        Apple gift cards (including the one in this deal) can be used to purchase an iPhone:

        • Online through the Apple website,
        • In-store at a physical Apple Store, or
        • Over-the-phone at 133 MAC (133 622).

        Keep in mind there may be limits to the number of Apple gift cards you can redeem in one transaction:

        • Online: 8
        • In-store or over-the-phone: I’m not sure, but the limit is likely 8 as well.

        One way a lot of people get around this issue is to add Apple gift cards to an Apple account’s associated balance (aka Apple ID balance) first, then pay for the iPhone by redeeming that balance in conjunction with up to 8 gift cards and any remainder to be paid for on a credit/debit card (where required). This works for online or over-the-phone transactions, but does not currently work for in-store transactions, as you currently cannot redeem an Apple account’s associated balance in a physical Apple Store.1

        1. There is a new feature recently added to iOS 15.5 where you can add an Apple account’s associated balance to your Apple Pay wallet and then use that within a physical Apple Store as a payment method, but this feature is currently only available in the US. ↩

        Or you can top-up your apple account with gift cards and pay via apple pay when buying from apple online. If your apple account balance is less than the price of product, you can pay using a credit card. e.g. if your apple balance is $1000 and iphone is $1300, you will need to pay $300 at checkout.

      It's technically not a 'discount'. You get 10% of what you spend given as Everyday Rewards Points as a bonus. $1000 Apple Gift Card Spend = 20000 Everyday Rewards Points = $100 Everyday Rewards Dollars.

          Following on from the comment above, you won't see an option to pay using Everyday Rewards Dollars when you are purchasing a gift card at Woolworths or BIG W and select Pay Now.

          There actually used to be a loophole where if your Everyday Rewards account had $4,500 in Everyday Rewards Dollars (which used to be the balance limit) and then you proceeded to purchase an item that would earn Everyday Rewards in that transaction (including gift cards offering bonus points), the checkout would redeem as many Everyday Rewards Dollars as it could to nearly or fully cover the cost of the item being purchased. Nowadays, Everyday Rewards will probably award you zero points on any transaction until you bring your Everyday Rewards Dollars balance under $4,000 (which is the new balance limit).

      Usually 10% off mean,
      $100 gift card - 10% = $90 (you pay 90%)

      In these case,
      $100 gift card = $100 (you pay 100%) + $10 (bonus 10% woolworth shopping credit)
      It is a bit less than 10% discount and it can only be used in woolworth, so 10% discount always better.

          100/110 = you pay around 90.9%
          = around 9.1% off

          90/100 = you pay 90%
          = 10% off

          Or make this simple, if you pay 90% of $110 = $99 only. When you pay $100, it is a bit less than 10%

        Not really, because you'll have to make $110 worth of purchase. Unless, there is a way to convert those points into cash and you deposit it back into your account (and buying a gift card using points is not allowed).

          If I do my groceries at wollies then isn't it is technically 10% off since I don't spend any extra to get it (I spend it anyway)? The 10% extra was spent on food, not the gift card.

            @bheart: I think that's how some see it differently. Those who regular shop at Woolies / Big W see it as 10%. Others who don't see it as less.

            @bheart: Not really, because if we use a real 10% discount, for example, then you can pay $900, but get $1000 worth of Apple cards.

            But, how about the argument that we all spend money buying food at Woollies eventually? Problem is, you are making the assumption that new transaction cannot be further discounted in any way. What if the OZBer opted to buy discounted Woollies gift card(s) with that $100? I know some bosses like to use discounted gift cards a lot when shopping at supermarkets.

            Yes, we can (and most of us do) think we will eventually have to buy essential items from Woolworths. However, if we go full OZB mode, then this is technically more 9% discount than 10%.

      BIG W pretty much always mentions a 10 card limit in the fine print of their gift card bonus points deals. BIG W run their gift card deals differently to Woolworths.

        That's very helpful. Apple has a variable load gift card (up to $500) so if the above still works, you could get unlimited number of cards/recharges e.g. 10 x $200 value, then another 10 x $225 and so on

          Ahhhh I need to clarify what I refer to as denominations.

          Each gift card sold at BIG W (and Woolworths) is assigned a unique PLU (product look-up) number, and my understanding is that you will only earn bonus points on 10 gift cards with a specific PLU number. For example, the $100 (fixed denomination) Apple gift card has a different PLU number to the $200 (fixed denomination) Apple gift card, and both these gift cards have a different PLU number to the $25-$500 (variable load) Apple gift card.

