    Oh, yes

Time to stock up so I can buy games that I'll likely never have time to play, but slightly cheaper!

    • (profanity) yeah!

Is the cheapest way to buy Zelda DLC?

    • +5

The cheapest way is when it goes on sale on the eShop for 30% off taking it down to $21. However, the last time it was on special was June 2021.

      • Thanks, I will wait then.

        • +5

the cheapest way is to wait for it to go on sale and pay with these discounted cards.

First sale since the 3DS/Wii U closure announcement

  • Likely a big summer sale of e-shop mid June? At least based on history. Good timing.

Also - I think you can buy US$ cards pretty cheap and buy through US account for more savings but others on here can better explain or provide links. Thread for bugs OLED recently had done great info in the comments.

From experience, I would not recommend buying US giftcards.

You cannot leave the US eShop until you have used ALL funds and ALL coins. It is ridiculously difficult to reach a balance of $0.00 for both of these, as you earn coins for purchases. You end up in a continuous loop.

I ended up having to purchase cheap 50 cent DLC bits and pieces to get out there. It was a nighmare.

      • Was that to change region of your account? If so would creating a second account work and be easier?

        • +1

I created a second account for US eshop even though it was only for one game which was ciphers from some ozbargain deal.

It does mean a second account to transfer when you do upgrade your switch but pretty handy

    • That would be good timing considering I just bought a Switch which is to be delivered next week. I need to stock up on all the Nintendo first party games but they're all still $80!

      • Yeah, good luck with that, look at how the 3DS went, most of those games are still full price (or now increasing now that it's reaching end of life), best to wait for those sales, that's the only time the price drops.

  • I've changed my region to HK to buy some games half year ago. Can I change back to AU now and use these GCs? What will happen to the game I bought from HK?

    • +3

Not sure about HK, but for US purchases the game remains on your system.

You cannot use a HK GC for a different region.

    • Why don’t you create a new account/user instead? If you switch regions, you lose any credit you have.

      • This - I have separate account/profiles for AUS and US. Not tried any other regions.

  • The best way to get the new Mario Kart tracks?

Can you use Big W gift cards to pay for these?

  • They do these pretty much every June and not really again until Christmas so if you intend on buying a bunch of virtual console, wii u and 3ds games digitally before the store closure this is likely going to be your last chance to get a nice 10% off whatever you were going to pay since they stop gift cards for the older systems in august.

    • Any idea if u can use these for physical items like the Nintendo 64 switch controllers or other items in their store or just digital stuff?

  • can I use it for Nintendo member payment?

    • +1

      Yep

  • Finally! I've already blown through my stash I stocked up on in Dec.

  • So is the quantity you can buy limited this year?

  • Hopefully i can get some stock this time

  • Can you use big w gift card to pay for this?

    • Unfortunately not

  • lol yeah I rarely bother with these because Nintendo sales are good usually, and I mostly buy physical games for this console.

  • All denominations available at MacArthur Central, Queen St Brisbane.

No sign about a sale but scanned 10% off.

  • Does anyone know if jb hifi can price match big w on Nintendo eshop card?

I'm thinking of using my jb hifi gift card for this.

    • why not call them?

      • I called them and yup, they do price match.

This works nicely with Amex offer - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703496

        • Has this actually worked - went to my local jb and called another. Both said can't price eshop cards

          • @Itachi99: I actually went to jbhifi in Melbourne central and did get price match on Nintendo eshop when I showed them big w's catalogue.

I insisted with "here is big w catalogue, and they have a discounts on Nintendo eshop card. Can you do a price match?".

  • Just checking this is BigW only and not Woolworths? Just noticed this deal closes tonight and you can’t buy them from BigW online, BigW is shut but supermarket still open
