Which category do they come under for cashback?

I'm seeing 0% for accessories, assuming they are under this category, for both CR and SB.

Thanks for the other links too

  • Anyone own one? Feedback pls

Bought one last month th for 9.77.
It's small, but for essentials, it's good. The quality for money is great.

    • +1

I've got it and use it to transport my smallish 14" Dell laptop to work, I have a dock at work and home though so don't need to bring much stuff with me. Can fit most things I need. I've currently got a charger, HDMI cable, mouse and some other bits and it fits them fine. Could fit a lunchbox but it would start to get crowded.

For $18 I paid for it I'm happy. I didn't want a big rucksack to cart around - I would recommend but depends on your laptop size and how many odds and ends you need to carry around.

This "clearance sale" is a regular event, but because I like the backpack and I've left an extended review before I've copied and pasted my detailed review that I left on a previous OzB post……I've owned this backpack since Jan 21 and I use it about once a week. I bought it in a previous deal, here's my thoughts.
The Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 laptop pocket is no bigger than my similar sized 15" Dell backpack, both backpacks laptop pockets are exactly 310mm wide. The laptop pocket can fit my 15" Dell XPS while it's in a laptop sleeve and laptop bag quite snugly,
so my guess is that it would just barely fit a 17" laptop with a sleeve.
The material is shiny and a bit stiff, making it more difficult to get into the smaller pockets. There's an adequate amount of padding to protect your laptop,
particularly on the back and the bottom. The Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 stands out with it's bright red trim and Dell logo,
making it in my opinion more likely to get stolen, thieves are going to think there's got to be something good in there.
I use it regularly to carry groceries on my bike, cartons of milk, fruit etc, often there will be 6KG+ in there and it feels comfortable to wear,
the extra padding on the back stops pointy objects poking me in the back, the shoulder straps are wide soft and comfortable.
I like this laptop bag, it has good access and the zip to the main compartment allows you to open the bag up wide to provide good access.
The outer material feels like a Gore-Tex raincoat making it feel like it's rain proof, though I have no idea if it is. The zips feel premium or at least good quality
along with the rest of the backpack, at $18.60 inc delivery, it's an OzB no brainer. It would make an ideal Kris Kringle present,
or just re-gift it if you don't like it!

      • Thanks for the detailed feedback. I pulled the trigger. Need one for work when I go in 2 days a week.

    • +3

premium look and feel, very, very good quality for the price

holds happily my 17g Aorus, mouse, headset, mouse pad, tablet, charger

but no way to organise anything besides laptop and tablet and maybe a couple cables. everything is just dumped inside

Bought one out of being OZB, still in the plastic bag for a year.

    • +12

      this is the way

    • +2

      I know this feel

    • +1

Make sure you keep plastic bag to use as bin liner so you don't have to steal fruit bags from the supermarket

    • Same here (actually gave it to my kid as pretend luggage during the holidays), but then my trustworthy Caribee broke down in a middle of the trip and I was happy to have it as backup…! Still my main backpack until I find a proper replacement, quite impressed with it in the meantime.

  • Grabbed one as looks like it might be useful for transporting my work laptop + daily-carry to-and-from- the office a couple times a week… now that it's a thing again.
I've had Dell bags in the past and found the quality to be very good.

  • +1

I have the gaming backpack 1720 - you get what you pay for. Its a well-made bag, but nothing about it is 'premium', and the $40 I paid feels about right for the quality of it

  • Anyone know if the gaming ones (that fit up to 17 inch) are going to be too big for a 15 inch?

    • +2

      No it's not.

I bought it and it's perfect for my 15" laptop.

But the gaming one really isn't any better than the essentials one. I bought both and in hindsight think the essentials one was a better buy.

      • Thanks - i was tossing up between these two!

      • +1

Are the accessory compartments in the gaming one useful? From the pictures, I can only see one (+ laptop compartment)

        • +2

It only has one extra pocket on the inside. Better than none, bit still pretty poor.