          The $20-$500 Apple gift cards is a product with a "variable denomination", so BIG W's systems will consider a variable load gift card with $25 loaded on it the same product as a variable load gift card with $300 loaded on it, because all variable load Apple gift cards are assigned the same PLU number. Because of that, I would expect you to only be able to purchase 10x $25-$500 Apple gift cards through this deal and earn bonus points on them, but you should be fine earning points on the purchase of 10x $200 Apple gift cards at other BIG W stores.

    Can you stack vouchers with Qantas Shopping? So 20x Rewards points for gift cards, then 3x Qantas Points (current offer) when using Gift Cards as payment? If possible this works out at 13x Qantas points (10 after 0.5 conversion from EveryDay Rewards) + the 3 additional Qantas points.

      The Woolworths Group team member discount on gift cards sold at Woolworths was phased out by Dec 2021 or Jan 2022.

      I don't recall the Woolworths Group team member discount ever applying to gift cards sold at BIG W.

      Yep spot on did this late last year for the new 14’ MacBook. Instantly received over 60,000 rewards points which was on the screen before I paid so knew it would work. It’s easier to purchase the variable load Apple gift card up to $500 so you don’t have to buy so many. Also the Woolies staff at the counter will help you out as they need a manager to approve larger amounts. 10x$500 is the maximum.

    I am just wondering if these cards are the best discount to buy iPhone 14? Last year I've used 20x Flybuys to buy MacBook but I'm a little bit reluctant to spend 2000$ well 5 months in advance (considering iPhone 14 will be in October). Do you reckon there will be much better deal for iPhone via giftcards or anything else from the past experience?

      I doubt we will see offers better than 20x bonus points anymore. There was 30x when they first introduced the Apple Gift Card but I can’t see 30x happening again. No harm in waiting though as these 20x offers are fairly regular between Coles, Woolies and Big W.

      I got a bunch gift cards when I bought iPhone 13 and there are still ~$200 leftover in my Apple ID that pays my iCloud and Apple Music subscription. As Melbourne guy said 20X is probably gonna be the normal deal. So it should be fine to stock now. You can even load them in your Apple ID asap so you don’t need to hold onto a bunch of gift cards worry about losing them.

    Prefer flybuys points over woolworths reward points. I used to shop at Woolworths only for past 10 years, and I find Woolworths is getting so greedy now. Some of the recent changes make me stay away from them, like, no raincheck, no refund policy, gift card can only buy groceries, woolworths dollars are useless now, only can buy their most profitable stuff in the store, and Ampol no longer accept woolworths dollars or gift cards any more.

        Their complaint is that you cannot use Everyday Rewards Dollars on items where Woolworths would basically make very little (if any) profit on (e.g. gift cards, mobile SIM cards, mobile recharges).

        You can still redeem your Everyday Rewards Dollars on grocery items at Woolworths.

      It’s not possible to purchase any gift cards at BIG W using gift cards issued by Woolworths Group (e.g. BIG W gift cards, WISH gift cards). BIG W stopped allowing this a few years ago.

      I’m 99% sure the answer is yes.

      BIG W block some prepaid gift cards from being used to purchase some gift cards sold in their stores.

      However, the prepaid gift card in the deal you linked to has a bank identification number I have not seen before, so I would be extremely surprised if BIG W has added it to its blacklist.

      No, because the catalogue (page 104) states the offer is in-store only.

      Woolworths Group operates BIG W separately from the Woolworths Group gift card portal (which you linked to), so a deal in BIG W is never replicated on the aforementioned gift card portal.

            In france duty free it $540 = $812.

            If I buy it in Australia, i can get it from the education store for $669. Plus this offer which would give me about 12000 points + I could use my anz frequent flyer to buy the cards. Gotta squeeze it all!

      Yes

      You can redeem up to 8 Apple gift cards in one transaction on the Apple Online store (including the Apple Education Store and Apple On Campus (AOC) Education Stores.

      If you need to redeem more than 8 Apple gift cards in one online transaction, you can add gift cards to your Apple Account Associated Balance (aka Apple ID balance) first, then use that Balance in conjunction with up to 8 Apple gift cards in one online transaction.

      Keep in mind that Apple currently does not let you pay for items sold in a physical Apple store using a Balance (not yet in Australia, anyway), but you can redeem Apple gift cards in a physical Apple store, so plan accordingly!

    Lots of cards left at BigW Macquarie. Note that the $20 gift card is not shown on the catalogue image but the T&Cs don't explicitly state any exclusion. After scanning the gift card and before paying, the POS screen should tell you how many Qantas points / rewards dollars you should receive (this was at the counter, not self-service).
