Great pair of truewireless buds that work well with my Galaxy phone and tablet.

They work the same as my airpods pro when I use them with my iPhone/macbook.

I do give the edge to airpods pro for comfort but the Samsung slightly better for sound.

      • +13

My Galaxy Buds works the same on Samsung Devices. Every time I opened mine, the menu pops up to connect (if you have it paired to more than 1 Samsung device).

        • +3

Yup lol, Samsung products with Samsung products just seem to work with no bullshit. My GW4 and buds live just works with my S21.

      • +2

I use my galaxy buds pro with S22U and Galaxy Tab S8+ and I never have to press connect on those devices. I just put the buds on and press play on the device and they work. Sometimes I even see my phone say buds connected but as soon as I play music on the tablet it switches.

        • -5

You said they work the same on your iPhone and MacBook as AirPods do which they very much don’t.

          • +3

@Axelstrife: Oh yeah sorry for confusion.

I meant that the buds work as well with the Samsung ecosystem (buds to galaxy tablet/phone) as the airpods pro work with Apple ecosystem (airpods to phone/laptop/ipad).

I use all Samsung for personal and all Apple for work so I've used both side by side.

I regret buying these, they hurt my ears and the fall out when i talk or eat. So many others are the same

    • I have read that some people have some allergies to the newer Galaxy buds. But I'd say try getting new foam or rubber ear tips. Will help with the fit, not all ears work well with the standard tips

      • +1

thanks for tip, i wasted money on memory foam tips etc, unfortunately didnt help, The 3 people i know that have them have the same issue as me. Its a shame because i was really happy with performance

      • +1

Probably not an allergy, probably to do with how they seal and the consequences of that seal for some users. All IEMs have this, regardless of tip material and shape.

It just seems to be marginally more common for this shape amongst the population of people buying. Ear canals are a tricky thing.

    • yep, ear infection for me. Fun. So many people with same issue. I used so many different earbuds and this is the first one which gave me ear infection.

      • +1

Same here, irritates my ear badly. Shame they are good earbuds though.

Has anyone found a way to wear it somehow. Sitting in the drawer ss waste of money otherwise.

        • -1

I returned mine through the Samsung site, they were not great to deal with but after i got a stat dec they gave a full refund. They didn't pay for the ruined pillow from the fluid from my ear (So much all coming out of the skin, doctor had never seen it before, so god knows what is in them). Had used the original buds and buds live for years without an issue,

          • @dyllan: Did you have to provide proof of purchase? I will have to find mine.

Otherwise might sell it on gumtree or facebook.

    • +1

Mine died 1 month outside of Warranty and Samsung said "it's $340 to repair"

      • Statutory warranty threat comment works a treat sometimes

        • Tried that they just ignored me and chucked it in the bin.
          Won't be buying Samsung again

          • +5

@fadeinthemix: Should have followed through with it

            • @serbpie: I should have.
But bought some Ankers and they are much better.
They don't fall out like the these earbuds no matter what I did.
I wouldn't recommend these at all.

      • Did you buy directly from Samsung? I have found their support pretty average. It's better to buy through Amazon though.

        • +3

I did, Their support is below average.
I bought on release day as well, had nothing but problems with the left hand side earbud.
Nothing but issues with their support.

    • I have the Buds+ and the right one always falls out when I'm in the gym. Never had issues with any other earplug in my life.

I think I recall someone saying you can get third party ones that actually fit.

  • +1

    Are these any good?
Or is there other earbuds out there that work or are better around this price?

I had the buds plus but returned them due to sound issues and I would try and use zoom with them on my phone.. they wouldn't work at all especially with the mic

Hoping these are still on sale tomorrow to stack with cash rewards if you guys say that these are good

    • calls and audio is better then buds plus, but they are an odd shape that hurt alot of peoples ears.

    • +2

I bought these at full price and have found them to be absolutely worth it.

Really good sound quality and super comfortable for me (though YMMV).

Mic quality is good too, only thing it falls a little short on is ANC. Still good, but imo other buds are a bit better.

    • -1

      YES!

    • +1

They have a lot of positives, but for me the fit is so bad that I would never recommend them, even at this price.

    • +1

I'm 99% happy with mine. And the 1% is probably self inflicted.

Sound quality, which I care about most, is right up there. I love a good balanced unit that these are, with strong mids, decent but not overblown bass and not too bright or harsh at the top end. They have the speed to keep up with some of the more complex tracks I listen to without turning them into a muddy mess like anything sony ;) . So perfect for my preferences.
Fit is comfortable for me. I do occasionally adjust them when working out, but its not a bother for me.
ANC I personally don't care about as I'm never in environments to use it, but in general I don't like the background noise it introduces even if I was. Side note: these buds have a crazy strong ambient mode if you turn it up in preferences, its quite funny.

The only issue I've had is I am still sporting an old phone (LG V20), and sometimes randomly, the range is terrible. I mean like 2-3 metres is too much bad. This is in the same location, with no closeby 2.4 ghz wifi or other bluetooth devices running.
But most times, no issue at all, 20+ metres. I put it down to my phone being bluetooth 4.2, as 5.X added four times the range. In developer options, I see when its a good the connection its running its connection on AAC. I've been waiting to see what it is when they are being a tad dodgy. I don't think this would be a concern for anyone with a modern phone. And if you have a Samsung phone with samsung scalable codec, you'd be even better off I guess.