  • Grabbed a brief case for $10.20 delivered. Cheers

  • +1

one with red stripe is good have used it sparingly last 6 months when going to office

  • +2

Got one previously, I am surprize how thin the bag is, will never use it as a laptop bag. $64 seem way overprice. Its an OK price for $17

  • +1

I have the essential backpack and briefcase but bought the non-lite gaming backpack to see if it can fit a bit more than the essential for days where I'd like to carry lunch and a jacket. Also the back zip on the essential was starting to annoy me.

  • +1

I have both these 15 and 17" backpacks. At these prices these are a bargain. Thinking about getting more but I don't need that many.

  • Is the essentials or the gaming a better buy for a few dollars more?(Prefer the essentials style) for use with say Thinkpads?

    • Essentials.

      I own both

    • +1

Essential is more compact, perfect when you want travel light on public transport. Gaming Lite Backpack is bigger, but I reckon it's also convenient, I mean not that bulky. Good for overhead cabin storage. Both are well made.

      • +1

Would the either one be able to fit a small lunchbox? Just want to be able to fit a tablet, some food and maybe a jumper

        • +1

I reckon both will be fine.

  • +3
  • Prefer the look of the Pro, "discounted" to $56
    Anyone tried this one?

    • I'd like to know this too.

I'm tossing up between these two and if its worth spending the extra $23 for the pro backpack

      Dell Pro Backpack 17 – PO1720P

      Dell Gaming Backpack 17– GM1720PM

      • I'm coming in late, but I own the gaming one. It's very, very good.
Really sturdy and length of room.

      • The pretty triangles on the GM1720PM sold it for me last time. The subtle flair is nicer in person.

        • Does it look like rainbow? Some pics show it looking pretty colourful

          • +1

@Sambuca: Only when strong light hits it a particular way. It’s quite muted in normal indoor light because it is made from a reflective type material. Does not look like what a 8 year old girl would go giddy over, if that’s what you were thinking.

            • @blerk: That's exactly what I was thinking, you answered that perfectly! :)

  • Will the recent gigabyte 17.3 3070 laptop deal fit into this backpack?.

  • I have a legion 5 pro 16 inch should I go with 17” bag or would it fit in 15”

  • +1

Looks nice enough but for me the Dell logo is a deal-breaker. It makes it look like you got it for free at a conference.

    • +1

Which makes you look more like a pro bargainer as described by Gerry Harvey.

  • Can anyone tell me if the briefcase would fit 2 x 13" laptops and one charger?

    • +1

I have the 15” briefcase and my 13” hp and 13 macbook pro snugly fit with 1 charger can be squeezed on the side. I would worry on the handle though. I don’t think the materials were built to carry 2 laptops also bear in mind the padding of the essential briefcase isn’t that great.

  • Went with the gaming, it has a rain cover and I cycle …..had bad exerience with crumpler in that water got in through the zip with rain driven by wind behind me …. luckily nokia fixed the rain damaged phone under warranty, Ipad dried and worked, work laptop (Dell) booted and worked fine.

  • If you don't already have the Dell Essentials backpack, you should probably hand in your Ozb card.

    • +3

Didn't, bought, handed back ozb card. SoZ

      • You shall be reappointed your card on delivery. Check the front pocket.

    • Didn’t want to lose my card so bought all 3, will find use for them later.

    Awesome thanks op

  • Does it fit the Alienware Area-51m R2?

    • +1

Might be too thicc to fit in.

      • thanks

  • looks like a backpack strapped laptop sleeve. i need a little more space and it would be perfect. great deal though if it fits your needs

  • Got the essential as daily commuter. Thanks OP.

  • When in doubt about which one to get, order all 3.

  • How's shipping time?

One of the ugliest bags I've ever seen

    • Got the same email. If only the one they offered was a 17".

      • Got same email. Im pissed because i bought the 15" bag which got delayed and i had to go overseas. So it got delivered and consequently returned to sender and got refunded.

Bought the 17" bag and that too was delayed and now cancelled. Was offered the ecoloop backpack and i didnt take up the offer as not liking the look of it.
