    Yes. There are a few places ("5 Star") in the same area that are around the same price or cheaper for same dates.

  We just stayed in a 5 star hotel in centre of Bangkok - $40 a night for an executive room, high floor and including a great buffet breakfast and welcome (alcoholic) drinks.

  So this price isn't really anything special for Thailand at the moment.

      Sure - Pullman Sukhumvit. We stayed on the weekend and booked about a month ago - might not be those rates anymore. Staying at the S.O Sofitel now - paid $120 a night with b'fast with amazing view over skyline and park. Hotels are good deals at the moment due to travel restrictions easing.

        Considering that they now want $360 for 3 nights, without breakfast, for a midweek stay a fortnight from now, I would say under $50 for a Patong 5-star is nothing to be sneezed at.