  • +2

i find these slippery and hard to get out of my ear. I prefer something with a stem because its easy to grab out when talking to people

    • "Hard to get out" & not loose by accidental touch by undressing or similar.
The best shape Galaxy Buds Live - sit softly inside the ear, fit for all-day comfort whatever your activity. The ergonomic design is snug yet non-intrusive even when sleepign with them. The sound is not the best/strongest, but I use them for informative talks mostly. I can sing to myself if I want genuine music. ;)

  • How do these compare to the Buds2 that came with the S22 at launch? I've been very happy with my set.

    • They're a step up, but I suspect the Buds2 might get an update. ANC is a little gimmicky for IEMs as they already isolate a fair bit.

Unless you're dealing with a lot of continuous loud background noise - particularly in the bass region - I wouldn't bother.

      • are they really a step up? I would say the other way around, buds2 are better in ANC and sound quality

        subjective though

        • I think without ANC, the Pros are better, and I'd argue the mic audio is better.

But the Buds2 seem likely for a firmware update that will probably put them over the top. LC3 codec support - if it drops - changes the game entirely.

          • @jasswolf: on paper pro's are better, but in real life the fit is the biggest show stopper. not getting a tight fit affects both ANC and sound quality

maybe if you're one of the lucky ones who gets a good fit with the pro's then yes, otherwise buds2 are better for everyone else

  • +2

Great from a tech and music standpoint, but the oval tips instead of circular means they don't sit in the ear right for a lot of people (lots of threads about it if you search reddit, Samsung user forums etc). I've stopped wearing them at the gym because they fall out or I have to keep adjusting them after each set. Tried a couple of different 3rd party tips, which improves things a little, but still don't fix the issue.

  • If we were to buy these.. Would amazon refund me if I return them if I have the issue of the tips not fitting in my ears correctly?

    • no way, maybe if you lie and say one is louder than other or something

  • As someone that seems to have an addiction to buying TWS buds - these sound great, fit terribly (at least for me) and have noticeably worse ANC and transparency mode than Airpods Pro.

The only TWS that I think actually sound better than these are the Devialet Gemini, however I think these are better tuned for most genres, the Devialet's just have addictive but clean bass.

Mic is clear but makes your voice sound a little robotic.

Have pretty bad bluetooth latency, even on Samsung devices, actually slight better on iPhone.

  • +2

These sound good. Very bass light though. HORRIBLE FIT. Listen to the comments - people were not making this up lol

    • buds2 is a better choice overall. similar specs, great ANC and circular tips (better fit)

    • 3 packs of foam tips off ebay/aliexpress will set you back a few bucks and will clear up any fitments issues.

      • +1

tried various ones from reddit etc.
I think these aren't for me sadly. The previous gen (buds plus) had no issues though

  • I have these ones and the apple airpods as well! and in terms of ear-comfort, the apple earpods are miles ahead of these. The samsung buds Pro are so inconvenient to the ears compared to the apple airpods, that my buds pro are just sitting idle on my desk!! try it and then buy it!!

    • it strongly depends on your ear shape I guess

I had APP and I couldn't get a secure fit with any tips whatever I did. also they have a protruding end, which was super unsecure with putting mask on and off, occasionally I would yank an earpiece out because of it.

      returned APP

Jabras 75t were a fantastic fit but got stolen somehow

now super happy with buds2. while buds pro just were so bad that went right back to where they came from

  • Hope they are still available tomorrow, ~$131 with Cashrewards.

  • +1

this has a bad fit for me, used for 1.5 years and got rid of them for $110 used. New ones should be coming soon, with the Fold 4.

  • right ear bud stopped playing sound after 5 months

    • Something similar happened to my Galaxy Buds + recently. Right ear buds as well. I ended up doing a deep clean on it and works fine now. Although if you've had yours for 5 months it'd be covered under warranty.

  • That's a sick deal I got it for 126.65
JB-HIFI price match + 15% TCN from last year in this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/669505

  • I own or have tried so many headphones.

Other than the powerbeats pro with the hooks, surprisingly the Tozo NC9 are my kind for fitment. I just went boxing on a bag for 40 mins.. didn't budge once. Nothing without a wing tip, comes close. The Jabra 7 Active Elite with their shake grip are bullshit. They're comfortable but slide out way too easy even just moving around normally or eating.

  • These guys have good sound and ANC is ok but the fit isnt for everyone.

  • I got these with my galaxy tab ultra, I sold them because I prefer my Soundpeats Trueengine 3 SE

Found them uncomfortable and thought they sounded very inferior

  • Anyone that gets these do yourself a favour and get foam eartips off ebay/aliexpress.

    • Do you have any that you recommend yourself?

  • From the perspective of an average user, these are definitely the best pair of true wireless earbuds that I have tried. The ANC is nice, it obviously won't block out everything but is good enough for a lot of scenarios. The audio quality is superb and from what I've heard from audiophiles these are one of the best in terms of quality.

I've been using mine for about a year or so and have had 0 issues with it (other than losing one of them for a couple weeks before finding it again). I guess I'm lucky to have almost a perfect fit for the buds as that seems to be the main complaint. I have to re-adjust it sometimes but other than that it's perfect.

I believe I got it price matched at JB for something like $180? seem like a good deal to me.

  • How does this compare with the Sony WF-1000XM4? Is the Sony worth the price premium?

    • Sony isn't meant for everyone because it doesn't fit most people. I have no idea why on earth Sony has designed them so bad. I tried both the three and four, four is a lot worse than three.
I find Samsung to be much better but still prefer the first gen Samsung for proper fit.

  • Just combined them with 12% cashback on offer for the next hour and 40.

  • I was quite worried due to some of the comments on here but I have to say fitment and comfort was quite good for me way better than the google pixel-a that i got on the last ozb deal.
