    So what is it exactly?

    • +29

Usenet/Torrent manager for downloading Linux ISOs.

      • -2

Funny that whenever I see topics on torrent downloading, I read people are using it for downloading Linux ISOs. At that rate I think it should have overthrown Windows in market share by now, no?

        • +6

We just like to collect them. Just in case, you know?

          • +1

@runean: Believe it or not, most computers run on Linux.
Wether it is some "dumb" appliance, your Android phone, or most Cloud Servers. Microsoft gets a smaller piece of the pie, but they get much more revenue. And Apple is even smaller but has the largest piece of the profit pie.

    • +4

The first sentence of the app listing.

      nzb360 is a full-featured NZB / torrent manager

      • +3

He's known for not reading posts.

        • +9

Well it wasn't in the post so…

          • -3

            @Tacooo:

Awesome app if you torrent, nzb, plex, radarr, sonarr, lidarr, couchpotato, etc.

Alternatively you could click on the deal but that's always a struggle.

            • @Clear: …are you just antagonising? That doesn't say what it does at all. The point of a small description is to tell people what it is and does, as well as prices.

              • -2

@Tacooo: And the point of the link is so you can view the deal and get more information.

                • @Clear: No, the point of the link is to provide you a way to purchase whatever the deal is.

                  • -3

@Tacooo: Read the description, read the deal and then ask the question. Not everyone puts descriptions in their posts.

                    • @Clear: Well then let's just do away with descriptions, prices and store names then. After all, not everyone puts those in their posts either.

                      • @Tacooo: Hence why mods and power users exist to ensure titles are correct. I clicked the link and straight up that says:

nzb360 is a full-featured NZB / torrent manager that focuses on providing the best experience possible for controlling all of your usenet and torrent needs.

The OP definitely should have added that. Hence why people should always click the deal for more information.

        • Wow clicking on the link and reading the first sentence is too hard now?

  • +3

Been using it for years, coupled with the VPN server running on my router and I have all I need to be able to keep Couch, Sonarr etc up to date with new media as I find it.

The Dev is very helpful as well and the updates to enhance functionality or fix bugs that may creep in are frequent.

I don't torrent but usenet and this app is well worth it (for my use case at least).

    • Why use couch and not radarr? Couch isn't even supported anymore? Pretty sure Dev stopped updating it earlier this year.

      • That was a brain fade on my behalf. I do use Radarr, I saw Couch mentioned elsewhere and for some reason that is what I referenced.

    • +2

      Different things.

  • +1

Dumb question, but this is just a manager and you need all the relevant subscriptions?

    • +1

      yep

      • +2

Ok cool. Thanks. Appreciate the quick response 👍

        • +2

          :)

    • To be clear, there are no subscriptions underlying this.

Radarr + qBit + trackers are all free, and form a bare-minimum for effectively using this app - which you could also just use the free version of for most needs.

      • UseNet requires subscriptions, for both a provider and an indexer (decent ones anyway).

        • bare-minimum for effectively using this app

Indeed. Likewise, you might choose to pay for a seedbox, quality VPNs, backups, Plex Pass, etc.

I'm just saying that you could choose to use the free version with this app, with public trackers, and you'd still have a perfectly servicable experience for free.

I think a lot of people in this thread are having strong knee jerk reactions to paying for any of this, so I'm pointing out there are no hidden costs necessary.

  • +1

Great app, use it all the time.

  • great app at this price.

  • +4

Dumb question, why would you ever want to torrent from phone instead of proper PC…? And why use paid app for it? Surely there must be a better, free, and open-source alternative?

    • +42

      That's not a dumb question… That's 3 dumb questions.

      • +2

I don't get it either. A phone is not the best way to torrent. I rarely do torrent these days as you get all the stuff on streaming. Not much point in getting an app for free torrents

        • This is more to integrate with services such as sonarr and radarr etc. not to download torrents onto your phone. Prowlarr integration is pretty good too

          • +5

@greater mimic: which can all be done via a more suitable device… my stack is SABnzbd, qBittorrent, Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr and Overseerr - none of which cost a cent

            • +5

@KRiSX: I mean yeah you can open those up on a browser but the app makes it much easier to manage. Give the free version a shot

              • -3

@greater mimic: I rarely ever have a need to, Overseerr is the main one I'd ever use on my phone and works brilliantly. I guess this just isn't something I have a need for, if I ever need to do something more than add something new to the library I'll jump on my laptop or desktop and do it. Oh well, pretty UI for those that have the need I guess.

                • @KRiSX: Ok you do you, but you can skip the laptop bit with this app very easily

                • +1

@KRiSX: I imagine there are quite a few bargains that get posted daily that you don't have a need for. Not sure if you post on each of them as well with a similar view.

                • @KRiSX: What does Overseerr allow you to do on your phone?

