The problem is with random dropouts using it as an AirPlay speaker.
It’s all over the internet and you have to either a) toggle volume up and down every x seconds, or b) purchase someone’s app for a few bucks that does this
You could use it as a Bluetooth speaker but then it’s waaaay more lossy compared to AirPlay.

I have this problem with Sonos One. Have a look into STP settings for your router, especially if you use Unifi gear.

Bought one at launch. Its maybe 10% better for music than the base amazon echo 3 that i got on special for $10. In terms of smart features, its terrible. Amazon destroys it. So asking it questions, crap. I moved from apple music to spotify. Again, this thing doesnt work with spotify. So i cant recommend at all. I ended up getting an echo studio boxing day for $179, and its just in a different universe to this thing.
Amazon and apple both have great returns. Please try both.

Been thinking about selling the OG and switching to a Mini. How much worse is it and did they improve the reliability of it working at all?
Feels like I have a 70-80% success rate Siri works at all and I don't mean with queries, just turning on or acknowledging words were said.
Have both. If you enjoy good quality sound the mini is not one to go for. It is just for background music just for noise in comparison to the OG.
Siri is the same on both.
