had one, poor quality and difficult to use. replaced it with a Logi G502

      Not the same price range.

      • -2

G502 Discounted to ~$50 range, very similar

        • +4

          That's wired though.

          • +1

            @Void:

            That's wired though.

I am wondering whether he/she really own it. XD

    • +5

Used both, find the Basilisk X more comfortable and definitely is not poor quality. Less buttons on it makes it a better choice for me too. So, I guess it's subjective, at least in terms of comfort.

      • +2

I am happy with my Basilisk X as well, the quality is fine for a $50 mouse.

      • Is this better than the Deathadder wireless?

  • +2

I had the same issues as you with the mouse OP. I usually just switch it on and off and after a few seconds it starts working again. Other than that, its a pretty good mouse.

      Same or use bluetooth.

Its most probably windows turning off the usb ports.. i hvae this mouse and never had that problem. great mouse.

      • OK, let me try disable "USB selective suspend setting" in Power options and disable allow this device wake up computer.

        • The same just happened again, walked away 1 min and no response no cursor, turn it off and on and came back.

Won't happen if I let it sleep longer, no sure why.

I've had this mouse for a few months and had to change the battery twice already using the 2.4 mode. I also turn off the mouse after I'm finished using it every day. My $20 logitech mice have lasted at least a year on a single battery.

    • +1

The mouse should automatically turn off after 5 mins of inactivity.

I probably go through an eneloop every 1-2 months with between 5 and 12 hours of use a day.
I'd say it's a good budget wireless mouse, but I'm patiently waiting for a G502 Lightspeed to be cheap.

      • The mouse continues to blink for ages if I don't turn it off, and if I bump it slightly it will try to sync again even though all my devices are off. I'd rather turn it off the conserve the battery.

Tbh I like the shape of the mouse, it's pretty comfy so I'll just have to live with the short battery life.

    • Gaming mouse not the same

My $20 logitech mice have lasted at least a year on a single battery

      an eneloop

Eneloop same but with eneloop it won't show 100% battery

I have one currently and as other people have complained, it does lag out and freeze occasionally, and sometimes requires multiple off/on restarts for the mouse to work properly. Having purchased one at a similar price, I wouldn't say it's not worth it, but if you are willing to spend extra for the Ultimate, that would probably be better. Comfortability and function wise I have had no problems.

I own this and use it for work. It's very meh. Works ok for a work mouse but I wouldn't use it for gaming as it desync's for a few seconds randomly. I've been using it exclusively wireless 2.4ghz (not bluetooth). But issue I also have for it being a work mouse is that is has no side scrolling options. The mouse wheel is fixed (also doesn't feel nice to scroll).

ALSO WHY THE HELL RAZOR DO I WANT YOU TO INSTALL THE RAZOR SOFTWARE EVERY TIME I PLUG THIS MOUSE INTO A NEW USB PORT. NO I DON'T WANT YOUR SOFTWARE, NO I DON'T WANT YOU TO AUTOMATICALLY INSTALL IT AND FINALLY I DONT WANT YOU TO OVERRIDE MY LOADED DPI SETTINGS TO THE MOUSE WHEN YOU DO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE. NO ONE NEEDS !@#$ING 2000 DPI AS A DEFAULT DPI.

    2/10 would not recommend.

I had the same issue and found out that it's because the dongle is too far away…..make it closer and you won't have the 'desync' problem. Or just use the bluetooth

      • because the dongle is too far away…

Already on the desk near the mouse.

        • Just moved it from the left hand side of the monitor to the right hand side, just only like 30cm difference.

I did see some logitech wireless combo have issue if the dongle too far away or under the desk.

Now in front of the mouse let see.

      • Thank you, I've had the same issue and was wondering if it was because the dongle was too far away. Will move it closer and see how I go.

      • The dongle in this case is about 30cm away. I've got the dongle plugged into my laptop dock sitting below my monitor. I'm sure distance isn't the issue here. If it needs to be any closer than that, I may as well glue the USB dongle to the mouse and plug that into a USB extension cable.

        • My laptop was on the other side of the monitor when I had the problem. I had to move it to the same side of the mouse and the problem went away. The problem with the short distance may be caused by interference with other usb dongles (ie your keyboard's).

Try it out man, before you say distance isn't the issue.

          • @asdasd-asd: The wireless USB dongle already has line of sight to the mouse. Its plugged into the front of one of these Dell Dock which sits below my monitor. I don't have any other wireless USB dongles. My keyboard is a wired Razor huntsman mini. I don't have any closer available USB ports.

A wireless mouse should be able to handle the 1m - 1.5m distance to the back of a regular PC through a desk. I'm not saying the desync issue happens often but it drops out for about 10 seconds once or twice a day while in the middle of regular use for work. I could be in the middle of a screen share with a customer presentation just for it to stop working for a few seconds. It was worse over Bluetooth.

