Some Chinese manufacturers really offering so much for so little in terms of phones.

  • Good deal OP.. I am a fan of Xiaomi phones. I like ear jack and IR blaster they offer on most of their phones.

Virtual proximity sensing- that puts me off. Heard people complaining about it on forums and blogs.

    • From my Poco F3, the virtual proximity sensing is useless. My one fault with this phone.

      • Really thought it was my case!!!

    • Didn't even know what it was. Just tested it out on mine. Seems to accurately switch screen on and off once it's within around 5cm of ear (or hand).

      • I and my father who both have Poco f3's, both constantly accidentally mute calls with our ears (or when the phone is in my pocket with headphones) due to the proximity sensing not working accurately. Maybe they have improved it, but I don't think it can be or they would have through updates.

        • Sounds annoying. Doubt I will have an issue even if it doesn't function as I don't put the screen against my ear at all, just a corner of the case.

Not sure I am understanding the issue in your pocket - wouldn't your phone be locked in your pocket anyway? Or you are saying you rely on the proximity sensor to lock the screen when you put it in your pocket?

          • @iamherenow: If you are on a call over Bluetooth, the phone typically isn't locked automatically, so the screen ends up active

  • I believe 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates. Released Nov 21.

    Mediatek processor are terrible

    • +2

That's no longer true. Look at the side-by-side comparison of the MediaTek and Snapdragon versions of this phone on Youtube, there's virtually no difference.

The only downside of Mediatek phones is that there are no custom roms.

I am talking about processor performance degrade over the time after one year. Better chose snapdragon processor.

        • That happens with all processors. It is a limitation of silicon technology not a Mediatek fabrication fault.

          • @illogicalerror: I have only face this issue with Mediatek processor.

            • @zaki89: A quick internet search will teach you about how and why it happens mate.

Not saying you didn't have a shit chipset, there are always lemons, but just that it's not exclusive to any chip maker.

A quick search on the internet will also lead you to people who only buy Dell as HP is crap and others who only buy HP as Dell is crap. You don't have to be a sleuth to figure out who got the lemons from each manufacturer. Just one bad product experience (even if it is from an exceptional line of products) will cause consumers to forever hate that brand and attribute inherent faults to anything they have ever made or ever will make. Consumer psychology stuff.

        • SD not at that price range

        Also no gcam.

  • Bought, thanks

  • ordered this on Saturday… still not sent and no one can say when it will be?

  • Hi would this compare the the POCO F3? Major downgrade or not much different?

  • Still hasn't been shipped from UK yet. I received stuff from AliExpress for the phone a week ago :(

    • Amazon UK support reckons the orders are in their 'final stages of dispatch' and email updates will be sent soon.

Obviously they were not actually in stock and had to wait for China delivery.
