This tablet supports Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD, but since it's never received an official Global ROM like its predecessors it may have an unlocked bootloader with a translated ROM. If so you can follow this guide to install the stock CN ROM and lock the bootloader to restore Widevine L1 DRM. To make the preinstalled Netflix work on this tablet, please follow these simple instructions upon first setup.

oh ffs … another one just to confuse us even more? LOL

    • +6

You're lucky I'm not sharing the Lenovo P11 Plus with Qualcomm and the Lenovo P11 Plus with MediaTek - that's confusing!

However out of the 3 the P11 with the SD662 is your budget tablet, the Xiaoxin Pad Pro with SD730G is your mid-range and this one is a bumped up Xiaoxin Pad Pro with higher end specs.

        Tomorrow's Task List …

        1) Ask myself .. do I really want a tablet now or do i wait…
        2) Compare this vs Mi Pad 5 vs anymore that you bring out overnight (that VIVO pad looks nice too)
        3) Tell myself .. don't get confused by them all
        4) Go back to Step 1

      • wouldnt mind a smaller one for reading books etc.

        • +2

Besides the expensive Lenovo Lgeion Y700 everything under 10" seems to have 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and bad CPUs sadly. I really wish some brands would pump out a nice 4GB/64GB or better model.

          • @Clear: Isn't 3GB plenty for reading books etc?

My Chuwi Hi9 Pro certainly is. So much so that I bought a second one after dropping the first. Used every day, lightening fast, and rarely misses a beat.

            • @jackspratt: My mom use a 6 year old 2gb Samsung tablet, it’s not bad, but os is old as well. So takes less space. 4 gb is just for future proofing. You can open larger pdfs with ease and chrome does not close your pdf just because you opened a new tab ;)

        • I'm not sure if you've already looked in to this but I did the same, and it lasted about 3 books before my eyes started to hurt… I moved to an ereader with an eink screen and never looked back! They're awesome!

          • +1

@lachhelix: mainly want to read tech books, not sure they format right on an ereader..

  • +1

This is the only Lenovo tablet to get.

  • +2

Amazing tablet, well worth its price!

  • Seems like great specs - tell me I don't need one please

    • +5

You don't need one, you just want it lol.

      • +1

I agree, you should buy one, trust me it'll be so good and you neeeed it!

    • +1

tell me I don't need one please

This is ozbargain. Buy first. Find uses for it later.

  • How long before these become a paper weight? Not really familiar with the Android environment and I know these don't really get software updates.

    • It does not have a global rom to begin with if Iam correct. Not sure how that affects. Very nice tab for the price though.

    • -1

Lack of updates doesn't really make it a paperweight though. But saying that, if you own an android phone, an android tablet is exactly the same experience except with a bigger scree.

So if you want a tablet get an iPad, if you want phone with a bigger screen without the 4g, get an android.

      • +2

iPad is also an iPhone with a bigger screen?

        • -2

Much less so than android. The iPad is in another league of its own.

          • +2

@anonywhy: I use my iPad more than the android tablet, and I dont find it anything special. The iPadOS is still pretty basic compared to macos. But I prefer using the iPad because of the screen ratio.

            • @John Doh: depends on the apps. iPad OS has much better support for some of the apps in regards to UI/Interface, they scale up better than some android apps which usually feel like the phone version just stretched to be made bigger. Apple puts more care into the apps I think

      • +1

I have the same problem with an iPad mini retina. The iPad works fine apart from the fact I can't install iOS 13 so can't update/install some apps.

  • Bought cheers op

  • +2

If anyone wondering, very little development over at XDA for this.

There's an unofficial TWRP but half the posts in that thread are asking how to unbrick their tablet.

And in case I have fallen victim to the confusing name scape for this device, I'm talking about the TB-j716f

  • Approximately how long is delivery to Perth? I don't suppose it will arrive within a week?

    • Most items reach Brisbane in 18 to 25 days approx

  • If only it had 8/256GB, SD Slot and 4G. I'd pay another $200 more for it.

    • Lenovo p12 Pro?

      • Not for more than double the price! lol.

    • It does have a micro sd slot according to the description

  • I'm looking for a new tab and can't decide between this, the s7 which is around $700 or the s7 plus which is $900.

From.what I've read about this tablet having issues with HD playback of netflix and Amazon Prime I am thinking that the s7 is the way to go but now I've read that it doesn't have an Amoled screen. The s7 Pk looks awesome but not sure if the larger form factor and Amoked screen is worth the extra.

    Hmm….

    • Depends on where you purchase from. I got mine from here - https://www.giztop.com/lenovo-xiaoxin-pad-pro-2021.html

Chinese ROM, Netflix works well. just have to sideload the play Store and install a launcher.

Price has crept up a bit, they were $299USD not too long ago…..

      • Thanks! Some are saying that after an OTA update it loses Wideline L1 and so reverts back to low resolution for streaming apps.

        • I'm on OTA 13.1.551 ST From March 22 and have Widevine L1 in Netflix so no problems here.

Loss of resolution in Android historically comes from rooting and DRM Issues. Sony in particular was notorious.

