.. At least that was what I had been getting until 2 years ago. Didnt want to fly another Qantas since then. Maybe they've changed now?

Poor service, poor food and arrogant attitude is why I've also chosen to fly QF as little as possible.

Firstly, I didn't realised the $30 credit card charge until the very last step where I had to pay, then found out straight away that VA promoted the same price the next morning but without the CC charge. Secondly, for an international flight flying with a non-bidget airline, I assume you can chose your seat when you book. Nope. But I am sure VA can.

On the day that I fly, QF sms me at 7:30am telling me that my flight was cancelled and asked me to call. Why they couldn't call me instead is beyond me but imagine I didn't get the sms and ended up at the airport. Then I was jammed into a flight that they detoured from Melb and lost my window seat, which i had to race online to book the minute online check in was open. But at least I wasn't flying from Melb or else I had just paid for a direct flight which turned into an indirect one.

Service was surprising pretty good though, besides a few odd occasion where the air hostess was too busy chatting with a certain passenger and ignored the whole plane. Oh, and yes, food was crap but I don't remember ever looking forward to dine on board anyway, no matter which airline I am flying with.

  • I really really wish Jetstar would have a flight from Syd -> HK!!!

    • They will next year

      • How about syd to SH?they only fly to BEijing

      • That is for the separate Jetstar Hong Kong airline. They are not planning to fly direct to HKG from Australia.

You can already reach HKG with Jetstar, but you need to fly via SIN.

Isn't that like wishing Tiger flew from SYD-LHR?

  • Can by pass the cc fee with a voucher

    • You will be bypassing your travel insurance too……by not paying by credit card with one.

  • The sale is ex all major airports, not just Sydney. I bought tickets Brisbane-LA and cancelled an existing FF booking. The sale price to LA was about $1350 with credit card and seat charges. The taxes ALONE on the FF booking were $800 per px. No contest!!

  • Use www.zuji.com.au to avoid the Qantas CC fees (and most other major airlines).