To me this is enough to ruin any competitive online game if it happens for you at the wrong time. I normally use a Logitec g502 lightspeed at home which doesn't have this issue.

            • @MegaBytePanda:

but it drops out for about 10 seconds once or twice a day while in the middle of regular use for work.

That's not good, I never have this issue in the middle of work, only if I am away for a few mins.

Did you install the software, so that it will update the firmware for you?

              • @superforever: Yeah coming back after being away can take a few seconds to wake up, but this is separate to that. I have installed the software before to save custom DPI settings to the mouse (I normally use 500 dpi), but I don't like having it stay installed on the PC because it's a work PC. Yes I have admin rights, but I'd still prefer not to have any unnecessary 3rd party apps on a company computer. As far as I know the mouse has the latest firmware as it's been updated since I bought it.

Between these mouse problems, razor keyboard hardware limitations, software limitations and other past experiences with razor products, I can't recommend Razer less to anyone. But hey, I've bought them and want to get some use out of them so I still use them.

    • +1

Lmao I've had the same issue with all my other razer mice and have no idea how to get rid of the installation prompt.

  • +1

I own one. Bluetooth doesn't work very well (might've been a problem in my end admittedly), very jittery, switched to 2.4ghz and it was perfect, no issues. Been about 4 months, haven't changed the battery.

Im a casual user though so it ticks my boxes but again, im not doing anything fancy. just clicking and moving the cursor :)

  • +2

I had one. Poor quality. Crappy clicking. Couldn't right click and drag. Massive interference with Bluetooth headphones.

    Don't bother. Get a Logitech.

I replaced it with a G604 off eBay for $99.

  • Seeing all these mice just make me want Logi brings G500 back even more, best mice without nostalgia factor IMO.

  • +1

In my experience Razer mice are cheap overpriced junk

  • I was having issues with this mouse & found the dongle needs to be close & have no interference. My case was blocking the signal, plugged it into a hub right next to keyboard & the issues vanished.

  • paid $29 ish + delivery (not on Amazon prime)from last deal in November

    • Are you sure the same model, never saw that for $29 here.

      • Yeah pretty sure it's the same model. I got it for $35 ish including delivery. Maybe used coupon for new Amazon shopping app users;)

  • Ballistic hyperspeed ay

  • Is the Basilisk V3 better? I know it is wired compare to this, but I actually prefer wired. In term of quality, which one would you prefer? I am using a G500 atm, but it has the double click problem so I am in the market for a new mouse.

  • I got this a year ago for $42. Been refunded under warranty as it kept not turning on. Had to remove and insert battery multiple times and sometimes it would stay in and sometimes it would not.

Battery was fine and battery contacts looked fine too.

  • Got the same mouse and have the same problems as OP.

Otherwise works great and quality is fine.

I use rechargeable AA because the environment.

  • I have this mouse and the ultimate edition. Both have been great for my use. I used this one for about a year as my main mouse, gaming and general use, then snagged the ultimate version at a bargain (which I now use as my main gaming and general use) and I use this one for work - take it into office and have leave it with my work laptop.

I rarely change the AA battery and havent had a problem with it.

  • Had one, garbage. The bluetooth stopped working after a month, then after 6 months the entire thing just gave up and wouldn't turn on, even with fresh batteries. Sent back for a refund and got a logitech instead.

  • Good mouse for the price. Been using one on Bluetooth for close to a year, no issues.

  • Been using one as my work mouse for about 7 months. Usually over USB and I can't fault it. Solid, tracks well and has never failed to function properly for me. More importantly, it's very comfortable (but that's subjective)

Bluetooth works fine (pairs reliably), I just can't stand the bluetooth latency. I'm on my second battery using USB, so it's still pretty good.

    • Usually over USB and I can't fault it.\

I started to think they may have newer version which fixed the freeze up issue.

      • 2.4ghz wifi (or dual channel as opposed to 5ghz) would be a common cause for freezups

        • Actually not freezing up, just lost connection.

      • Happy to compare serial numbers if that helps. Purchased in Nov 2021.

Re Digitizer's theory about 2.4GHz wifi interference, my wifi at work is likely 5GHz (never checked). So that's a possibility.

        • To clarify - the 2.4GHz wifi interfering with dongles and bluetooth is not a theory - it's a thing. And I was very very surprised to find it even on a an iMac with bluetooth kb/mouse being barely usable when connected to 2.4GHz wifi. (Like how are non-tech people are meant to know that?)

  • I'm very happy with mine (gaming and work) over both Bluetooth and 2.4ghz. I find it very comfortable

  • +1

I'm reading some mixed comments regarding the quality of this mouse, and razer as a whole.. But i also see similar, polarizing opinions about logitech especially regarding the use of mechanical switches… The reason why I'm leaning towards razer and optical switches. I want it to last

Can anyone tell me if the Basilisk ultimate is a step up in quality over this model?
