      • I don't have any problem sideloading apps with CCWGTV

      • Kodi and real debrid is all you'd ever need I reckon. Works well on Ccwgtv, but Ezra is a bit buggy took me a week to figure out the configs

  • +3

Do I need this if i have a smart TV?

    • +12

      Ask your TV

    • +2

need? no. But odds are it's snappier than the TVs built in interface. And will to get updates for longer.
Downsides are it's potentially missing some apps, but can always be sideloaded.

    • +1

It does some apps your tv might not eg. paramount plus

    • I got one for our Sony TV because the OS is so slow on the TV. Worth it.

    • +1

The same question I had too. Ordered 1 though ;)

  • What’s better this or Google TV?

    • +2

      Google TV

    • You can't cast with this

      • +10

You can, but they won’t take the bait

        • +2

          (;`ー´)o/ ̄ ̄ ̄~>°)))彡

        • Sounds fishy

      • Damn, I bought this thinking I could cast in hotels for travel. But I guess I can always navigate via the apps.

        • I just tested Netflix and YouTube and can cast from phone, didn't show up in my Disney + though

        • I did the exact same thing for the exact same reason haha. Oh well.

        • You can, read my writing above.

      • That’s what I use the original chromecast for no need to upgrade

  • thanks OP got 1

can place multiple orders or at least 2 for someone looking to buy for multi room/house

  • Thanks for the deal, got one for my spare dumb/not-smart TV

  • +1

Omg Yas was waiting for Amazon to match jb hey they went one better 🎉

  • +2

Can’t use my gift card balance to buy it:

Your gift card balance can't be applied to orders that contain other Amazon.com.au gift cards.

    • +4

      Reason seems legit

    • +1

Yeah i tried that too, didn't work.

    • +1

Not even for the other part (the $39 part) of the order?

      • Nah, no gift card at all cos you’ll be getting a $20 gc apparently…so you’re using a gc to buy a gc technically.

  • +1

Free Delivery option available (for non-prime) for firestick, however giftcard delivery is 5.99. No free delivery option for giftcard.

    • +2

Updated title. But for that price of shipping, you are better off getting monthly subscription of prime.

    • +1

just get prime, it's worth it.

  • I was saving for another Apple TV but at this price, it was so hard not to buy this. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP Replaces my 1st Gen one

  • +1

    Thanks Op,

I just bought one more of these sticks as they are really cheap, Don't know what I'll do with those ha ha - but will do something with the gift card.

    Thanks

  • Thank you, just bought one, bargain!

  • +1

Just checked my order details so it has automatically applied that $20 giftcard and is only charging my credit card an amount of $39.

    • same but not sure if that includes the $20 GC amount. Cant see why they would send out a GC if the credit is already applied to the order. If the GC turns up with $20 credit ,then the effective price is just $19 - see what happens.

    • Amazon hasn’t charged me yet because I missed the cut off for next day delivery

    • +2

Are you sure it's not that they are charging you separately for each item ($39 firestick and $20 gc), mine is being charged separately as they have different despatch times, so ive only been charged $39 now

      • +1

I am pretty sure that is the case. You can use a debit card with just $40 inside and avoid the $20 gift card hassle.
Alternatively amazon usually allows partial cancellation after (not before) partial dispatchment.

      • Yep sorry you are right. It's charging $20 separately for the gift card. I will try cancelling it as soon as the fire stick is despatched.

  • Anyone else get charged $20 after buying ?

    • +1

You got charged for the gift card, you will get charged $39 for the device eventually.

      • Thank you, that was weird , I thought it was free

  • I have Amazon fire tv lite.. worth upgrading? I have been using it for more than a year without trouble

    • Yes, for this price.

  • +2

Too bad you can't cast this like Google Chromecast.

