Received an email with this $200 off promotion. Not sure how this compares to other 27" flat screen gaming monitors. According to RTINGS: "It delivers an excellent gaming experience with low input lag, a fast response time, and support for both NVIDIA and FreeSync Premium Pro variable refresh rate technology. Unfortunately, it has disappointing reflection handling, and like most IPS monitors, it's not a great choice for a dark room, as it has low contrast and poor black uniformity. It also has a local dimming feature, but it doesn't do much to improve the picture quality."

Best things: 4K @144hz and able to do so with HDMI 2.1. Not many monitors can do that.

Unfortunately no USBc upstream with power which one should expect for the price. Heck I would want Thunderbolt if paying $1200 dollars on a 27 inch.

On the other hand the LG Ultrafine with Thunderbolt is almost 2 grand but then again it is 5K. 75% more pixels.

Unfortunately only 27", should be 32" min for 4k.

    • Why?

Because at 27" you barely notice it.

      • Having a larger display area e.g. 32" or more will really make a 4k monitor shine, filling your peripheral vision. Yes I understand pixel density, but it would be barely noticeable on a 27". Just stick to 1440p at this size and save your pennies…

Ahh what a mess of a question!

Visual acuity limits (person with 20/20 vision) for 27" 4k is 53cm or so, and at 27" viewing distance is about 70-100cm vesa recommended.

QHD at 27" visual acuity is about 83cm. Technically, if you sit a tad closer, 4k will give you a slightly sharper image, if you have great eyesight.

The other side of the coin! Scaling!! Native 4k, all UI elements are FAR too small. You need to run at 125% or commonly 150%. 150% gives you the exact same screen realestate as QHD. Scaling today is also still a bit hit and miss, especially if you're running it on a dock/laptop where you swap scaling sizes…really, it's a pain!

        I've got 4k 27", and I'm going back to QHD I think.

No real point going for this when you can get the almost identical M28U for $300 less

    • Depends. This one has better brightness, HDR 600, a bit more settings for gaming and especially full-bandwidth 48Gps HDMI 2.1 (Yes PS5 users like it). Probably worth the extra for some, not me tho.

  • Don't even have a speaker