                  • @brd56: discover new content and add it to my library which then automatically starts searching for it… i can search for things manually or browse through its suggestions, its fantastic and family members that aren't technicallly inclined love it and i i love because they don't have to bother me to get something on my plex server, lol

            • +1

@KRiSX: It's an awesome app that brings all of these things into the one interface. Awesome dashboard for recommending shows & movies too.

            • @KRiSX: Ok… I just use flud torrent downloader for everything. What am i missing out on and is there a term for this i could google for an overview?

        • +1

A phone is not the best way to torrent.

Then you're clearly doing it wrong. Clearly you aren't using Radarr/Sonarr/Jackett etc.

      • +2

followed by 1 dumb answer… I too don't see the point and am curious what peoples use cases are needing something like this on an android device? the idea of people living the life of downloading "linux isos" on a phone or tablet is pretty alien to me, especially when it can all be done for free on other hardware.

        • +6

Doing almost anything on phones more advanced than general browsing is a massive pain for me. Like, even having to sign into things on the web pisses me off.

          • @gakko:

Clearly you haven't ever used Radarr/Sonarr/Jackett etc.

No one here is talking about browsing torrent sites.

            🤦

        • +2

If you don't understand, you're not the target user for this app.

          • +1

@PainToad: its a frontend for the Arr's, download clients, etc (to put it really simply)… I get it and I still think its a waste of money personally, but good on the people that like it.

            • -1

@KRiSX: Your subtle ‘bragging’ because you worked out to download using Usenet is not impressing anyone. I mean, it’s cute you finally discovered how to do this, but if you think this program serves no purpose and that you run a flawless setup that never needs attention, you’re either lying or have the setup of a toddler.

              • +5

@[Deactivated]: I love how peoples defences are trying to insult someone rather than trying to convince someone of the benefits, but please, tell me again how bad my setup is because I feel I have no need for a phone app to control it… I don't care if people love this thing, I just want to know why and the actually useful replies are few and far between

                • -1

                  @KRiSX:

ather than trying to convince someone of the benefits

I really don't get this logic that is rampant on OzBargain. Unless there's a Rep title next to a user's name, they are not paid to convince you to use/buy anything.

                • +2

@KRiSX: Simple. It’s a tool that allows you to manage things much easier. I could be anywhere in the world and open up the app to do what I want it to do. I understand it’s not essential, but even with a pc or laptop handy, this program is still much quicker. I use overseer too - amazing program, but it has its limitations and this app can fill those gaps in as quick a time as possible. Apologies how I addressed you before, it was a bit rude. But my point still stands.

        • +2

I found a usecase for it, though it is niche.

A few years back I was using prepaid sims for the house internet, as I only need 50gb a month for basic web browsing and a bit of youtube. I still wanted to download things, but I didn't need to do it everyday. It was alright if it happened in bulk once a week.

At the time, everyone was abuzz about Telstra offering free internet access if you had a telstra sim. They used the telephone boxes as wireless access points.
So, what I did was load up a spare cheap phone with a $2 telstra sim, hide it near the phone box, and use it to download as much as I could.

Theoretically yes you could do the same with a laptop, but a phone draws a lot less power, and in combination with a 20000mah powerbank can last for days.

        • +1

I have been running a similar stack to you for about the last three years. I think it took me all of about two weeks (the first time I didn't feel like getting out of bed to use my PC) to find a use case for nzb360.

        • -1

It provides a headless way to access the software it integrates with (Sonarr, Radarr etc.)
Saves you from logging onto a PC or using the crapping web interfaces these give you. This has much better UX.
If you still don't get it then you don't need it.

    • +3

This is just a remote frontend for those apps (nzb, radar, sonarr, …). This app on its own does not do any torrenting etc. You remotely control those apps running on your PC or VPS.

  • +6

This app is absolutely brilliant. Worth it at full price, an absolute steal at half price.

I would say that 80% of my content is sourced via this app. Its so quick and easy you can have half a dozen movies and several TV series all scheduled for download while you poop.

    • -2

      Does it include an indexer?

      • This is literally just a front end client for your set up. You link it to Sonarr/Radarr which is in turn linked to your selected indexer.

  • +1

What about LunaSea as a free alternative?

    • This is what I use on iOS. It’s great.

    • +1

It's Ok but NZB360's UI and discover feature is something i definitely miss since switching to IOS.

    • Yeah, as a LunaSea fan I was wondering the same initially.

I would recommend downloading the free version and playing around with it. It might not seem like much, but the content discovery features in nzb360 make for a really neat upgrade over LunaSea.

  • -6

Flud is cheaper if you don't use usenet

    • +3

Another person not understanding what this app does.

  • +2

Nzb360 is amazing I definitely recommend. Kev is great at adding new features and improvements too

  • -2

People pay for software that performs piracy? Curious.

