      "Digital Console"
      RENT RENT RENT!

      • Sorry, I am new to PS5. What does it mean?

        • +6

A digital console is a coupon to download a PS5.

          • @JelIyfish: I thought its a digital personality called PS5 (version 5) that helps you through difficult time

  • +11

Wait for disc version at $50 more, will likely drop today

    • +1

Yeah, I wouldn't buy it either… but these things normally last all of 15 minutes

      • +4

Yeah, I wouldn't buy it either… but these things normally last all of 15 minutes

That isn't a reason to buy it.

        • Usually last less than 5 minutes

        • +1

is when you see what they sell for.

          • @pharkurnell:

is when you see what they sell for.

That's only relevant if you plan on reselling it. If not, it means nothing and you should only buy it if you actually want it.

            • @PainToad: majority are reselling them.. theres stupid profit in em.

theres people on here buying 8+ at a time and bragging about it.

        • +2

I mean this entire website is basically predicated on FOMO exploitation, so it's as good a reason as any 🤷‍♂️

          • -2

@sob baget: I use this website to find good prices for things I need/want, not just to buy shit because of FOMO.

    • But the disc version is $150 more, not $50.

Plus revamped ps plus is releasing next month.

BTW, I only have a disc version.

      • +1

The disc is $749, this bundle was $698

    • Drop in price or become available?
Bigw had the disc version available yesterday so it's likely they have no more stock.

      • Last drop they released a non bundle after the bundle sold out.

  • I got one already!

  • Min 8 still available.

  • OzBargained.

  • can still see it

    • +1

      can see but cant touch

  • +2

    HODL

  • Ooft

  • got one! thanks!

  • got 1 :D

  • I will see after how many minutes, it will run out.

  • Anyone having issue to find buy button, use different browser, working on Chrome but not on Edge.

  • Enjoy your $100 dollar games ;)

    • +1

      $50 if game sharing ;)

      • $35 to game share physical games though.

        • +1

Not quite as good as digital game sharing though unless I've missed something and you can both play the game at the same time?

Both have their pros and cons no doubt, but game sharing digitally wins out for mine.

          • @MBix: no not exactly the same, but if it isn't a multiplayer game and and you don't mind waiting for them to finish with it, $15 is $15 lol

            • +1

@ONEMariachi: I mean on the flip side of that, hot new single player game, both wanting to play at the same time? Can't happen with physical. What if your game share buddy is in Melb and you're in Perth? Obviously in your case you can share the physical copy with even more than 1 person eventually too.

As I said, pros and cons for both. In my case, I have a disc edition PS5, but majority of my games are still digital.

              • +1

@MBix: Yeah i feel ya, and you make a great point. I do both to be honest haha. Game share with a mate, but also buy physical when I don't have a need to play at the same time, and then yeah several of us can do the rounds on a game. I like the choice- though ps gamepass may change that, cos i genuinely haven't bought a single game on my series x yet.

    • +1

If they can afford it, that’s their business.

  • +2

More expensive than the same bundle that was at EB yesterday. Where’s the cries of outrage for Big W ripping people off?

    • +1

      Rage
      Big W ripping people off
      /Rage

    • lmao yeah that's true. Big W are also selling them in bundles to increase profit but EB sucks I guess

      • No EB are great.. Really. Please keep those consoles coming in. Just remember, I love buying from EB. Did I mention they're a great company? Great staff too - even the those 18 year old douche bags that work there.

        Keep the good work up.

        • EB Games is the best company in Australia.
          There is no disputing this.

          • -2

            @cook99: Great comeback.

I've not laughed so hard all year.

I'll see you all in 30 days time when their next batch are released.

In the mean time, happy scalping!

            • +4

              @JeBs: Dude I'm on your side…

      • +9

Funny that you're calling EB Games staff an 18 years old loser when you're a self confessed scalper which in my book is one of the lowest ones in terms of loser's way of making money.

          • +3

@JeBs: To me you sound just like a sore scalper being prevented to make quick bucks

            • -2

@djmm: LOL. You have no clue how many I've bought from EB..

              EB are great!

              • -1

@JeBs: I think we broke them.

              • +1

@JeBs: I don't know man, you still sound so butthurt from losing 2 orders… Slow days?

                • -2

@djmm: Actually I lost one order, but gained 20!

Like I said, thank you EB!

      • +1

You need a hug my friend.

        • -4

No thanks. I prefer buying twenty PS5s at a time from EB.

          Might go for 50 next.

          But all the best.

      • I and many others would thank their jealousy for giving others a fair go

        • They need to clarify their terms and conditions on these limited stock items. That would be giving everyone a fair go.

          Too late now.

I'll have the next 20 at least.

Like I said above - EB are great!

  • +1

Just followed the OzB policy - buy first think later and bought one. Now I have 2nd thoughts as it's a digital console. Is it worth?

    • +5

If you enjoy overpaying for games then it's a great buy!

      • I'm a big fan of not being able to borrow my friends' games, sounds like this is the correct console for me!

    • No, disc is superior because you can sell games or refund it, also sharing disc games are a thing. Sure disc console is like ~$100 more expensive or so but that's roughly the price of buying 1 game alone digitally.

Only opt for digital if you're not wanting to hassle with all the second hand market stuff.

    • -1

What policy would that be? Buy now, resell later?

That's all I learnt from here.

Oh, and thanks again EB - you've been a great motivator!

  • 30 minutes later and it's still up… scalpers are finally going out of business.

    • +7

Nah, just no one wants digital and its a bundle.

      • Just because they they don't want to be trapped in the Sony walled garden with no way to buy imported, bargain or second hand games… sheesh.

        No pleasing some people hey.

  • +9

    Lol Digital.