My only regret now is not getting the 5g version. Since getting this I've stopped using my Surface Go Pro LTE.

  • +1

    Good for Hearthstone?

    • Good for minesweeper as well

  • +1

Have purchased one in previous deal, amazing tablet with high end specs. The l1 widevine was easily resolved by locking the bootloader, flashing cn rom and then sideload google play store. Every streaming service is full hd and gaming is a blast.

Use the xda guides to relock and flash.

    • Ah so it did have an unlocked bootloader? I wasn't sure hence why I added the instructions.

    • So will the CN rom support English and Aus as country? Also generally speaking, how does global rom differ from CN rom? Thanks.

      • +1

Just a heads up I have this device and whilst reflashing with the CN rom and re-locking the bootloader worked initially to give L1, after some OTA updates i'm now on L3. Have tried unlocking and relocking the bootloader to no avail.

So just a warning. If you don't use Netflix/Amazon then this is a wonderful and fast device.

    • What are you playing?

  • -4

but my phone has better specs

    • +2

      And?

    • +3

      Your phone is $2000 though

  • Can this be hooked up to a docking station (2 monitors, keyboard and mouse) via USB C?
I'm looking to replace my broken X1

    • Yes you can extend to display. Just tried it with my usb c dock and to hdmi display. Unfortunately don't have a second display to test for you.

  • whats limited vs standard

    • Price

      • yes its $2

thats why im trying to work it out

  • +1

I have this tablet purchased off of Giztop, what I can say is the screen does well in bright vibrant games but is utter dogshit in low light and blacks. You would NEVER try to watch a batman movie on this because all you would see are black squares with 0 detail.

I can offer photos if required, no BS fantastic tablet for everything bar dark videos and movies.

    • +1

      Username checks out!

    • -1

      yeah link some images.. cheers

    • makes no sense, this is an OLED panel. blacks should be perfect

    • I have heard in some reviews that the AMOLED is a pentile panel which can lead to some fuzziness with text, but this was the same with all of the old Sammy phones and I never had an issue.

Never heard of the crushed blacks though.

      • Thanks for that!

Now need to decide Tab S7 vs S7 plus…only reason to go for the plus is the amoled screen.
On one hand every samsung device I've had has been amoled and I can't really imagine using one without the colour pop and deep blacks… but on the other hand is that worth $200-250 more?

  • How long does this aliexpress seller take to ship ?

    • Depends on which slow boat from china couriers they use but expect least 4 weeks

      • Sometimes they ship from Singapore. I get items sometimes in 3 weeks. But yeah 4 weeks is a good estimate.

      • Yup wasn't asking how long shipping takes, was asking how long aliexpress seller takes to actually dispatch to the courier service in my case it's coming via dhl so know how long that takes.

Bought 1000s items through aliexpress, all sellers different, so anyone had any experience with this specific seller?

  • -1

Can I use this for pron?

Also got yoga carbon but may sell it and.keep this

  • What do you think about following two reviews left by two buyers

Bundle: Standard Color: 6GB 128GB Silver Logistics: AliExpress Standard Shipping

Bundle: Standard Color: 6GB 128GB Silver Logistics: AliExpress Standard Shipping
Great seller, Very well packed, I wish if it came with CN Rom but i already flashed it with CN ROM and Locked the boot loader. Now It is Widevine L1 and Amazon prime is in HD,,, Thank you 01 Mar 2022 12:10

    • To be expected. There's instructions in my deal to reflash.

  • Thanks, However I was unable to find the right from to flash using the link avaiable in the deal?

closes I can find is https://firmwarefile.com/lenovo-xiaoxin-pad-plus-tb-j607z

  • As I expected memall making excuses your address incorrect suggest you cancel order cannot ship for 2 weeks.. what a complete waste of time.

  • I ended up going with the Galaxy Tab S7 which I found at office works for $650. Not much stock but I found a few on the Gold Coast.
Happy with the known brand and commodity with local warranty too.

  • And seller cancelled order still waiting on refund AVOID memall aliexpress at all costs

  • ….

  • It took me 8 hours, 2 computers, soft bricked it twice, but 5 flashes and 4 manual updates later. I finally got it at latest 13.1 version and L1. PM if you get stuck working on it, happy to help.

If you are not confident with flashing ROMs and want L1, please don't buy this device and get a Samsung instead.

Another thing worth noting, I didn't understand the claims that the screen is bad with blacks (it's an OLED??), but now I get it. If you keep the brightness of the screen above 50%.,The screen looks AMAZING (even in dark scenes/blacks). But once you go under 50% the screen uniformity is utter trash and it really stands out with anything grey (#000000 looks awesome, #010101 looks like a crime against humanity). Basically if you never use the tablet at night, you will never see it, but the second you try to use it in complete darkness, it will look like this

    • I can just see a red cross in your pic?

      Doesn't look real

      • Not quite sure what you are referring to (the xda link?)
Anyway, here is a picture of my tablet in complete darkness
        https://ibb.co/1vtWwQP

        • Thanks mate maybe I need an XDA account to view the first image you posted

I was thinking to purchase one of these for watching videos or for presentations