    • +1

This software doesn't "perform" piracy. You don't understand what it does. It doesn't download anything.

      • I think I understand what it does well enough despite never using it, Your Honour.

I just find it funny that people pay for tools that help to pirate movies/TV shows/etc. Why not pirate the tool too!?

        • Overruled.

I just find it funny that people pay for tools that help to pirate movies/TV shows/etc. Why not pirate the tool too!?

          see here

        • -2

The only person talking about piracy is you. Automatic updates, paying the author and not mucking around with dodgy apk's is why people pay for this tool.

        • I just find it funny that people pay for tools that help to pirate movies/TV shows/etc. Why not pirate the tool too!?

Objection, Your Honor - hearsay, calls for speculation, lack of foundation, argumentative!

    • +1

It's the convenience factor. Configure Nzb360 Pro with a seedbox, and you basically have a netflix-style experience that can do any movie or show you want. If you're using something like rutorrent it also makes it way easier to control through a mobile device too.

EDIT: and no, it's not the same as Ombi/petio/overseerr

    • People don't just pirate cause they can't afford stuff, it's also done cause the current streaming services suck and lack content and/or has everything spread out over 30 different streaming services and even then it's a pain in the ass to find the show you want to watch and have to subscribe to them all.

with a Sonarr/Radarr/SABnzbd/Plex/Nzb360 setup it's all automated and if i discover a new show or movie you can pull out your phone anywhere you have internet access and add it to Sonarr(TV Shows) or Radarr(Movies) and it will be downloaded in a few minutes (depending on internet speed) and added to Plex.

Think of it as a personal Netflix with only TV shows and movies that YOU want. NZB360 is merely a convenient way to add new shows and movies from your phone.

      • Oh I completely understand the fragmentation of streaming is annoying. But if I was going to steal the content, I would probably also steal the content acquisition tools ;)

        • you can steal the 'content acquisition tools' - but it updates so frequently some people might prefer to pay, rather than deal with the manual sideloading.
Many people also probably paid using Google Rewards, or perhaps used their Telstra credit back when Telstra allowed it.

    • +3

Well actually you've always paid, it was just in time instead of money. As you get older/wiser, time becomes more valuable, and you're willing to trade small amounts of money to save it.

  • Hmm, I'm not sold. Is it awesome?

    • No one here is here to sell you on anything.

Do your own research about what this app can do and decide for yourself.

      • Nvm… 🙄

  • I must have b bought this previously - thanks for the reminder!

  • +2

Developer is fantastic. Years ago I shot him a message because the "Delete Season" button was underneath the "Search for Episodes" without a confirmation causing me to delete a bunch of episodes with an accidental press. Next update was only days later now with a confirm prompt. A must have app if you're down the rabbit-hole.

  • -4

The ignorance is strong in these comments.

Used my daily comment neg votes in one deal.

  • +1

Great app. I donate to run developer every few months. One of my most used apps and one of the main reasons I can't migrate to Apple, because this app is Android only

  • -3

Wait a minute… You guys torrent nowadays?

  • +1

Might be worth putting a disclaimer in the post that this is only useful for people using any of the software listed in the post (radarr, sonarr etc). Seems like there are lots of people around here wondering if they should purchase and yet have no idea what any of this software is or how it works.

    • That’s on them. Why would you purchase this App and not know what it’s for? lol. That’s a bit silly.

If you need to ask what this app is used for….. you don’t need it.

  • +2

I'm a longer time Linux ISO obtainer and I had no idea something like this existed! Using my Google Credits for surveys and stuff, this cost me 20c. Thx OP!

  • -2

Is this only for movies or can download softwares too. Tried free version, search doesn't bring up anything!

    • +1

It will download any file you provide an indexer/tracker for.

      • What's the difference between pro and free?

  • +1

So I understand you connect this to your sonarr/radarr and you can do the searches from here? But the ports for the listed softwares would need to be opened up to the outside to make this work remotely?

    • No, you can vpn in to your network and access them that way.

      • Or reverse proxy

        • which is a worse option than hosting a VPN generally, unless you plan to access your devices from different devices every time. realistically, it's only gonna be your phone & laptop, which you can just configure yourself with certs

reverse proxy is really only an attractive option for obfuscating your Plex IP from your viewers, or if you let your users request content - there's almost no need to expose your services that broadly, even if they do go through some kind of rproxy auth

    • +2

yes, but do not do those lightly. radarr and sonarr by default do not ask for login so that seems like a terrible idea to open up your sonarr/radarr to the internet.

At minimum you should reverse proxy them with caddy, proxy the URL with cloudflare, and set up a login page for sonarr/radarr.

Or you can just download tailscale and set up a home network vpn and use the tailscale IP as though its your internal IP. Tailscale (VPN) would need to be running and turned on both the local network device and the phone.