  • +1

Have a shield but tempted to get one at this price
And put the$20 voucher towards an Ethernet adaptor
Any recommendations on which ones work with the Max?
Some don't mention The Max in description

  • Anyone tried to cancel the gift card in their order history on Amazon? The gift card and Fire TV Stick show as two separate orders…. Never done this but just a thought when I saw the ‘cancel item’ button next to the voucher?

    • +1

I'll try it after they despatch the firesticks, no point being charged and receiving the gc if can get the price

    • +2

When I click on cancel for the gift card it prompts me to cancel both items on the next page.

    • +1

You need to do that after the firetv has been dispatched, most likely it will work.

      • Nope, couldn't cancel the gc even though it's not despatched as they said it's been processed already. Not thick skinned enough to go to live chat about it lol

  • how well does this play local mkv files shared via smb files that is 4k 10bit hevc hdr?

  • Bit the bullet, Got one to comfort to the shield TV

  • My order is showing $39 for the stick and a seperate order for $20 for the gift card. Waiting for Amazon to charge me.

  • showing $99 for me, maybe the deal is ended

    • You have to apply the coupon at the checkout

      • You are right. I missed the coupon part. Thanks mate

  • Just bought the the Fire TV Max 4K for $59 from JB. Will need to cancel the order. Haven't picked up yet.

  • +4

Didn't need it, but bought it, thanks op

  • Picked one up to replace my 4k non max version. This one has the option to disable hdr i believe, which my older tv doesn't have.

  • Paid only $29 😁

    • how?

      • On check out , used the code above, 10% emp discount and not sure if that $20 also applied or not!

        • Do you get 10% off everything?

          • +2

@vodamerc: Only to a max of 150 a year. And only for Amazon au products.

Not huge but comes in handy.

    • Hey what department do you work for?

      • +3

Oh no Bezos is onto him. RIP masum47, he leaves behind Mrs masum47 and little masum48, masum49 & masum50.

        • Says the guy with number 69…You are funny!!

        • Just excited to see another amazon employe on here.

  • +1

I've got a LG C9 TV, do I need this? Genuine question, why get this if you've already got a smart TV?

  • Just in case I missed it in the comments, I don’t have a prime membership, yet I still got free shipping (I had to select it as an option at checkout)

Only downside was I couldn’t use my current Amazon credit to purchase this deal (as you can’t use Amazon credit to buy something that comes with Amazon credit!)

  • I reckon its safe to cancel the gift card order after placing the order.

    • Is it okay to cancel gift card alone? It's showing $90 now when I was about to cancel.

  • Username checks out 👍

  • Kayo?

  • I have LG smart tv so do I still need this?
    Thx

  • Weirdly the coupon took $40 off for me, not complaining but cheers!

    • That's the deal though. $99-40 = $59

      • Ahh right! Didn't notice the gift card costs $20 as well, thanks

  • anyone own this device already?
please reply to this comment, would like to ask some question before getting this

  • +3

    Do I need it? No
Did I buy it? Yes :(

  • I accidentally ordered twice with delivery. First one 44 + 20, second one 39 + 20. Because first time it discount $40 , second time discount $45. Now I am trying to cancel first order it it says "Important Message
We're sorry. An error occurred when we tried to process your request. Rest assured, we're working to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Please try again in a few minutes"

Can anyone suggest what to do? I tried after 10 minutes and 20 minutes, but still same results.

    • +2

chat with Amazon customer service. They will cancel it for you

      • Thanks for your suggestions. I can't find the chat link, do you have it handy?

        • +1

          https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…

Click on "need more help" then "Contact us" . it will give you option of chat or call.

          • -1

@Optimus Prime: Thanks for your help. I ended up calling them (actually instant call back) and the lady cancelled both. I said you were supposed to cancel only one. She then asked me to order again. By that time $20 gift voucher became oos. I said to restore one order back, she said they can't. I told her to talk to her supervisor she then suggested me to buy $99 one (free shipping) for price $59 (with code in op) and they will refund me $20 once my payment is processed through zip pay. She also confirmed me through email.

  • Has to be the best paid offer of the month. Cheers OP