  • still in stock no more buyers lul

  • +2

So many concerned citizens always commenting about digital consoles. I’m sure people are fully aware of what they are buying and how they accumulate games on the console.

Just because a digital console doesn’t meet your needs didn’t mean it’s not suitable for others.

    • Well said mate!

    • +1

This. I'm sick of the childish hate here for anything digital.

People can buy whatever suits them. I love digital only.

The joke will be on them soon, physical media options won't be around forever.

      • -1

Playstation consoles have always been about a disc.

Anything else is just a cop out imo.

        • +2

You think Sony is gonna produce disks forever?

          Technology changes.

          • +1

@scuderiarmani: Exactly. Sony has kept this dated technology couple years longer than it should last. The launch of the new PS plus conforms that they are now finally going to follow the mainsteam tech trends, or they will simply lose market share further.

            • @lrq663611: Eh? Digital is mainly mainstream for pc and a few handhelds. Sales numbers show us the people still prefer access to physical media for consoles. If sony really want people to switch over to digital, they are going to have to bring down these $100+ pricetags for digital games and move closer to steam prices.
With steam you can still resell your games too making most digital setups on consoles dated to begin with.
If they could get digital done right that would be amazing since swapping cds is annoying.

              • @[Deactivated]: Going digital is not only mainstream for pc and handhelds, but also everything else, as long as it involves intellectual property, such as music albums, movies, software, contracts. Since DISCs are more profitable, Sony didn't want to switch to digital, but they have to because more and more people are feeling the pain in swapping DISCs and their competitors have switched to digital a while back.

  • +4

Digital consoles are great for me. We buy everything on the PS store. 4 Playstations in total and only buy 2 copies.
Also, most games the kids like, warzone, fortnight, apex are all free downloads. The new PS online is going to include more and more digital copies.

Not sure why they get such a hard time

    • -1

Watch, these same people will be buying digital consoles next month.

    • If you borrow 1 AAA game from a friend in the entire lifetime of the console then the small price difference has been made up and there is literally no other benefit. Can't do that with the digital version

    • Each to their own. Physical seems to have better bargains especially when on clearance so I like having a disc but with the new PS+ tiers I can see digital becoming a bit more popular.

    • -1

And pathetic negs on your comment.

      Weird people.

  • Lol obligatory digital hate comments incoming.

    • +2

I'm seeing more comments from you spammed on this thread and people justifying digital than these 'hate' comments you speak of, lol.
Until there is a way to sell your unused digital games, similar to how you can with steam keys, disk is just better cost-wise..especially with $100+ game titles.

If you are willing to compromise on that along with the other downsides of digital, great. No need to have a breakdown over people warning others of said downsides so that they can make an educated purchase.

      • +1

Why are you here if you don't like digital?

Because I've bought digitally, I purchased my best man a PS4 pro and he's enjoying my whole digital library while I still enjoy it on my PS5….

That alone kills physical media for me.

        • +3

Why are you here if you don't like digital?

Lol, what? Because I'm curious and can view whichever thread I want? Why are you here if you already have a console? Probably the same reason I assume.

Again it's great that it fits your use-case, but digital is still a downside for many people and a major hit to your wallet if you have unused games, not to mention the difference in price between both is barely like 3 games. It's not a fan club, no need to get this defensive over a sub-variant of a console of all things.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Good. None of your business what people choose to do.

You are only here to mock and criticise digital buyers.

I don't care for your reasons. Physical media is for my late grandparents.

I don't want a house full of crap.

            • @scuderiarmani:

You are only here to mock and criticise digital buyers.

Physical media is for my late grandparents.

You're the only one mocking people listing out cons or limitations for this version of the console, lol. None of your business what people choose to comment, buy or which thread they choose to visit, at the end of the day a buyer can read both sets of comments comments and make their own choice. Grow up.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: So, you are here to what? Mock everyone who buys or likes digital.

There's many words for that, all of which would get my comment deleted :)

Keeping holding onto your caveman past with physical media. You won't have that option soon :)

                • @scuderiarmani:

Keeping holding onto your caveman past with physical media. You won't have that option soon :)

Again, you're the only one mocking people and being unnecessarily childish contributing nothing constructive to this thread. Perhaps look up the definition of mocking then come back and pull up an example of where I've done the same to someone for purchasing digital rather than spamming that word to give your whinges weight?

This discussion is going nowhere, you can continue having a sook about comments on here by yourself :)

  • damn it. just bought 5% off vouchers and sold out when i went to complete the order :/

    • +3

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes..

  • Digital hating (mod: inflammatory) on a negging spree.
Why you mad at other peoples choices bro?

    • +2

I don't think anyone is mad lol just pointing out how the only benefit (saving $50) is outweighed by pretty much every aspect, including price of games

      • +1

The difference between the disc version and the digital is $150.

Once the revamped PS PLUS releases next month, this version will lift up.

        • Oh yeah good point, maybe like 3 games then, over the entire lifetime of the console. Also disregarding all the physical game sales, 2nd hand games, watching movies, the value just isn't there

          • @DiscountForThee: Watching movies? You're not talking about value proposition while paying for DVDs, surely?

            • @lordbpp: Blu-rays are still superior, and can also be bought cheap (and second hand)

          • +2

@DiscountForThee: This is your use case and is not someone else's use case. That is what everyone is trying to tell you. So you keeping hammering the same point is just silly. Everyone's requirement is different that is why there is a thing called market segments.

I personally stopped buying physical media years ago, CBF meeting up people to buy and sell 2nd hand games, watch movies on netflix, absolutely dont value a disc drive. Standing up from my comfy couch, walking to my stand tv and physically changing a media is just fking annoying to me and backwards.

            • @KaTst3R: The thing is - you can do all of that still with the physical versions :D you're only limiting yourself, forever, and gain $150
