i scored mine at a music festival in florida , they have it under control there

    • Annastacia will keep us safe…

      • Not anymore. Too scared of making the nutters angry.

QLD is currently sitting at a 7 day average of 5.87 deaths per day.

What's curious is that despite high penetration rates of vaccination, and the prevalent variant (omicron) being more benign than previous ones, the mortality rate is up. Given that PME isn't performed, it's impossible to distinguish "deaths from COVID" from "deaths with COVID", and therefore draw any conclusion about the relative risk of the disease.

            @The Judge:

What's curious is that despite high penetration rates of vaccination

            • The third booster is required to have good protection from serious illness from the latest variants. Yet QLD's booster rates are pathetic.
            • Lots of people would now be due for a fourth booster, yet are still not approved to receive it.

being more benign than previous ones

If they are more benign is debatable. The higher vaccination rates in the population when the later variants arrived may be the reason for less serious complications. Those vaccinations are now waning.

it's impossible to distinguish "deaths from COVID" from "deaths with COVID"

They're not testing car accident victims, violence victims, heart attacker deaths etc. for COVID when they arrive at the morgue. If they've been tested, there's a good chance COVID was at least involved in the death.

            • @PainToad:

The third booster is required to have good protection from serious illness

Only if you don't have a robust immune system. Getting COVID whilst unjabbed (or part jabbed) isn't a guarantee of anything (remember all of the asymptomatic cases earlier in the pandemic, prior to the vaccines?). I think the powers that be have painted themselves into a corner - people have taken the injections in good faith and yet they aren't stopping the spread, symptoms or deaths from the disease, so why would they bother getting number 3, 4…7 etc. Calling it a "vaccine" probably didn't help either, given these are an inoculation (ie flu shot), and don't offer the same outcomes as vaccination/immunisation.

If they are more benign is debatable

Case numbers to recovered numbers ratio should speak pretty loudly about this, and the global trend in both cases & mortality is trending down since mid-Feb.

there's a good chance COVID was at least involved in the death

So we won't ever know the full impact of just having COVID then?

          • @The Judge: Not sure ozbargain is the place for your anti vax anti Covid propaganda

            • -1

@FredAstair: Point taken re: this not being the right forum, but "Anti-COVID propaganda"? Lmao, am I supposed to be supportive of the disease?

I'm struggling to fathom the intellectual dishonesty required to paint someone as "anti" for questioning the official line. Reddit-tier reeeee.

FWIW, and not that it's any of your business, I've had my inoculations.

I moved to Brisbane and have never been to one. Is it good to go? Is it like the royal easter show in Sydney?

    • yes similar to the RES

    • yes similar, haven't been in years (was good when I last went, busy) but will probably this year as friend in town and has never been

I'm just wondering if the twilight tkts are worthwhile after 4pm if anyone knows?

    • It was great until mid 2000s when they developed huge sections into units.

It's tiny compared to what it was and now sucks. It's completely lost its country feel now, which was the entire point.

      • Yes. Over rated and based on nostalgia alone.

        Over priced.
If you want a similar experience go find a country based fair.
